Grant the Union general who led the United States to victory over the confederation States of America during the civil war has made a great effort to keep the nation united and abolish slavery. As an American hero, Grant was later elected as the 18th President of the United States. His negotiation of the Treaty of Washington provided for the settlement by International Tribunal of American claims against Great Britain arising from the wartime activities of the British built confederation raider Alabama. Grant flourished as a commander due to his administration ability, receptiveness to innovation, versatility and the ability to learn from mistakes. ABOUT Mr. GRANT
The American soldier and statesman Ulysses Simpson Grant served as Commanding General of the Army during the American Civil war and was the 18th president of United States. He was born on 27th April 1822, in Point Pleasant, Ohio. Ulysses was the son of Jesse Grant and Hannah Simpson Grant. After Ulysses was born his parents moved to Georgetown, Ohio, there his father ran a tannery.
His mother in 1839 asked him to join the U.S Military Academy at West Point. In 1843 he completed his graduation from West Point
