Christmas Angel

About this ebook
A week before Christmas, in a new town, and Detective Sebastian Avanet ends up in the hospital with a bullet lodged in his shoulder—courtesy of a car thief who should have known better. The pain is bad but the medication they give him is worse. A dizzy brain leads him to proposition his very male nurse. Whoops!
Angel loves his job as a nurse in pediatrics. Occasionally he gets pulled into other departments to help out. He doesn’t mind. He can use the overtime.
But when a drugged up, sexy as hell detective offers him “crazy monkey sex”, the idea jumps to the top of Angel’s Christmas wish list.
Unfortunately, Angel suspects Sebastian might be straight and he’s not going down that path again.
His theory couldn’t be more wrong. And a moment under the mistletoe will start them through a year of Holiday Wishes.

Chapter One
Sebastian ground his back teeth, fighting the urge to growl.
We don’t have time for this,
he bit out instead of making animalistic sound. I'm getting out of here.
He swung his feet off the side of the bed.
Don’t be an asshole,
Alex Matthews—his sometimes partner and best friend—laughed. The chuckle was followed by a not so gentle nudge to Sebastian’s shoulder.
The one with the bullet hole in it.
Fuck!
Sebastian collapsed back on the bed.
Whoops. Wrong shoulder.
Sebastian panted as the pain ripped through the shoulder muscles and spread into this chest and arms.
The blood wasn’t a hint?
he snarled. His clenched jaw barely restrained the scream that threatened. Or really, it might be more of a whimper. He just knew he had to contain whatever sounds wanted to come out because he might embarrass himself.
Alex shrugged. They put a band aid on it. I don’t see any blood.
More like a large bandage. Once they’d seen Sebastian’s wound wasn’t deadly—just painful as hell—the emergency room nurses stripped off his clothes, gave him a gown with a breezy backside and an IV before sticking him in a room. He wanted to complain that they’d abandoned him but from what Alex had figured out from poking his head out the door, a car accident with multiple injuries arrived seconds behind them.
Just don’t touch me until you can figure it out.
Poor baby.
Fuck you,
Sebastian snarled. Alex laughed. The bastard laughed! Sebastian glared at the man he used to consider his best friend. I hate you right now.
I’m sorry I poked the bad shoulder.
Damn, he actually sounded contrite. But you can’t leave.
The hell I can’t.
Sebastian took a breath, bracing for the shock of pain he now knew to expect. He hated hospitals. Hated the smell. Hated the pale neutral walls. And needles. He hated needles with a vicious passion. He’d almost passed out when they put the IV in. Pride had kept him conscious but he wasn’t sure he had the strength to do it again. I’ve got to get out of here and find the asshole who shot me.
The bullet is literally still in your shoulder. You’re not going anywhere.
Sebastian recognized he was being an ass and completely stupid but he couldn’t just sit there. The asshole who shot him was running around with a gun, and clearly no regard for who he shot. He’d shot a fucking police officer and Sebastian had distinctly announced himself. Even warned the guy he was a fucking cop. Asshole still shot him.
I just want to talk to—
His feet hit the floor a bit harder than he’d intended and the resulting jolt moved up his spine and thumped his shoulder. He slammed his lips closed and moaned.
Sounds like we’re in a bit of pain.
A short blonde woman stood at the open door. I’m Doctor Bennett. Can you tell me your name?
Sebastian Avanet.
Birthdate?
Five, four, eighty-four.
She checked her chart and looked at the band on his wrist.
You passed the first quiz,
she said with a smile.
Sebastian tried to smile back but he was pretty sure it came out as more of a grimace.
Hey Doc.
The words flowed out of his mouth by habit while his brain assessed the doctor. Short, blonde and about his
