Chapter One

Crystal Sprite bowed her head as Aria, Queen of the Wood Sprites, announced her punishment for trying to force herself on the human male known as Damiano, General of the Dark Knights.

Aria shone like a golden torch of purity in the dark forest night. The others in the tribe gathered around to hear the pronouncement, and a hush had fallen over the crowd.

Though my love Damiano does not hold a grudge against you, Crystal, fairies cannot take advantage of humans. We have done this for too many centuries and have lost generations of fairy crossbreeds in the human lands.

It was true. Fairies were a horny lot, and their lusty desires often led them to entice humans and others who might not otherwise want to make love with them, sometimes resulting in pregnancies. The Fairy Otherworld Outreach Program, tasked with finding the descendants of these unions, had their work cut out for them.

This is a new age of fairies. An age of consent, Aria insisted. While not all fairy tribes were as progressive as the wood sprites, Crystal had been thrilled when she had evolved from a mere nymph and been accepted into a Sprite tribe. The Wood Sprites threw the best parties and attracted the sexiest guests. They definitely had the best music. She had always meant to hold up the consent part of the bargain...but her desires just got the best of her. She used her magic and her body to get what she wanted from the men.

A couple times. This last attempt had been one too many.

Tatiana, the previous Queen, had been more lenient, but Aria was a real...

She didn’t want to say ball-buster, all things considered, but Aria was strict, for sure.

Tears dropped down Crystal’s cheeks and formed diamonds on the woodland floor, but they would dissolve when the morning light touched them. Only a fairy who had been truly in love could create real diamonds with her tears.

And a fairy could only find true love and satisfaction with another fairy or a person with magic in their blood. This did describe Damiano, but his true love was Aria, the Queen.
