Dedication%20page.tifIt was one late afternoon in August. The sun’s rays shone down on the lake like a mirror on top of the lakes surface.
A breeze was rocking a rowboat with a mother and two boys, six and eight years old.
Birds and raccoons and whooping cranes all came out to that afternoon, to bask in the sunlight and play.
Yet underneath the water it was dark and murky and cold, deep. This is the north in Wisconsin where a national forest surrounds all the lake but for a tiny clearing where the dock and cabin are. A small wishing well made of gray stones greets you just before you reach the front porch.
