My name is Mark Myers. I have always been conscious about my health and the health of others. I remember when I was growing up that our first preference before seeking a doctor’s advice or going to the hospital was to use medicinal plants or natural remedies. Then about ten (10) years ago, in 2002 to be exact, I joined the Symmetry Corporation. With Symmetry, I learned more about natural remedies and using herbal medicines to aid in different symptoms of diseases. I am now a One Star Area Field Vice President with the Symmetry Corporation. I am also a member and a 4A Executive of the Enagic USA Corporation (“Change your water, change your life”). I have also been awarded Director 1000 in the NuVerus Corporation. I am the owner of two herbal health stores, one located in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, and the other in Scarborough, Tobago. Based on this, I have, for the past few years, been researching different ailments for my customers. I was able to match their different ailments and recommend the natural remedies suited for each particular ailment. The results of this were amazing. The customers returned with mainly good reports. Because of this, I have learned so much about health and wellness that I was inspired to write this book. I pray that this book will be a blessing to you as this journey for good health has been a blessing to me.

33233.pngINTRODUCTION
¹⁹What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? ²⁰For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s
(1 Cor. 6:19-20, King James Version (KJV).
The Bible accurately tells us in Psalm 139:14, We are fearfully and wonderfully made.
God has given us each a body which is capable of constantly being rebuilt, rejuvenated, renewed, and restored to its integrity on a moment-by-moment basis (Hallelujah Acres 2013).
Our human bodies comprises of approximately 100 trillion living cells. Everything we are in the physical consists of these living cells: Our hair and nails are living, but because they are constantly growing, we have to cut them off periodically (Hallelujah Acres 2013).
Our skin, bones, blood, immune system, muscle, heart, and other organs and systems are living cells (Hallelujah Acres 2013). Each day, many of our blood cells are replaced. Our taste buds usually take approximately 2 weeks to replace themselves. The entire outer layer of our skin is replaced in about 4 weeks. Our bone structure takes about one year to be replaced. All our body’s living cells die and replace themselves at about the rate of 300 million per minute. This says that our body is a constant state of renewal (Hallelujah Acres 2013). That being so, we have been given an awesome responsibility to take care of our bodies and to recognize diseases when they try to enter our bodies. This part of us that seeks to stay healthy, combined with what we eat and drink, will greatly determine how long we live (Hallelujah Acres 2013).
The human body is a magnificent machine. When things go wrong, our bodies do not generally just shut down without warning, like an incandescent light bulb which pops its filament (Care2 2013). Rather, our body sends us tiny signals to inform us that something has gone amiss (Care2 2013).
According to Elson M. Haas, MD, San Rafael, California, a physician with a natural medicine approach and author of Staying Healthy with Nutrition, Physical signs and symptoms are ways your body tries to alert you to deeper imbalances
(Care2 2013).
Haas says that Taking the time to decipher the body’s codes is always better than simply popping a pill and hoping the symptoms just go away. Ideally, we want to get to the causes of problems, not just suppress the end result of ill health
(Care2 2013). To understand what these symptoms mean, we must know some of the warning signs.
Symptoms of Diseases was written to help us identify some of the signs of a number of diseases, explain what the particular disease is about and their causes, and recommend some treatment options.
Learning how to stay healthy is simple. Doing it takes effort, commitment, and some work. Over the years, we in Trinidad and Tobago, the Caribbean as well as the rest of the world have become exposed to foods, including fast foods
that are creating havoc with maintaining proper health. It has, therefore, become imperative that people keep track of their own physical health. Primary-care doctors have become increasingly pressed for time, and long-term doctor-patient relationships may now be harder to sustain. The growing emphasis on preventive medicine may also place more responsibility on persons to head off illnesses before they become serious.
Take diabetes for example. This disease alone costs most nations billions of dollars annually. It is a fact that people with diabetes have more than twice the average medical bills than those without. Signs of diabetes, from extreme fatigue and irritability to blurred vision, nausea, and vomiting, show up all over the body. Persons can choose to ignore these signs to their own peril.
Most of us are now aware that all cooked foods are dead foods and are incapable of properly nourishing a living body. We, however, remain the only species of the animal kingdom to move away from our natural instinct and not consume 100% of our food in its natural raw and living form.
It is the intention of this book to increase the awareness in all of us to become more engaged with our own bodies in order to recognize any physical changes that may occur as we seek to live a life free of pain and suffering. May you find the courage to make some serious lifestyle changes in your life today to ward off disease and sickness. Remember to give God all the glory!
Take care of yourself—Good health is everyone’s major source of wealth. Without it, happiness is almost impossible! Author Unknown
page%207.jpgACIDITY (Acid Stomach)
60275.png What is Acidity?
The stomach secretes acid that is vital in the process of digestion.
This acid helps to break down food during digestion. When the stomach produces excess acid by its gastric glands, it creates a condition called acidity. Some of the symptoms of acidity are dyspepsia, heartburn, and ulcers. Acidity is more common in persons who are highly emotional and nervous.
56899.png60275.png Common Causes of Acidity:
Consumption of alcohol, highly spicy foodstuff, nonvegetarian diets, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
60275.png Most Acidity Problems Occur—
After meals, when lifting weight or straining and applying pressure in the intra-abdominal area, and also at nights when lying down. Ulcers also occur as a result of over secretion of acid.

Suggested Treatment Options
39700.pngGive yourself a gentle, mild cleansing with botanicals and natural fibers. This nourishes and protects the colon with probiotics to support the friendly flora
in the colon. These natural ingredients work synergistically to cleanse and support the entire body, removing toxins and protecting the colon (Symmetry 2013). Drink ginger tea with aloe. Cook with or eat ginger snaps.
Use products that contain Resveratrol and Ellagic Acid. Use calcium products, Chamomile or Fennel Tea, Apple Cider Vinegar, or any other apple product. Also, chew almond nuts.
Change your diet to involve alkaline foods and beverages. What are alkaline foods and beverages? These are foods that are primarily made up of vegetables and fruits.
Vegetables include cauliflower, turnips, and carrots, but mostly, they consist of the greens,
such as celery, spinach, green beans, broccoli, kale, various grasses, and cucumber. Alkaline fruits consist of lemons, tomatoes, limes, grapefruit, rhubarb, and watermelon. Avocados are noted to be an excellent source of alkaline. Alkaline drinks include Kangen Water, alkaline ionized water, fresh vegetable juice, lemon water, herbal tea, and vegetable broth.
An old folk remedy for acidity is baking soda. I suggest mixing 1 tsp. of baking soda with 1 cup of warm water to help reduce the burning sensation. However, make sure that the baking soda is dissolved before drinking the solution. To combat the salty flavor, consider adding a little honey or even sugar.
page%209.jpgACNE
56746.png60275.png Understanding the Cause of Acne
Acne occurs when tiny holes, called pores, on the skin’s surface become blocked.
These pores open to a follicle which contains a hair and an oil gland. The oil released by the gland assists in removing old skin cells and keeps your skin soft. When glands produce excess oil, the pores can become plugged, resulting in the buildup of dirt and bacteria (Medline Plus 2013). This blockage is called a plug or a comedone. If the top of the plug is white, it is called a whitehead. If the top of the plug is dark, it is called a blackhead.
If acne is deep into your skin, it can cause hard, painful cysts, and it is called cystic acne. Acne is most common in teenagers, but anyone, including babies, can get acne (Medline Plus 2013). Three out of four teenagers have some acne. Hormonal changes may cause the skin to become very oily (Medline Plus 2013).
Acne tends to run in families. It may be triggered by—
60275.png hormonal changes related to puberty, menstrual periods, pregnancy, birth control pills, or stress
60275.png greasy or oily cosmetic and hair products
60275.png certain drugs (such as steroids, testosterone, estrogen, and phenytoin)
60275.png high levels of humidity and sweating
Research does not show that chocolate, nuts, and greasy foods cause acne. However, diets high in refined sugars may be related to acne (Medline Plus 2013).
39884.pngSymptoms of Acne
Acne commonly occurs on the face and shoulders, but it may also appear on the trunk, arms, legs, and buttocks (Medline Plus 2013). Acne can cause the following:
60275.png Blackheads
60275.png Crusting of skin bumps
60275.png Cysts
60275.png Papules (small red bumps)
60275.png Pustules
60275.png Redness around the skin eruptions
60275.png Scarring of the skin
60275.png Whiteheads
Suggested Treatment Options
Take a powerful, comprehensive multivitamin that is loaded with a comprehensive array of the most important vitamins and minerals that are essential for the proper nourishment and protection the human body needs to survive.
Enhance your skin’s natural beauty from the inside out and help repair your skin by ingesting some form of hair, skin, and nails caplets. This will provide you with healthy skin from within.
This takes care of any problems of the skin as well as maintaining clear, youthful skin.
Give yourself a natural cleanse. This could either be a Foot-Spa Detox or mild cleansing botanicals and natural fibers. Always wash your skin in clean water, using a gentle mild nondrying soap, and be sure to drink lots of alkaline or Kangen Water.
56694.png60275.png Some other things you can do:
Keep your hair off your face. Your hair contains oils and can cause breakouts
(Thoden 2013).
Include chromium in your diet. Chromium is great for healing skin infections
(Thoden 2013).
page%2012.jpgDrink juice or eat lots of carrots for beta-carotene and Vitamin A. Vitamin A strengthens the protective tissue of the skin and prevents acne (Thoden 2013).
Do not pick or squeeze your blackheads and pimples. By doing so, you rupture the membranes below your skin and cause infection and sebum to spread below your skin. This causes more pimples (Thoden 2013).
Wash your pillowcase every other day. As your face lies on your pillow each day, your pillowcase absorbs the oils from your skin and reapplies the dirt and oil to your face, and this results in more breakouts (Thoden 2013).
ANEMIA
60275.png What is Anemia?
Anemia is a condition in which your blood has an insufficient number of red blood cells. Anemia can also occur when your red blood cells do not contain enough hemoglobin. For this reason, doctors sometimes describe someone with anemia as having a low blood count and being anemic (Medline Plus 2013).
Hemoglobin is the oxygen-carrying protein within your red blood cells, which give
