    Elli turned off her phone for good and dropped the useless device on the lacquered round table next to her half-finished pint of beer. Everything had happened so fast. Four hours ago, she was finishing up her day at work when she received yet another bouquet of yellow tulips. The thought of knowing who the flowers were from made her stomach churn. Somewhere deep down, she knew he wouldn’t stop. Ever. After crying in the toilet cubicle at work for thirty minutes, she decided to not return home and head straight for the Heathrow Airport with whatever she had on her back. Luckily for her, she always carried her passport around and there were some savings in her bank account to get her the first flight out of London. To her surprise, the place she ended up in was Ireland. She then took a taxi from the Dublin Airport in a random direction for an hour and ended up in some pub. Not as far as she’d wanted to get away, but it was better than nothing. At least, there was a sea between her and her stalker.

    She lifted the pint to her lips and polished off the contents in a few large mouthfuls. The next order of business was to find a place to stay. Elli’s sigh was drowned out by the noise the rugby fans made when their team scored a goal. They erupted from their seats, and their cheers flooded the rustic interior.

    Sliding off her seat, she made her way to the bar. The man who looked up upon her approach studied her with his sea-blue eyes. His handsome face had a nicely trimmed dark beard. It matched his hair and was tied in a ponytail. As she got closer, she realised that he was well over six feet tall and probably in his early thirties. Standing at five-four, almost everyone was a giant. She never let that intimidate her. On the contrary, she allowed her height to be her strength and not a crutch.

    The bartender gave her a warm smile that nearly melted Elli on the spot. His gaze raked her face for something. Another beer, beautiful?
