Mara’s throbbing forehead rests against the cold tile wall of her shower as steam begins to fill the room from the hot water falling from the showerheads. Through heavily lidded eyes, she tiredly watches the shades of bright red fade to a murky pink as the water sluices blood and gore from her body to whisk it down the drain. In a weak attempt to block out the grisly reminders of her night, she closes her eyes and simply enjoys the feel of the scalding water raining down on her body. Too bad everything weighing on my soul cannot be washed away as easily as the evidence of this latest skirmish.

It’s been ten years since Mara Aphrodisios Montgomery officially agreed to act as Caomhnóir – the Eternal Guardian of the Beast Realm, in the stead of the yet to be resurrected Dragon Queens.
