    The American soldier and statesman Ulysses Simpson Grant served as Commanding General of the Army during the American Civil war and was the 18th president of United States. He was born on 27th April 1822, in Point Pleasant, Ohio. Ulysses was the son of Jesse Grant and Hannah Simpson Grant. After Ulysses was born his parents moved to Georgetown, Ohio, there his father ran a tannery.

    His mother in 1839 asked him to join the U.S Military Academy at West Point. In 1843 he completed his graduation from West Point
