Modern Fantasies by Jonathan Evan Hudson

    CHAPTER ONE

Staring straight down at the vacant street, Cherry grimaced at the sidewalk – a mottled lime yellow rectangle as burnt brown as the lemon meringue pies her ditzy blond of a twin Bubblegum always baked far too long. Despite the summer night being humid enough to swim through.

Unlike their oven of an apartment after Bubblegum's latest cooking success – a sirloin steak breaded and topped with icing. The cozy cubby hole they called home normally had good enough air conditioning to keep her daily chocolate sundaes from melting for a solid ten minutes. Her human friends never noticed her nor her sister's sugary gluttony when confronted with so much
