The Necromancer and the Old Gods - Andrew Ben
1. Old God
Concentrating deeply with one finger against his temple, focusing on the ground where he sensed a buried body. " Brudularam ." The young necromancer growled in the back of his throat, almost whisper-like, as he summoned another skeleton to the battle against the wild bear. His concentration had to be as sharp as the edge of the knife he was carrying. If he lost control of the two summoned skeletons the battle would quickly be over. Without any protection the necromancer would end up mauled by the bear. A small skeletal hand pierced the soil as a third skeleton joined the battle . Why do I always find the children? The necromancer sighed as he the child skeleton got a yellow flame in its eyes, indicating its ready to receive his command. Immediately the bear lunged and struck the newly reanimated child skeleton with its paw, making bones scatter about the ground. You’re not too fond of children either, huh. The necromancer thought as he ordered the remaining two skeletons to fight the bear. One skeleton gathered all of the bear’s attention while the other circled around the back. It managed to strike the bear in the back of his neck, burying its skeletal fingers in the bear’s flesh. The bear cried out in pain, exposing its belly while trying to shake off the skeleton. The necromancer sees his opportunity, quickly directing the other skeleton to attack the bears weak spot. A mighty roar was heard making birds scatter from their nests. The bear falls down on the ground, dead. Sharp skeletal fingers had pierced its heart. The necromancer also collapses on the ground, a sharp pain enters his mind as he relaxes. Bones scatter around the bear as the summoning ritual ends.
The necromancer’s name is Dar-orosh, he’s a 19-year-old human necromancer from the town of Halle. His looks are fair, for a necromancer. Beaming blue eyes with a piercing look and blonde, white hair caught up in a ponytail. Dar-orosh is a quite inexperienced necromancer, he managed to reanimate skeletons just last year. Every time he does it, it takes a toll on him. Dar-orosh is traveling through uncharted woods in search for an ancient black tower. The tower is said to contain equipment worthy the most experienced necromancer. He expected little resistance until he found the tower, and when he did he was to report back to his master, Lok’ogar.
With a clear headache he butchers the bear with a knife, attempting to pull out the heart to eat later. The heart stabilizes his head, helping him regaining stamina and energy. Dar-orosh carefully cut off the artery making sure the bear’s body could later be used in honing his necromancy skills. Just as he held the heart in his right hand he felt a wave of heat on his face. The air on the horizon in front of him was distorted making it seem as if the far away trees were dancing and the air was boiling. Small rocks next to him began rolling towards the horizon and he could feel a shift in the gravitational pull, almost making him fall on his head. What the fuck?
he said as he stood up gazing at the horizon. What kind of devilry is over there? He thought. Remembering that not all creatures exist in the same dimension as ours he put his palms together, closing his
