Chapter One
GRANNIE & POP’S ATTIC
Willy, Granny’s ginger and white cat, is seen running up the ladder to the Attic at number 26 Colton Lane. By Phillip aged ten, Victoria, his sister nine and their cousin Matthew aged seven, the three of them were all staying with their granny and pop for the school holidays. Let’s follow him
said Victoria.
Up the ladder they went, as they got to the top they saw Willy disappear through a blue doorway. The children followed. Just behind Willy. Matt said he was frightened, as he was the youngest. Phillip held his hand and reassured him, Victoria ran on ahead
Following Willy down through what seemed a long tunnel, Victoria signalled to the boys to stop and be very quiet, as she saw Willy come to the end. The children watch in amazement as Willy transformed into an imposing handsome man with long flowing ginger hair wearing a long ginger and white full length fur coat with a black fur collar. What really stood out were his piercing deep emerald green eyes.
Matthew cried out in fright. Phillip quickly put his hand over Matt’s mouth, Shh
he whispered, he will hear you."
Too late!
Willy turned around and looked at the three children with piercing green eye’s
Children what have you done, why did you follow me,
? Willy said quickly come with me.
Willy was about to explain why they should not have followed him through the blue doorway. Victoria couldn’t help but peer around the trunk of the tree. She squeals Elfie
they all look around and they see Gran’s pet Italian grey hound Elfie. Coming out of the tunnel he immediately turned into a small slim young man with light brown hair and deep brown eyes he was wearing a full length smooth haired brown and white coat
Elfie approached Willy and the three children. Phillip asked; What are you doing here?
I saw you all follow Willy when he passed over, by going through the coloured doorway.
Elfie replied. Victoria then asked what he meant by Willy passing over.
I will try to explain
he answered. You see children the doorways only open when we leave the human world and start a new life.
Elfie explained. You mean like when our Nan died?
asked Victoria. Yes very similar
, Willy answered, except we go to a different place, and metamorphically change into a different form. We look like humans except our ears are pointed he then lifted up his long ginger hair and showed them his pointed ears. The children looked wide eyed in amazement.
"But that doesn’t explain why you had to follow us, we can all just go back into the tunnel
Can’t we?" asked Phillip
"Well that’s the thing you see, going back down the tunnel is unfortunately not an option because it is only opened for a short while, just long enough for those
Who have passed over to come through" said Elfie.
Matthew started to cry. Victoria comforted him and said, Don’t worry, somehow we will figure out how to get back.
She looked at Willy and Elfie with large pleading grey blue eyes.
After some discussion between Willy and Elfie, it was decided to take the children to Tabitha’s house in the hope she would be able to come up with a way of getting the children back home safe and sound.
Who and what is Tabitha,
the children all asked.
Tabitha was once Gran’s most loved cat, who passed through many years ago.
Willy explained.
Willy took of a small brightly colored ring from his middle finger. listen carefully I am going to put this ring in the palm of my hand, and it will transport us to Tabitha’s house. It started to spin slowly at first then faster and faster until it came big enough to engulf them all. And then with a whoosh
They all found themselves standing on a veranda which was covered
