The Trial of Annas and Caiaphas
()
About this ebook
Second part of The Trial of Pontius Pilate:
The authoritarian magistrates are politically cornered. They face protests and threats due to the arbitrary detention of rulers and the absence of information in other serious cases. The World Court executes several extraordinary measures, crossing definitively the red line between democracy and dictatorship. Without recognizing the existence of the Global Alliance, the magistrates declare the war to Hagmog's government and enact a martial law against a rebel group called Transcendence.
Subsequently, begins the capital trial against Annas and Caiaphas, with fifteen accusations of irregularities and legal violations committed during the judicial proceedings against Jesus. Daniel Rhomero, legal adviser of the World Court, is the accuser, and Tatiana Trustjust defends the chiefs of the Jewish priests.
In an environment of uncertainty propitiated by the disappointing results of the last war, after a strategic move of the conspirators, the magistrates accept: the legalization of the political party Transcendence, the establishment of a new Universal Legislative Power and the holding of elections for governors and legislators.
Concluded the trial against Annas and Caiaphas, in spite of the unfair electoral conditions approved by the World Court, Transcendence obtains an impressive victory in the elections. However, the magistrates prepare a plan to limit the authority of the new Universal Assembly. They also aspire to start immediately the second trial against Pontius Pilate...

The Trial of Annas and Caiaphas - Rolando José Olivo
1. The Questionings of Pontius Pilate's Trial
Marter Justice State, 7016 of the end of the Great War, 5016 of the founding of the State and 1016 of the constitution of the World Court. First day of the tenth month.
Daniel Rhomero reviewed an appeal to the trial against Pontius Pilate. For the third time, he read the introductory part:
"In reference to the sentence issued by the World Court, in the meeting 1016-000122 of the day 09/16/5016, trial of Pontius Pilate, we, Justlib Torch and Virto Strenfort, governors of Filland and Norent, considering that the Law of Appeals of Capital Cases and Judgments N° 5000-06-000071, allows any Justicier or non-Justicier governor, not related with the accused, to appeal the sentence of the World Court, within thirty days after its enactment, and reiterating that this lapse continues in force, we ask the World Court for the annulment of this sentence and the transfer of this case to another universal court. This appeal is based on the following aspects:
First, this trial is not aimed to restoring universal justice.
In order to fulfill the main objective of a capital trial (to reduce the alarming levels of violence in that non-Justicier world, expecting to restore the universal justice), it is necessary to:
1. Apply the suffering penalties to Pontius Pilate.
2. Inform the society of human beings about the sentence and the punishments.
However, as the Justiciers can´t intervene in that world, or significantly alter human history, it is impossible to inform the terrestrials about these facts (even executing the penalties of suffering against the supposed culprit).
Definitely, this trial didn´t contribute, neither contributes, nor will it contribute to reestablish the universal justice.
In that sense, the World Court must explain why accepted and carried out this trial, knowing in advance that it isn´t related to the purpose of restoring the universal justice.
Secondly, in the sentence N° 1016-000122 of the World Court, there are two deferred charges: the twelfth (evasion of responsibilities) and thirteenth (improper handling of a conflict of interests).
The World Court must decide: either issue a sentence of guilty or innocent for each of the aforementioned charges, or proceed to cancel them.
Likewise, the World Court must adequately justify why the punishments of Pontius Pilate are suspended.
Thirdly, to-date, neither the World Court nor any of the 144 Justicier governors have explained why the signature of the magistrate Patricio Peter-Stheyn doesn´t appear in the aforementioned sentence of the trial against Pontius Pilate.
Fourthly, it is questionable that the universal lawyer Daniel Rhomero, co-participant of the accusations and candidate to magistrate of the World Court, was the defender of Pontius Pilate.
Fifthly, the World Court must clarify whether during this trial, Daniel Rhomero worked on his own or reported to any Justicier official or magistrate.
The World Court must also provide details of Rhomero's meetings with any Justicier governor or magistrate, during the course of this trial.
Sixthly, it is questionable that the universal lawyer Tatiana Trustjust, accuser of Pontius Pilate, has been named attorney's assistant of the Marter Justice State, during the course of the aforementioned trial, considering that Hagmog's government hasn´t accepted her resignation.
Seventhly, the World Court must clarify who is the Justicier supervisor of Tatiana Trustjust.
The World Court must also provide details of her meetings with any Justicier governor or magistrate, during the course of this trial.
We reserve the right to request additional explanations."
Suddenly, the intercom alarm sounded:
-Red-red-red code!
The office door opened.
The magistrate Claudio Vikktorious entered and sat down quickly. He exposed:
-Good morning, lawyer Daniel Rhomero.
-I inform you that the President Markos KleinGros is upset by this appeal, presented by two full members of the Global Alliance.
-Although this doesn´t bother me.
-Torch and Strenfort rule small states.
-They want to impress the leaders of the Global Alliance.
-Attorney Daniel, No!
-Lawyer Daniel, what is your position?
Daniel Rhomero replied:
-Good morning, magistrate Claudio Vikktorious.
-I read the appeal.
-I agree with you.
-Their arguments are weak.
-They made a serious mistake.
-This judgment is related to universal justice!
-We will conclusively refute all their proposals and reject the appeal.
-We will firmly justify that this is a capital trial and that the sentences, with the exception of the deferred ones, are firm and can´t be appealed.
-Magistrate Claudio, don´t worry!
-They will not be able to present another appeal!
-When I was reviewing the file of Pontius Pilate, I conceived that they could question the purpose of the trial, and in that opportunity I prepared some previous answers.
-I reviewed the previous arguments.
-The reply to this appeal is almost ready.
Claudio Vikktorious continued with the conversation:
-I came for other matters.
-We have too many problems!
-Or the former magistrate Peter-Stheyn threw a curse on us or his alternate plans are being executed!
-Despite the risks, he tried to assassinate Albuss Pryscus, our main negotiator with the pragmatics, and at the same time, condemn you, leaving Pontius Pilate without a defender.
-So that the World Court could not continue with this trial, discrediting our Justice System.
-It was the perfect crime.
-Patricio tried to prevent an agreement with the pragmatics and tried to delegitimize the World Court.
-He took too much risks.
-Of course, he knew that he could be captured.
-Most likely, this situation is a consequence of his multiple sinister plans.
-Although he is in custody, it seems that his collaborators are following his alternate plans.
Daniel Rhomero exposed:
-Magistrate, what are the problems?
Claudio Vikktorious said:
-Citizens of several countries are protesting the detention of their governors.
-They demand explanations about the cases of Patricio Peter-Stheyn, Albuss Pryscus and Abelardo Bhasilios.
-Either we act quickly or there will be violent demonstrations in more than eighty states.
-Additionally, a group of twenty governors asked Markos KleinGros to tell the truth about the Global Alliance and several sensitive issues.
-These twenty governors declared themselves secretly in rebellion before the World Court.
-If we don´t attend their requests and proceed to accuse and dismiss them for insubordination, an indefinite civic strike will be initiated and they will call a long march to the World Court.
-The rebel governors have more than ten million of persons, prepared to take the streets, while we have no army.
-We can´t use weapons against civilians.
-Also we know that there is a dissident movement, called Transcendence.
-We thought that this group was a faction of the Global Alliance. However, they are Justicier conservatives who sympathize with the pragmatics and support the twenty governors.
-Possibly, they will give an accolade to the 65 arrested governors.
-Maybe, the former magistrate Peter-Stheyn has some influence on these conspirators.
-This is a perfect storm against the Justicier government!
-To make matters worse, we have several problems with the agent Tatiana Trustjust, the protected of Markos KleinGros, afterwards you will receive the explanations.
-The dissident governors don´t accept that a non-Justicier can be an attorney assistant and the Hagmog government requested her extradition, without mentioning the charges against her.
-Once again, the Hagmog government appealed to its extraordinary legal privileges and it is almost impossible to reject this request.
-As you know, dear lawyer Daniel, it is our duty to hand her, so that she will be judged in the non-Justicier judicial system.
-That´s not all!
-Tatiana Trustjust is a nightmare!
-She plays for several teams!
-It seems to us that Tatiana negotiated with Transcendence the arrest of Patricio Peter-Stheyn, in exchange for not disclosing the names of other conspirators, who are magistrates, governors and military leaders.
Daniel Rhomero was surprised and said:
-Does the Global Alliance have other magistrates?
-This is the end of the Justicier State!
-Magistrate Claudio, who trusts in Tatiana?
Claudio Vikktorious replied:
-The President Markos KleinGros fully trusts in Tatiana Trustjust.
-He unconditionally defends her.
-Markos states that Tatiana is his main contact in the espionage network and that she can negotiate with several subversive groups.
-Maybe, you still trust her.
-Attorney Daniel, I remind you that all this information is strictly confidential.
-You can´t repeat any point, without my authorization or that of the general Markos.
-You can only discuss these aspects with me or with the President.
-I am proceeding to inform you about a red level secret.
-I am authorized by the magistrate Markos KleinGros to share it with you.
Daniel Rhomero exposed:
-I promise to faithfully guard the secret.
Claudio Vikktorious said:
-All right!
-The Global Alliance has two other magistrates and there are four magistrates who support Transcendence.
-If they reach an agreement, although it isn´t convenient for them, since they would be identified, the correlation of forces in the World Court would change.
-It would be six votes against five.
-We only have two names, one of the Global Alliance and another of the Justicier rebels.
-End of the red level secret.
Daniel Rhomero said:
-The prosecutor Tatiana must know who the magistrates of Transcendence are.
Claudio Vikktorious exposed:
-Tatiana says that she knows only one.
-She showed us the proofs.
-I still don´t see the things clear.
-I repeat, this is a perfect storm against us!
-We will prepare some extraordinary measures.
-I am in favor of informing the truth, but Markos KleinGros doesn´t agree with this. He believes that the existence of the Global Alliance can´t be revealed, nor can Tatiana and the other agents of the Secret Service be exposed.
-Markos KleinGros, Tatiana Trustjust and the two main directors of the Secret Service, each one of them, know fifty agents, who handle between five and ten contacts and so on.
-Tatiana's pyramid network handles almost 200,000 agents, scattered on more than 100 planets. She is the only one who knows some contacts of levels three, four and five.
Daniel Rhomero asked:
-Why haven´t the conspirators revealed the identity of Tatiana?
Claudio Vikktorious replied:
-The leaders of Transcendence believe that Tatiana is an ally of the pragmatics.
-After the arrest of Patricio Peter-Stheyn, some radicals of the Global Alliance suspect of Tatiana, but they are not sure. Because of this, we have insolated the former magistrate.
-Friend Daniel, for the moment, I ask you to give me the answer to the appeal.
-When will it be ready?
Daniel Rhomero, worried and nervous, replied:
-In two hours, I will send it to you.
Claudio Vikktorious exposed:
-Ok!
Daniel Rhomero asked:
-Magistrate, what happened to the nominations?
Claudio Vikktorious replied:
-It´s part of the inconveniences caused by Tatiana.
-As she demonstrated that you are innocent, identified and captured the President of the Global Alliance, avoided the murder of a magistrate, discovered technological experts and conspiratorial governors and also proved the culpability of Pontius Pilate on several charges, now it turns out that Tatiana has more points than you.
-If we reactivate the applications, then the main candidate to magistrate is she and not you.
-We are analyzing how to solve this.
-There are several options.
-For now, I ask you to give us the answers to the appeal and wait for the announcement of the extraordinary measures, in the next few hours.
Daniel Rhomero asked another question:
-How can Tatiana be nominated for the position of magistrate?
-She isn´t a Justicier!
Claudio Vikktorious replied:
-The President is going to grant her with the Justicier nationality.
Both said goodbye cordially.
Daniel was worried. All these news were confusing. Almost an hour later, he finished preparing the responses to the appeal presented by the Global Alliance, and sent it to the magistrate Claudio Vikktorious.
Next, he remembered all the words of this conversation.
Claudio Vikktorious spoke little. Rather, he had extended considerably in his comments. In addition, the magistrate always provided answers.
Daniel Rhomero reflected:
-First time the enigmatic Claudio refers to several problems, without exposing solutions!
-The situation must be more critical and complex than conceivable!
-Could Pontius Pilate's trial be the tip of the iceberg in the strategies of the radicals of the Global Alliance?
-Will I have to work as an advocate in several cases to overcome Tatiana Trustjust's score?
-Will Tatiana Trustjust be named attorney?
-Will my candidacy as a World Court magistrate be recognized?
-What will happen if in the World Court, if Transcendence decides to support the Global Alliance?
Daniel felt panic and anguish. He never imagined that these situations would happen in the Marter's governmental spheres.
Half an hour later, he received a message in his communications device:
"Urgent matter.
Recipient: Attorney Daniel Rhomero.
Please come immediately to my office. We must discuss several matters of interest.
Markos KleinGros."
Daniel Rhomero went to the office of the President of Marter. He knew that this kind of message didn´t augur good news. Among so many concerns, it was difficult for him to take a position and offer his best recommendations.
Indeed, the appeal against Pontius Pilate's trial was a tiny obstacle in relation with the facts that should be faced...
2. The New Nationality of the non-Justicier Lawyer
Marter Justice State, 7016 of the end of the Great War, 5016 of the founding of the State and 1016 of the constitution of the World Court. First day of the tenth month.
Daniel Rhomero entered the office of Markos KleinGros. They invited him to sit down and greeted those present:
-Good afternoon, magistrates KleinGros, Vikktorious, Pryscus, and lawyer Trustjust.
Markos KleinGros spoke:
-Good day, lawyer Daniel Rhomero.
-We are satisfied with your answers to this appeal presented by the Global Alliance.
-I congratulate you for justifying that this trial is aimed at restoring universal justice!
-With their same arguments, you made a fool of the governors of Filland and Norent.
-I am extremely pleased!
-Fortunately, a serious problem was solved!
-I proceed with the other agenda items.
-Also, I congratulate the magistrate Albuss Pryscus!
-I inform that today is Mr. Albuss Pryscus's birthday. Now, he is 100 years old.
Tatiana Trustjust exposed:
-Magistrate Pryscus,
-Congratulations!
-I hope you will have many more years of life!
Claudio stared at Tatiana. He has always considered her as a flatterer, doubting about her intentions.
Albuss Pryscus expressed:
-Dear Tatiana,
-Thank you!
-Magistrate Claudio, change that face!
-We are not in a public meeting of the Word Court.
-Of course, I am younger than you!
-I would like to remind that the war conflicts and escalations of violence harm us all.
-As we are the most powerful ones, we always win, but the losers recover and other insurgents appear.
-Definitely, we must end this useless cycle of injustice and confrontations!
-According to a non-Justicier microeconomic theory, the only solution is to negotiate a satisfactory agreement for the parties, which should put an end to wars and conspiracies.
-This is a matter of reciprocal collaboration!
The personality of the magistrate Albuss Pryscus is controversial. Over the years, he had changed considerably. Being one of the most radical and arrogant Justicier leaders, who continually rejected the aspirations of the non-Justiciers and swore allegiance to the conservative group, he became a liberal judge, prone to grant concessions to the global ones.
Pryscus is an amateur of the study of non-Justicier societies. Frequently, he cites a theory that considers the struggles between the Justicier State and the Global Alliance as a game that must be ended.
Markos KleinGros said:
-Magistrates, attorney, I am pleased to inform you that Tatiana Trustjust was born in the planet Haglan, specifically at the east of the Capital City.
-Taking into account her excellent professional trajectory and her services to the Justicier State, I propose to grant her with the Justicier nationality.
-Do you have objections?
Albuss Pryscus expressed:
-I understand the reasons of this decision.
-The problem is that we are giving a final message to the pragmatics of the Global Alliance, ratifying that we will never accept non-Justiciers in the universal government.
-With this action, my negotiation power is reduced.
Claudio Vikktorious exposed:
-Magistrate Pryscus, the pragmatics do not have much influence. Some returned to the group of the radicals and others are unconditional to the orders of Transcendence.
