The Final Trip: The Squelching of a Dictatorship
By Byron Daring
()
About this ebook
In wars there are no winners. As in medicine, prevention (war avoidances) supersedes the effects of treatments (war conflicts). Also, as in medicine, there are two forms of prevention: primary (eliminate the factors that may lead to an illness), and secondary (when the illness occurs, complications may be avoided).
Wars can be precipitated by the response to aggression, and by a variety of economical, political and/or religious factors.
There are two types of wars: external (i.e. countries fighting each other) and internal (i.e. revolutions opposing a dictatorship).
Alex, an exiled physician, developed a plan which succeeded in the elimination of a ruthless dictator, without bloodshed and revolution (The Omega Project).
Advances in technology make possible the fatal action against a dictator. There are weapons and conventional tools which just require imagination and meticulous planning.
Once again, Alex and a group of talented, courageous freedom fighters, succeed in deposing another cruel dictator.

Byron Daring is the pseudonym of a young, imaginative author of numerous science-fiction books. Although his true name is not revealed, he has been a philosopher, a teacher of humanities, and a good friend of those who suffer. He has lived and traveled extensively throughout Europe, Africa, Asia, and America; however, his current whereabouts are unknown. He has used his vast knowledge and his contacts with exiled friends to write this novel. Readers of this book should think about the suffering of those who live under oppressive regimes. We can always administer assistance to those in need, regardless of where we are, and to whom the help is directed. We have an obligation to give back something of what we receive and that is one thing we should always keep in mind.

CHAPTER 1
Meeting in Isla Grande
Alex Martin and some members of the Omega Project were vacationing at the Costa Blanca Beach Resort in the pristine shores of Valero Beach. Even under the brutal dictatorship of its erstwhile leader, Fito, Isla Grande had always been the jewel of the Caribbean crown. Its natural beauty and diversity of wildlife made it a popular destination for ecotourism. Now finally free of the yoke of its overbearing leader, it could shine freely in all its splendor. Alex was wistfully pondering this point, when he received an urgent phone call from Isaac Schneider, the eldest member of his twelve-man crew. Sensing from Isaac’s tentative approach that it would take a while, he arranged to meet with him for lunch. Alex selected a restaurant with a terrace facing the clear waters and white, powdery, sandy beaches of this internationally renowned playground. Having arrived early, Alex greeted the balding, bespectacled Isaac as he left his taxi. He noticed his friend wore a sad expression. He would soon find out why. Isaac explained.
"Alex, as we were working on the Omega Project, I could not help thinking of the similarities between Isla Grande and Vendela. My family has had a connection with both of these countries that were formerly quite prosperous by Latin American standards.
"Some of my family have lived in Isla Grande for the past twenty years. We had originally come to America from Israel, and first settled in Vendela, South America. They established a very successful and lucrative textile business that thrived for many years. Vendela, like so many Latin American countries, has had a succession of corrupt governments, who sought bribes from the business sector in a pay-to-play charade of illegal enrichment. Recently, the last three dictators have established anti-Semitic policies that further exacerbated our operations and ultimately led to our decision to relocate to Isla Grande. Disappointingly, we endured another long-lasting dictatorship, which was first military, then a self-proclaimed ‘revolutionary’ government. In reality, it was little more than a madman’s private land. Luckily, this regime was finally abolished by the Omega Project.
Many Jewish families, like ours, thrived in the banking and textile industries. We were initially called pollocks, as if we came from Poland. Our strong accent caused this mistaken identity. The truth is my family has grown to love Vendela and its multicultural population. We feel like we belong. Unfortunately, it is suffering under the same ills that seem endemic in populist Latin American regimes.
Isaac paused. His eyes grew misty as he spoke. This made Alex all the more sympathetic as he knew that Isaac was a hard-nosed realist and not sentimental in the least.
"Alex, would you consider a plan to get rid of Humberto Velez and help Vendela, as you did for the citizens of Isla Grande? Throughout the years, since the fall of Masada, we Jews have been a nomadic people, without a country. Finally, after the horrors of the Holocaust, the state of Israel was created in 1947. Even now, we are still fighting against extremist Islamic groups in countries that completely surround us. For our families around the world, we can only aspire to integrate with other societies, live in peace, and enjoy the fruits of our labor. Is this asking too much? Alex, you have a powerful sense of justice and a brilliant mind. You have always been motivated to help others and to do the right
