About this ebook
Battle musical chairs!
Half-fae/half-gnome Elsee has avoided the games and power plays of the Appalachian Faerie Court so far. She prefers hanging out with her grandfather in the stony caverns around Lookout Mountain, Georgia, and making music with the local humans.
But then her aunt, Queen Aoife, comes to claim Elsee’s most prized possession. When she can no longer avoid fae rules, Elsee must find her own way around them.
Because even family needs boundaries, and nobody touches this girl’s banjo.
Magic is moving. Things are stirring. Let the games begin...
Book 0 of the Rules of Chaos series.
Dawn R. Schuldenfrei
Dawn writes primarily fantasy. She hopes to one day meet all her characters, and those of her favorite authors, since she knows they're out there somewhere. Until they find just the right coffee shop to hang out in, she'll continue to have conversations with all of them in her head, and occasionally out loud (but she'll pretend she's talking to the dog).

Formal wear was never a good sign.
Many fae preferred a natural look to their clothing, or lack thereof, but usually more along the lines of antlers, moss, or feathers as accessories, or a tunic the color of sunset. If someone put actual magic into it, something big was at stake. A show of power was being made.
Personally, Elsee preferred simple, comfortable, and useful. Low cut hiking shoes gave good traction and worked in town as well. Cargo shorts had plenty of pockets for things. T-shirts were pretty much all purpose. Some faeries made snarky comments about her needing a pointy hat, since she was part gnome, but they never made that mistake more than once. And now here she was, extremely underdressed.
Aoife, Queen of the Appalachian faeries, stood in the campground’s bonfire circle, its sparks shuddering beneath her feet. The reds and golds of her gown flickered and licked up her sides in a shimmering sheath of flames. The heat of her dress served only to emphasize the coldness of her face, with her straight
