Alfred Barth studierte in Wien Psychologie, Philosophie und Geschichte. Er arbeitete als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter im Wittgenstein-Archiv der Universität Bergen, an der Medizinischen Universität Wien sowie an der Technischen Universität Wien, wo er 2007 habilitierte. Seit 2012 ist er Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Arbeits- und Organisationspsychologie der Sigmund Freud Privatuniversität in Linz. Alfred Barth publiziert seit vielen Jahren in internationalen Fachzeitschriften, für die er auch als Gutachter tätig ist.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Alfred Barth beschreibt in seinem Buch die derzeitige Praxis wissenschaftlichen Arbeitens in den Sozial- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften. Die Wirkmechanismen der Publikations-"Industrie" werden verständlich und leicht nachvollziehbar erklärt. Ich halte die Lektüre für jederfrau / jedermann empfehlenswert, die / der sich selbst in diesem Feld bewegt. Das Buch öffnet die Augen und hilft, ein realistisches Bild der Sozial- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften zu zeichnen, in dem menschliche Charakterzüge (wie überall sonst auch) maßgeblich sind. Wie überall im Leben gilt es auch im wissenschaftlichen Diskurs, sich selbst eine kritische Meinung anhand der Fakten zu bilden und sich nicht blind und gutgläubig auf Publikationen, Expertenmeinungen u.dgl. zu verlassen.
