    G.M.C. Volumes #1-20 - Justin Tilley

    Chapter 1

It’s 2017 and the United States of America is in peril, and not the kinda Peril they’ve put themselves in time and time again by putting their trust into the many charismatic politicians that have led them astray so many times. This time they’ve gotten themselves into some real shit by NOT listening to the average Joe that saw something coming that nobody else did.

The U.S. of A has been trying to regain order for the last two years. Every extremist and\or terrorist that has made their way into this country had a plan. They lived amongst us for years, pretending to be local store owners, friendly neighbors, and in some cases even school teachers. While all the time they were plotting, planning, and training. They would lie about their homeland and where they were from, but us as a country would welcome them with open arms so they could spend the next 30 years secretly training their young and preparing them for that fateful night when the clock struck 12.

January 1st 2015 America would be changed forever. Hundreds of thousands of people were murdered in the streets. Local police officers were dispatched and came to the rescue but had no chance against the artillery being used against them. It took the death of whole police squads and way too many civilians before America realized that there was war within.

They sent the military to attack on their own soil to try and stop the attacks happening all over the country, but still two years later and a with a death toll beyond belief, the war is still going. Some Americans teamed up and started vigilante groups to help, but the military decided to stop these reckless groups as well as keep civilians safe by setting perimeters around small neighborhoods or apartment buildings to keep them in, and the enemy out. Some people called them safety camps, but others called them prisons.

The men in charge of guarding these safety camps weren’t known for their compassion or kindness. If you’re sick, they don’t care, if you’re dying, they don’t care, but if they catch you trying to leave to find meds or food, then they care, and in these days and times, that’s not what you want.

Just a couple hours outside of New York (One of the biggest war zones) was a camp called Overlook Colony. It was a small neighborhood in the state of Delaware, only consisting of five blocks. Each block was named after a number and that’s what started the main difference of this camp from all others. The fourth block was home to one of the best vigilante groups formed over the last two years, The 4th Street Zombies!

    Chapter 2

The 4th street Zombies consisted of a group of close friends with the occasional help of non-zombie friends or family whose desire was to make sure that the occupants of Overlook Colony were taken care of. The zombies reputation reached far passed the small camp of Overlook Colony. After Avery formed the group they quickly made a name for themselves inside and out of the local camps. The quick rise to infamy had people from all over wanting to be part of the fearless group and soon, that’s exactly what would happen. The zombies weren’t always so popular and some even believed they were the reason the guards were so hard on everyone, but others looked at them as if they were the only ones left that actually stood for the people.

It all started with Avery and his closest friend Mike’s unhealthy fear of some sort of hostile takeover or apocalypse. They hatched up their own plan if anything were to happen, and the minute the news broke the story of their worst fears were coming true, they put that plan into motion. Mike was an avid gun collector and he and Avery practiced at least three times a week. Avery, although not afraid of using a gun, was more of the healing type and spent a lot of his time reading medical journals. Once the realization of a war within America hit them, Mike played his part and stocked the guns he already owned into his van and headed straight for the local gun shop for more. Meanwhile, Avery headed to the local pharmacies and collected as much as he could and after the two robbed the places, they met back at Avery’s to prepare.

They carried everything inside, locked all doors and windows, and prepared for a fight. It wasn’t long before gunshots and screams filled the air. They watched out the bedroom windows as one of the neighbors stepped outside of his home and began shooting other neighbors as if they didn’t mean anything. They both did what they could to help by sniping their once familiar acquaintances. It was unconceivable that the same people who’d been serving Avery his coffee every morning for the last 10 years, or the children that he watched grow in his neighborhood were actually standing outside of his house gunning down innocent people. The police showed up within minutes, and for three days they went to war with the local terrorists. That’s when the military finally appeared and secured the area.

All guns, besides the ones issued to military personnel, were banned in these camps but Mike was clever, and with the help of the rest of The zombies, built a small hidden room inside the pantry of Avery’s townhome. Because civilians were being taken from their homes and forced to live in nearby camps, Overlook Colony was more than over populated and Avery’s home (The Den) was the main hangout for the zombies.

Avery Clinton was a 30-year-old server at a local burger place. He was as friendly as a person could be but wasn’t afraid to stand up for what he believed in. He also was the self-proclaimed leader of the gang and although they knew otherwise, nobody seemed to mind, nor disagree with any of his ideas. Mike Demetrius, also 30, was a drunk before the war. He was raised in white America middle class without a worry in the world and although he never fully used his talents until after the creation of the gang, he was also a genius. He was like a brother to his mixed race childhood friend Avery and soon he created the same bond with the others.

Geezus and Shawn Carter were two young black brothers raised on 4th street, both in their early 20’s and both good guys but forced to survive the only way most of the people in that area knew how, that is until the war. Deandre Moore was a six-foot five 200 something pound 25 year old black man that happened to be close friends with all of the members before the war, excluding Mike. He too lived by the rules of the street but tried hard to hide the fact that it wasn’t who he really was, and although Avery was in fact street smart, he felt that he and Mike were different from the others.

Mike had no street smarts or knew what it was like to struggle, and Avery, having just a taste of Mike’s suburbia life when he was a teen, decided to pretend his struggles never existed. Some would say the differences are what made them such a tight group. Mike only met the rest of the zombies after the war began and after seeing how close he was with Avery, the rest gave him a chance, but after seeing how many times his smarts saved their asses, they accepted him with no problem.

The last member of the Zombie Gang was Jordan Allen, better known as Jay. He had more in common with Avery than anyone would think. He was white but had black family members, and he too knew what it was like to live in white America but was all too familiar with the struggle of the streets. Although they had to struggle in their lifetime, the one thing they knew was real, was their friendship, their bond, their trust, and their love for each other. That is the one thing growing up in the streets together can form that nowhere else can, and that’s the bond between brothers, like The 4th Street Zombies.

    Chapter 3

The first occurrence that put the guards on alert about The Zombie gang was when a rash of break-ins started happening. The guards checked it out but considering that Camp Overlook was nothing more than a bunch of drug dealers, users, and a bunch of people that had no choice but to stay there. Everyone in the gang seemed to know almost everyone in the camp. They weren’t really troublemakers but everyone knew they had no problem defending themselves or each other.

Miss Lisa came to the den to warn the gang that the word on the street was that a certain group knew who they were, and planned on robbing them for their weapons and anything else they could find, but once the gang found out, they decided to take matters into their own hands. Being trapped in a camp full of drug users, the gang knew it wouldn’t be easy so they took it upon themselves to make sure to end the drug problem. With everyone being forced to stay in one place, they knew it would get rough so every drug dealer and/or user they came across, they made sure to warn them in a not so nice way. Mostly everyone listened except one small group of younger guys who had it out for the gang, but when face to face, never had a chance. They did however take their chances when catching one of them alone. They were able to a minimum damage, but once The zombies learned everything they could about protecting themselves, that group couldn’t take the smallest zombie if they tried, and that they did.

The Zombie gang knew it was them breaking into everyone’s homes, and even the guards knew but just didn’t care enough, so The zombies took the offensive route. Now there are no weapons allowed in the camps so they had to go about this another way. I say we just wait in the crib and when they come, beat the shit out of em, Geez suggested. Everyone began agreeing and talking at the same time about how to go about beating these kids down. Avery, however decided to throw out the idea of a little more.

Yea, we should fuck them up, but what’s that gonna do? he said. Ever since we stopped all those junkies last time, everyone in the camp has been nothing but nice to us. Damn near treat us like kings. So we’ll take the offensive and bust some ass, but I say we go straight to them, zombie style. Yea and get arrested, Mike replied. No dickhead, Avery said, we don’t use weapons, but since almost everyone looks at us like we’re their saviors, we might as well keep up the good work. Everyone knows the guards don’t give a fuck about us, so we’ll give a fuck about ourselves. It’s your call when and where we beat that ass, as long as it aint here, and when we’re done, we get them to give everything they took back. It’s bound to make The Zombie Gang look even better around here.

Right, Geez added, Only we don’t show our faces so there’s no proof for the guards. Remember, they’re still looking for us for beating the shit out of them for selling drugs to that kid. Yo, the zombie masks we wore for Halloween that year, Shawn interjected, I mean nobody will know it’s us, and it fits with our name. Ok then, Avery said, We gotta plan. Yea we do and I’m hype now, we should do a hunt tonight! DA said excitedly. Nope, Avery answered, cause this other shit is going down tonight." Everyone except Jordan was excited and began talking strategy.

Jordan, as usual, was spending time with one of his many of his female companions while the discussion took place, so he was outta the loop, but some gunfire off in the distance caught his attention, as well as the others, and he rushed off to The Den to see what was happening. Yo, did you hear how close that was, he said bursting through the door. Uhh yea dipshit, we already sent Shawn to check it out. Avery answered. Everyone was itching for a fight. They were so used to sneaking out and going after the crazies but with the Guards hearing more and more about The Zombie Gang, they had to be careful.

    Chapter 4

They watched out the window as a platoon of guards ran through town and climbed roofs to find the shooter. Camp Overlook wasn’t one of the biggest camps so the amount of guards wasn’t as many as it should be. Shawn made it back before any guards could catch him spying, but his news wasn’t what they expected. The zombies hardly snuck out during the day but they loaded up anyway figuring with most of the guards busy, they could sneak to the opposite end, but when Shawn revealed there was no shooter, everyone got a little confused.

I dunno man, but I didn’t see anyone or anything out there. Shawn said. And you’re sure you went the right way? Avery asked. Come on man, don’t talk to me like I’m stupid, I heard the shot too, he replied. That’s when, without warning, the very back door they were about to exit was kicked in. Turns out that The Zombie Gang wasn’t the only one who had a plan, or a tech guy. He was able to simulate the sound of a gunshot from outside the other end of the camp.

They caught the zombies by surprise as they rushed in with bats and crowbars, but the last one to enter somehow got his hands on a shotgun. Aww shit, Jordan mumbled. BACK THE FUCK UP, the leader warned. All the zombies had their weapons hidden in their bags, so with hands up they slowly backed up into the living room. Miss Lisa came in through the front door, surprising the bandits causing the leader to shoot at her. Shawn quickly rushed him and the others began fighting. Luckily Miss Lisa ran out of the house unscathed but unluckily for the assailants, without that shotgun, they were no match or The Zombie Gang.

Mike quickly ran downstairs and grabbed all of the zombie’s bags and put them away. He knew it was only a matter of minutes before the MP’s came in after the gunshot, and he was right. OK FREEZE! one of the MP’s yelled, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough. They were forced to use their tasers on everyone but Mike. They separated everyone and came across the recently used shotgun on the floor. Avery explained they were scared of the gunshots outside and when they tried to run out the back door, the group young of thugs burst through the door. With Miss Lisa being a witness, they confiscated the gun and took the guys to the camp prison. The Zombie Gang however, was safe.

Nobody was the wiser to who they really were except the jailbirds, who spent most of their time behind bars. The tried to tell the MP’s who Avery and his friends really were but they had no intentions on listening, that is until Lieutenant Slasher caught wind. He listened to the thugs and decided at that moment, he would be keeping an eye out for the guys on 4th street. The Zombie Gang, on the other hand found themselves inside the groups home taking back everything they had stolen the last few nights and returned it all to the rightful owners.

Slasher heard the news and of course went around questioning the victims but none of them would say who exactly it was that returned their things. The Zombie Gang felt extremely good about what they did and decided from that moment on, Camp Overlook would be their number one priority. Slasher, on the other hand, decided, proving that Avery, Geez, Shawn, Mike, Jordan, and DA were in fact, The Zombie Gang.

    Chapter 1

OH SHIT, Geez yelped at the sight of the AK in his face. He couldn’t understand the words of the man threatening his life but he knew if he didn’t do something quick, he’d get his head blown off. He put his hands up and tried to play the innocent role but the trail of bodies he left a few yards behind, didn’t quite help the situation. The man’s screams got louder and Geez knew it was only seconds before his impending death, and then all of a sudden the man just stopped. His mouth was wide open and his eyes went blank as he fell to the ground. Geez took a sigh of relief when he saw Avery standing behind the extremist yanking a hunting knife from his skull. Oh shit nigga, I thought you was dead! Nope, not yet, Avery replied. HEY, ladder to your left if you wanna keep it that way," Mike warned over the walkie talkie.

They didn’t hesitate to scurry up the ladder with Avery underneath covering his friend until his 9mm was empty. The bullets ricocheted all over the metal ladder as they climbed, but luckily neither zombie was hit. Avery’s blind shooting kept the enemy at bay, making sure none of them had the opportunity to follow too close behind. Once on top of the roof, Geez radioed Mike for help, and using the cameras the military had set up all over, he was able to hack them and spot the closest allies they had. He instructed Avery and Geez to take cover behind a large metal air unit as the group of extremists reached the top. They followed his instructions and just as they dove behind, Avery took a bullet to the leg. Ahh fuck, he yelled. He pulled his pant leg up to check out the damage. Man that’s just a flesh wound, Geez teased, sucking his teeth. POP! Another loud shot occurred. Neither Zombie was willing to look around the corner yet, but they heard several more shots before Mike came back on the radio clearing them to move.

I don’t even wanna know how the fuck he did that, Geez said. Neither do I, let’s just get outta here, Avery replied, This mask is getting hot. They both knew better than to question Mike’s ways. The zombies had allies all over and with the right radio frequency, Mike was able to call upon some friendlies in the area that had no problem climbing on some roofs of their own and sniping out the enemy. After snatching two of the AK’s from a couple of the fallen men, Geez led the way from rooftop to rooftop following Mikes directions until they finally reached the medical center they have been trying to quietly creep to.

Shhhh look, Geez whispered. He pointed out the massive number of enemies guarding the entrance. What the fuck, he muttered. They must have taken it over as a base or something, Avery suggested. Ok so what’s the plan now? Geez asked after lifting his zombie mask. Avery was stumped for a second but it seemed the two were thinking the same thing. Avery radioed Mike this time, who had already hacked all cameras in the area, noticed the dilemma, and was already working on a plan. They had no other options but to cause a diversion and unintentionally get the guards of a nearby safety camp involved. Avery, trying to survive, tossed grenade after grenade behind them as they ran from the dozen men chasing them.

The explosions caught the attention of the nearby guards and added more trouble to their getaway. With the help of Mike’s camera views and the allies they had close by, they made it off the roof and into a manhole. Many of the vigilante groups used the underground tunnels as a way to get around unseen, but this one was just a tad bit different. There seemed to be a lot more than just a few men down there. It was almost enough to start their own little underground town, and this being any of the zombies first time here, they felt like superstars. Everyone was happy to see members of the gang that wasn’t afraid to fight the enemy, or stand up to the military. They looked at The Zombie Gang as the original group that started a movement further then The 4th street Zombies could ever imagine. A small group led them through the tunnels and brought them out
