About this ebook

The story of a child who cries for help in the dark in hopes of finding a way to the light, without knowing that he is part of that darkness and light himself. The child was born between two tribes: darkness tribe and lightning tribe. His mother, Adjo, wandered off from the darkness tribe to meet her lover, who was the childs father, Kafui, from the lightning tribe. They both knew their union could be fatal because of the differences of their tribes, but their love blinded them to know how different they were. Their inevitable love was rejected by both the darkness tribe and lightning tribe.

Worried about the outcome of their forbidden love, they suddenly got scared and fled from the mistake they had made; the two lovers realized how their difference could not be reconciled. They both rejoined their tribes for fear of meeting again, but it was too late because the seed of their love already began to sprout into an unborn child. From their inevitable love came a newborn child who was a combination of the two tribes of darkness and lightning and whom the two tribes decided to eliminate.

There was an elderly woman in the darkness tribe named Pauline, who seemed to be the childs grandmother and who had supernatural powers that could balance both darkness and lightning. The elderly woman then secretly took the child for fear that both lightning and darkness tribes could destroy the child and that the mother could not balance the two combinations of darkness and lightning within the child and protect him at the same time. The elderly woman Pauline escaped to many different tribes to raise the child; she named the child Komla, meaning the birth of two strong powers.

Growing up, Komla realized he was part of the darkness and the lightning tribes, who rejected him, and that he lost the only sparkle of light that cared and protected him. He felt lonely, and out of blame, he projected himself into a nocturnal darkness.

    CHAPTER 1

The Beginning and Birthing of the Combination of Two Tribes That Could Never Unite

There were two tribes: the darkness and lighting tribes. Both tribes never interacted because of the stronger supernatural power the lightning tribe possessed over the darkness tribe. It could harm the darkness tribe. In case of interaction, the darkness tribe could be destroyed. That caused conflict between the two tribes, and they could not face each other; and since the two tribes were enemies, they acted like rivals. The lightning tribe also did not interact with the darkness tribe for fear that they could mix with them and produce an offspring strong enough to destroy the entire lightning kingdom.

One day, two young individuals from both tribes interacted; but no energy was created to set them both apart, which caused the two young individuals named Adjo and Kafui to fall in love with each other as if there was no difference between them. A young lady from the darkness tribe Adjo went for a walk outside of her tribe and stumbled across a young man Kafui from the lightning tribe; they quickly fell in love but kept their love a secret. They secretly met up outside of their tribes due to the difference between their tribes. Out of their love games came a shocking surprise. In fear of that surprise, they unwillingly separated. No one knew about Adjo’s love for Kafui and the creation of their two combined mighty powers, because it was impossible to believe the two tribes could be joining both emotionally and physically. Due to the difference between darkness and lightning, it will be impossible for darkness to cross over to lightning.

During a dinner gathering of Adjo’s tribe, an unknown voice suddenly addressed an elderly woman at the dinner table by her name. Pauline, Pauline, help me! Everyone at the table was left frozen in silence and curiosity.

Pauline replied to the unknown voice, Who are you, and where are you?

The unknown voice responded, I am here next to you but trapped in the darkness. Before Pauline could ask the unknown voice another question, everyone at the table broke from their silence. The table was back to normal, and the unknown voice also stopped. At that moment, Pauline noticed that Adjo seemed to be vexed

Later that night, Adjo knew that the unknown voice came from her womb; Adjo secretly called Pauline to explain the mistake she had made. Mother, the voice who called for your help was from my womb. I fell in love with the prince of the lightning tribe, and from that began to sprout an unborn infant, said Adjo. The poor elderly woman could not explain how that situation was possible to occur between the two tribes. Pauline lifted her head for a quick stare. Without a response, she excused herself from Adjo but maintained the secret.

From that day, Adjo hid her pregnancy from her father (the king of the darkness tribe) and the inhabitants of the darkness tribe for fear that they would know the mistake she had made with Kafui, whom the darkness tribe called the prince of death because of the mysterious power Kafui and his tribe possessed. Also, the inhabitants of the darkness tribe could not accept the presence of a mysterious power or a combination of lightning and darkness within a child for fear that the child could dominate them, take over their entire kingdom of darkness, and then combine their kingdom with the kingdom of lightning, which they described as their evil rival tribe. It was also their enemy because of the superior power the lightning tribe possessed to control them.

Adjo hid her pregnancy from her father because she was concerned that he could take her as a traitor because of her pregnancy. Adjo isolated herself from her own people; and since then, Adjo felt alone and abandoned by her lover and her tribe. As weeks went by, Adjo could no longer keep the pregnancy hidden. The inhabitants of the darkness tribe were questioning who impregnated Adjo, but their question was left unanswered. Pauline knew that her husband was capable of eliminating Adjo’s child, which was why she immediately hid Adjo’s pregnancy from him. Pauline knew that if her husband discovered that Adjo’s pregnancy was by the son of his enemy, the queen of the lightning tribe, and whom they called the prince of death because of his cruel treatment of the inhabitants of the darkness tribe with his terrifying powers, he could take this as an act of crime and could severely punish their own daughter.

Pauline worried that her husband may execute Adjo before she could give birth to the unborn child. Pauline thought that was the reason the unborn child cried for help inside his mother’s womb. Pauline had a strong faith that the unborn child could possibly have a mighty power to maintain peace between the darkness kingdom and the lightning kingdom. The king of the darkness tribe knew that his daughter Adjo and her mother, Pauline, were hiding something from him, but he did not have any idea of what they were hiding from him.

The inhabitants of the darkness tribe began to murmur about Adjo’s pregnancy. The king of darkness heard the rumors but ignored them because he had never seen Adjo being interested in any young man within the darkness kingdom. With the rumors made by the inhabitants of the darkness kingdom, Pauline knew that her daughter’s pregnancy could no longer be kept a secret from everyone. Pauline immediately went to see her husband for his permission to visit her sisters, whom she did not see for a long time. Pauline asked her husband’s permission to take Adjo to accompany her during her voyage, and the king of darkness agreed to her wishes and demands.

Pauline took Adjo to find harborage for her and her unborn grandchild so that the inhabitants of the darkness tribe do not interfere with Adjo’s issues, in order to provide the help that the unborn child had asked her for. Pauline and Adjo went for refuge in an isolated ranch that was far away from the darkness tribe. On the day of the child’s birth, the two tribes felt an unusual event occur: white clouds joined black clouds, and lightning was created and suddenly disappeared, as if nothing had occurred. Both kingdoms—darkness and lightning—felt the presence of two strong powers. Both tribes could describe their own forces but were surprised that they were combined.

Kafui finally confessed to his mother, the queen of lightning, the mistake that he committed with his lover, Adjo, who gave life to a mighty creature. She feared that the child would be strong enough to take over her entire kingdom and that she could be removed from the throne of being queen and ruler of her kingdom of lightning. With her warriors, the queen of lightning quickly went to the location where the force was produced to stop the infant before it became too late.

At the same time, the king of darkness realized that his wife, Pauline, probably hid something from him. Feeling a strong power being produced, the king of darkness had a reason to believe the rumors concerning Adjo’s pregnancy, which the inhabitants of the darkness tribe were murmuring about. The king of darkness realized the reason his wife asked for his permission to see her sisters and insisted that Adjo accompany her. The king of darkness was acquainted with Adjo carrying the combination of powers made by their enemies—the inhabitants of the lightning tribe; the king of darkness directly went to the direction where the force was produced to stop the unbelievable force before it became too late.

The two tribes decided to destroy the combination before it became any stronger, but Pauline felt the presence of both tribes coming, so she quickly took the child and escaped before both tribes could reach the newborn child. However, Pauline left Adjo behind because she was too weak to escape with her mother and the newborn child.

The two tribes arrived at the same time at the birthplace, only to find out the elderly woman already had taken the child. The king of darkness could not execute Adjo because she was his daughter, but the king kept Adjo in hostage for later punishment. The king then set out to find the escaping elderly woman and the newborn child. Both tribes persisted in capturing the child. Pauline escaped into a windy and rainy fog to complicate the two tribes’ quest to find her and the child. In cold, wetness, and
