The characters in this series all have different racial, gender, and sexual identities, but the plot isn’t rooted in those differences. Instead, “The Avant-Guards” explores the universal themes of friendship, teamwork, and finding yourself. This series has everything I love: romance, humor, smart protagonists, and sports. These people would have been my friends in high school. I recommend that you get to know everyone on the team.
