On April 23, 1945, during the closing days of WWII, the German submarine U-1055 left Bergen, Norway. She was never heard from again and no explanation exists for her loss.
There has been speculation that U-1055 was stripped of her armament, then sent to Wilhelmshaven, Germany. Reportedly, she was to pick up high ranking Third Reich officials and transport them to Argentina. This has never been confirmed
