Nothing quenches the thirst like a nice hot cup of tea,
sighed Grandma.
Alex wrinkled his nose.
You know why Grandma always drinks tea?
he whispered.
Why?
asked Tina in her most grown up voice.
Because it’s brown and horrible and tastes like dirt. Grandma always eats yucky stuff like peas, and onions, and cake with fruit stuff in it. That’s why she drinks tea all the time, because it’s yucky tasting.
She does not,
whispered Tina angrily.
Grandma always drinks tea because it’s hot and grandma is always cold. That’s why she always wears slippers and cardigans, to keep warm. She says hot tea warms the cockles in her heart, that’s why she always drinks it,
she explained.
Grandma peeped over the rims of her fogged up glasses and gave the teapot lid a pat.
