About this ebook

The world is at its end, falling to the undead creatures known as the Entity. A small army of men and women with special abilities and powers have united and teamed up to defeat the Entity, branding themselves The Alliance. But standing in their way is also another army, just like the Alliance, built of men and women of the same calibre of strength and power, but with different intentions. They fight for the Entity, and it is up to Dean and his warriors to save the human race, but their odds are slim to none.
The world has fallen apart and yet, we stand here together. Against the odds, we are still here. Together we will end this reign of the Belligerents. Together we will fight! Together we stand united!
Blood is spilled and heroes fall. Can they succeed in their mission against such low odds?

I like to write books that get straight to the point, with plenty of action, and always keeping the reader on the edge of their seats. In this book there is, of course, a love story, and it is also the tale of a journey to find a kidnapped best friend. The story is fiction, with groups of people who hold super powers, divided into different colours depending on their strength, i.e., Green Warriors being the Elite. And, of course, there is a wicked twist to the tale at the very end.

I T HAD BEEN five months since the Battle of the Dam. The Entity and Belligerent numbers were still growing rapidly. Since the ex-Warrior Phil had turned against the Alliance and joined the Belligerents, the warriors had to abandon their hideout in the old sewers, and were now in a temporary base. The warriors had recently joined forces with a small society of martial arts experts.

The new members of the Alliance are known by the name of The Monks. This newly formed Alliance has members with supernatural powers. Now, the warriors that were experts in close quarter combat moved around in a convoy of trucks, vans, cars, motor homes and even a few motor bikes. Any vehicle that they came across, which wasn’t burnt out and still worked, was claimed by the Alliance. The vehicles they had claimed so far weren’t pretty to look at, but they still did the job that humanity built them to do. They moved location about once a month, constantly on the move to avoid any unexpected attacks by either Entity or Belligerent.

After the bloody Battle of the Dam, they had received a great deal of information from Phil. They learned of the locations of several hideouts of Belligerent bases but had no real leads on the whereabouts of the missing Green Warrior, Bobby. Many believed that Bobby was dead, but Dean somehow knew he was out there, somewhere, alive. Dean wasn’t going to give up on searching until he found his friend and brought him home. In the last five months, they had destroyed all but one of the known hideouts of the Belligerents. So far, they could get little information from the Belligerents they had captured, as most of them knew little about their leaders and their locations, and those that did know, would gladly die protecting it.

The Green Warriors were heading the mission to the last known location of their enemy. After their losses at the battle of the Dam, they had made their team numbers up with three Elite Monks: Logan, Chopper, and Ben. The team were travelling to the Belligerent hideout by minibus. The minibus was heavily armoured and had three machine guns attached to it—one on each side, and one to the rear, each pointing outward from the vehicle, and each weapon was manned by a monk marksman.

Dean was staring out into the country lanes. The trees and bushes were zooming past in a mesmerising scene in front of him. He had been searching tirelessly for his friend, and he was starting to wonder if he would ever find Bobby. He couldn’t help but feel that the outcome of this mission would be the same as the others. John was sitting up front talking to the driver, Sarah. He was laughing and joking as always, telling Sarah, who was second in command of the Green Warriors, about his upbringing and how this place had reminded him of a certain young lady, who had officially made him a man late one night out in the woods. Zack and Monica where talking quietly amongst themselves. Zack was covered from head to toe in scars. The battle of the Dam had almost claimed the warrior’s life, but Zack, being tough, had pulled through and lived to tell the tale. Despite his scarred face and body, he was still a good-looking young man, and the female warriors adored him, but his heart belonged to Monica. Zack was whispering something into Monica’s ear, which made her giggle. In the past, this would have made Dean jealous, but not now. Dean’s crush on Monica had long faded, and he was now in love with Jasmine, and she loved him.

Jasmine was sitting at the head of the minibus, listening in to John’s stories from the past. She turned her head back and noticed Dean staring out the window in a daze. Jasmine had become worried about Dean. The search for Bobby seemed to take over his life and it was starting to affect their relationship. She stood up from her seat and walked the length of the minibus toward Dean, stepping over the two gunners positioned on the flanks of the vehicle. She sat down next to Dean.

How are you holding up? she asked in a soothing voice.

Dean kept his gaze toward the country roads. Taking a while to realise that it was he who had been spoken to, he snapped out of his daze, blinking rapidly, as if he had just woken up. He looked into Jasmine’s eyes and let out a sigh. I just feel like this is going to be a waste of time. Just like the previous missions. His eyes left Jasmine’s and turned back to the fast-passing countryside. I just wish there was something more I could do… Dean paused midway through his sentence, fighting back the anger bubbling up inside of him.

Jasmine placed her hand onto his arm and told him, We will find him, Dean. It just takes time. Dean nodded, turning back to face her. Jasmine smiled and gave Dean a kiss.

    Thank you.

You’re saying thank you for a kiss? Jasmine smiled at his cuteness.

No… Dean smiled and continued, Thank you for putting up with me. I know I haven’t been around much lately—and, well—thank you.

That’s… Jasmine was cut off as a monk yelled an order.

Entity, nine o’clock! The monk on the left side of the minibus shouted the alarm, and everyone turned to his view. The driver and the two other monks kept their eyes on their own posts.

Hold fire! John shouted, A single Entity… John mumbled to himself as he looked out at the creature. It was very rare to find an Entity on its own.

It must be a trap. It may be being used as bait, Monica guessed.

I don’t think it’s a trap. I can only feel this one, Dean said.

Okay, stop the bus. John gave the order.

The minibus came to a halt, and everyone got prepared for battle. It was only a single Entity, but to stay alive in these desperate times, everyone had to be prepared for the worst at all times. Dean stood up, sheathing his short sword and tightening his weapons belt.

The monk who was posted at the rear of the vehicle was Logan, the leader of the monks. Logan was a tough-looking guy. His head was completely bald and the scars that he had on his scalp gave him an eerie look. His scars were from before the uprising of the Entity. His facial hair was always neatly trimmed. Some of the other monks had made jokes in the past about their leader and his lack of hair on top. This made him determined to keep his goatee intact. Logan soon shut his teammates
