Emma couldn’t stop looking at the words. She’d been sitting at the table for who knows how long, staring at the paper in her hands. Her mother always said she was morbid for reading the obituaries, but she definitely hadn’t expected this to happen. But there it was. Her obit. Well, not quite hers, but close enough.

Emma May Beck passed away quietly Saturday morning. She was born in Calgary, Alberta, on June 18, 1931. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Alice, and her siblings, John, Gregory, Mark, Henry, and Anne. The funeral was arranged by McInnis & Holloway and a tree will be planted in the Fish Creek Park Memorial Forest on her behalf. Donations to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre will be appreciated.
