About this ebook
Beth Boghosian, a young teacher, is trapped in her car during a blizzard. With her gas gage dipping and her cell phone not working, she abandons her car and wades through the snow until she reaches a house. After pounding on the door, she collapses into the arms of Tommy Hebb, a writer, who opens it. When the governor declares a state of emergency which forbids all travel and lasts a week, they develop a friendship. Tommy would like to take it to the next level; there is, however, one problem--Harry Nazarian, her fiancé.
When Tommy learns that Harry, a modern-day Svengali, is abusing Beth, he sets out to find what her fiancé is holding over her head and why she puts up with him. In so doing, he discovers a lot about her past and decides to fight for her love and affection. In a driveway scuffle with Harry, he emerges victorious thanks to some help from Beth and his mother.

Although I’ve made my living as a teacher and guidance counselor, I’ve always had a passion for writing. Thomas Bouregy and Company published my novel, Return to Paradise Cove, under their Avalon imprint. Two of my one-act plays, A Different Kind of Death, and The Flirt, have been produced, respectively, in New Haven, Connecticut, and Sacramento, California. Short stories of mine have appeared in commercial magazines such as Action and True Romance as well as in certain literary and professional ones.

The last thing I wanted was to fall in love again. Been there, done that. And believe me, it was with regret. Oh, the truth is Miriam and I were both at fault. She came from high society and the Big Apple; I, from Spartan simplicity and small-town America. In our senior year at college we met for the first time in a class entitled Publishing Short Fiction. Because writing was one of the few things I did well, she took a fancy to me. After graduation and a whirlwind courtship we became husband and wife.
From the beginning the marriage was doomed. No way could I provide her the lifestyle to which she was accustomed; for by nature I was a dreamer and she, a doer. Irreconcilable differences, our lawyers called it. Upon looking back, I must confess that the sex was great. That pleasure alone, however, was not enough to sustain the marriage. But I digress; so, allow me, if you will, to get on with the story.
Because I have salt water in my veins and love the woods and open spaces, two years ago I moved to Stonington, Maine. Before deciding to do so, I had given Cape Cod serious consideration; for, after all, I was born and raised in the Bay State. Although the Cape has the ocean and some of the country's most beautiful beaches, it has become a tourist Mecca and, thus, lacks the wide, open spaces.
I did not, as some of my friends hinted, retreat to the Pine Tree State to escape the clutches of my mother--even though I admit she tried to convince
