The Standoff and Kramer Too! is a charming, memorable book about family dynamics. Children will recognize their own sentiments and personal experiences in the story. The evocative illustrations and captivating lines drew me in immediately. I found myself cheering on David and Jack: Find Kramer Two. Together you can do it! Donald E. Sexauer shows us the meaningful and important role animals can play in the lives of people of all ages.

Nine year old Jack learns with his sixteen year old cat, Kramer, that life requires choices. Sometimes these choices are hard to make, especially when a new baby is born and seems to be the center of everyone’s attention. In “Kramer and Jack Make Choices”, Jack begins to understand the meaning of compromise: he must adapt and accept what life deals him. Kramer seems to know all this intuitively.
