The Kite Runner

Introduction
The Kite Runner, which opened in theaters in 2007, is a drama directed by Marc Forster, as adapted to the screen by David Benioff from the 2003 novel of the same name by Khaled Hosseini. The film recouped its $20 million budget with an appreciable $73 million at the box office and was received by critics with mixed reviews, skewing somewhat toward the positive. In Afghanistan in 2008 the film was banned, the government's stance being that it could incite violence with its depictions of ethnic tensions and homosexual rape, and the child actors had to be evacuated from the country.
Hosseini's novel, published in 2003, was a New York Times best seller for over two years, by the end of which it had been translated into forty languages and sold eight million copies. It was generally well received by critics and devoured by readers, though it has
