Ralph Crawford was baptized as a child and lived most of his life as a believer, but not a follower, of God. That changed in 2008 when he first heard Cam Huxford at Savannah Christian, the church with the mission of leading people to a life changing connection with Jesus Christ. Ralph was soon baptized, became a member of the church, and a volunteer on the Traffic Team. He lives in Savannah, Georgia with his wife Suzanna and their daughter Meggie, a West Highland terrier. He is a stepfather to their sons Christopher and Alex.

PREFACE

Shortly after my wife, Suzanna, and I were baptized, we became concerned about making sure our families were saved. Christians feel a personal compulsion to share the happy life they live with nonbelievers, and Jesus told them to do so. You can share your personal story, but unless you are professionally trained, it is difficult to talk about God with nonbelievers. You have trouble answering their questions. You feel pressure to convince them instead of letting them make up their own minds.

There are many fine books about God, but He is a big subject. My wife and I never could find one that contained all the information we wanted to gently discuss with loved ones whom we wanted in heaven with us. We wanted a summary of facts, not opinions, to break the ice—something to lay out the evidence and answer the main questions so that they could decide for themselves.

After our pastor exhorted us to use our talents to serve God, I believe God placed it on me to write such a book. I had no idea how to start, but I had absolute faith that God would show me the way—and He did. All of the facts point toward our creation by God, and the evidence is overwhelming. Just as everyone who hears God’s message can easily understand it, everyone who hears the facts can easily understand the evidence of God’s creation.

IS GOD REAL?

Yes, God is! As of the year 2013, practically every major discovery in science in the last eighty years has led to one inescapable conclusion: the universe, our earth, and man are constructed in a unique, complex, and orderly way. They are not just complex and orderly; they have been fine-tuned with such precision, and to a degree so extraordinary, that there is absolutely no doubt that everything we know did not—could not—happen randomly or naturally on its own. Rather, our universe was designed to exist and function the way it does. And if everything shows this evidence of design, then it must have had a designer who has an intelligence far greater than anything we know. All of the recent scientific evidence points to intelligent design, and design in living things points to there being only one capable Designer/Creator: God.

This evidence comes from many different fields of science, including but not limited to biochemistry, biology, cosmology, astronomy, mathematics, paleontology, and genetics. You likely learned some of this information in high school. As amazing as this information is now, back then, it was probably not as exciting as girls, boys, music, movies, and other important subjects. But much has been discovered in just the last thirty years, and though the evidence is known, it is not taught in our schools or spread throughout our culture, so some of this may even be news to students now in high school or college. The nature of this recently discovered evidence led scientists in many different fields at the end of the twentieth century to independently conclude that everything we know was intelligently designed.

These were the scientists—mostly atheists who did not believe in God—who stayed true to the scientific method. As professionals in their own fields of science, they followed where the evidence led, regardless of their religious opinions, and each came to realize on his or her own that all the evidence pointed to intelligent design, which in turn pointed directly to God. Even though many did not believe in God, their science did not lie. There was only one answer: God. Atheists used science to prove that God exists!

But there are many more scientists who think differently. People process information through the filter of their own belief system, and since the first way in which people separate themselves from each other is by religion, many find it hard to accept information that contradicts their religious beliefs. That is why many scientists don’t believe in God and don’t want to believe in intelligent design. They want a natural explanation for what occurred—an explainable cause for the effect they see. They cannot accept a miracle, because they believe that, as with some card trick, there must be a natural explanation for what happened. They only have to find it.

But sometimes this answer just doesn’t work. Sometimes things are too complex to have evolved. Sometimes the facts don’t lead where you expect them to. And when this happens, it is hard for many scientists to accept, so they will not accept these facts, and they refuse to discuss them at all. They voluntarily forfeit their scientific integrity. As you will see time and again, scientists who do not believe in God will take the position that evolution occurred, even if the evidence shows evolution is extremely unlikely and others feel the odds are impossible.

These scientists refuse to discuss intelligent design in open debate on the world stage, for to do so, they say, will give credence to this false science. They do not refute it in their scientific journals or even mention it in public, because they cannot deny the proof that God exists. Meanwhile, they hold out hope for an explanation of how the universe and man came into existence randomly by accident and in a natural way. They are terrified of design, because it is their science that proves that life could not evolve. It is their science proving God to them. They realize it now takes more faith to believe in their evolution and to not believe in God. Those who do not accept intelligent design will not voluntarily discuss it, or God, in public.

They are assisted in this deception. It is well known that in America, the three primary television networks—ABC, CBS, and NBC—are dominated by liberals and those who do not believe in God. So are most of our major newspapers and much of the Hollywood moviemaking industry. At a time when roughly 80 percent of Americans believe in God, those who don’t believe in God control practically all of the major media outlets in America except for radio broadcasting. As professors, teachers, and administrators, they also control what is taught in most of our colleges and high schools. And unfortunately, many of them are now judges, officials, and bureaucrats in our federal, state, and local governments. This is why evolution, though now proven to be far-fetched, is still the only means of creation taught in our educational system. Evolution is the only means of creation mentioned on television or pandered throughout our culture. Those against intelligent design use the Constitution’s First Amendment wording—Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion—to prevent discussion of it in our schools, even though intelligent design can be proven and taught without ever mentioning God.

Science has proven that God exists, but all we hear about is evolution. Evolution is always mentioned not as a possible theory but as a fact—a foregone conclusion that everyone knows is true and that none should question. Our children learn about evolution in high school, and it conflicts with any religious teaching they have had as children and might continue to have as teenagers. When they get to college, they are confronted by professors who actively promote evolution as a truism. The rule that evolution is the only means of creation taught in public schools and universities not only is a gentleman’s agreement between our educators but also continues to be upheld in our courts. This shame is occurring right now all over America, a nation that was founded as a bold experiment under the guidance of God!

Evolution is a virus that affects us deeply. Even the faithful—those who believe in God—learned about evolution in school. Like everyone else, they have not taken the time to sit down and research exactly why the theory of evolution does not work. So even those who believe God created everything might sometimes have a little part of their minds that wonders, What exactly is the truth about how everything works with our creation? Or when their pastor or priest tells them that God created everything, they might think, Exactly how is this true? Even those who believe in God’s creation can have doubts without more information.

Our culture is besieging God on all sides. The public discussion belittles everything about Him and promotes the flash and bang of wild times. Instead of honoring moral pureness, our culture glorifies those who glorify themselves. When people prayed in public schools fifty years ago, they were safe from violence. God has now been removed from our schools, and there are mass shootings in them. Intelligent people refuse to acknowledge that these two simple facts are related. Our courts are now being used to remove prayer from public functions, mentions of God from public speeches, and the Christian symbol of the cross from public displays. Our national abortion law approves the killing of unborn babies. God is being removed before our eyes by a movement that backs a single atheist anywhere who objects to any mention of God. Single individuals use our judicial system to establish laws over the objection of the majority—those who are offended by the removal of the God of everyone, including atheists.

Based on the 2012 presidential election, when 80 percent of Americans said they believed in God, the voice of America now apparently wants a candidate and party that are totally against God. The Democrats say they stand for abortion, homosexual marriage, and giving schoolchildren birth control without their parents’ knowledge. The Democratic Party platform removed the last remaining reference to God. And during the convention, when voting to add back the words God given to describe people’s abilities, three times the attendees voted no, but the words were added back anyway. The sole Democratic political strategy was to call the Republican candidate a liar about everything. And the Democrats won. America seems to be saying it is completely against God. But is this the will of the American people, or do those who do not believe in God now control our government?

This is why today, the mood in America has turned ugly. The majority of Americans believe in God, but it appears our government is against God, as are our educational establishments, the mainstream media, and most of the Hollywood moviemaking industry that shapes our culture. Our schools refuse to teach any creation remotely linked to God, and He is being removed from public buildings and public gatherings. It seems those who don’t believe in God are controlling our lives, and we are about to lose Him completely from America. Can we do anything to stop this?

Yes, you can do something about it. With little effort, you can make a huge difference in helping to turn the tide back toward God. You can start creating much more good in the world, and with a minimum amount of effort, you can reap maximum rewards. First, read this book, consider the evidence, and believe in God. Then work on getting your family and friends to believe and be saved. Second, follow God and live a morally upright life as an example of your faith, becoming a lighthouse for God’s light to shine from within you. Third, spread God’s teachings by helping others, especially those most in need of His mercy. And fourth, apply God’s teachings by praying regularly and working politically and legally to keep God in America.

There is a new season of belief in God upon us. The information we have recently discovered proving we were intelligently designed shows that God is revealing Himself to us now for a reason—so that He can be made known to everyone in the world. Is it a coincidence that at the end of the twentieth century, the Internet was created at the same time that we made the discoveries that led us to believe in intelligent design? Out of all the amazing things that are possible on the timeline of mankind, we discovered a means of spreading information instantaneously throughout the world at the very same time that we discovered information revealing that God is real and created us. Coincidence or not, we must make use of this fortuitous event.

That is the purpose of this book—to present some of the wealth of evidence that God is real. I will present just a small portion of the vast amount of information that has recently been discovered. You will first see the lack of evidence that the universe and man were created naturally. You will see how cosmologists who don’t believe in God think the universe began and how the big bang explanation has morphed into the standard model of cosmology. I will also explain how scientists who don’t believe in God believe evolution created man and how natural selection and gene mutation have morphed into what is now called the current evolutionary synthesis. You will be able to see the strengths and weaknesses of the arguments for random natural creation of man and the universe. You will be able to compare these arguments against the scientific facts discovered and see that they point only to God. You will see some of the recently discovered scientific evidence about the human body that reveals how amazingly complex some of the smallest things about us are. This information is so amazing that you will realize that these body systems had to have been designed to function as they do, and you will understand that because they were designed, they could have come only from God, for there is no other conceivable explanation.

After proving God’s creation of the universe, the earth, and man, I will show you further evidence that evolution could never have occurred. You will read about the biological proof that God created us. You will see the historical evidence and how it has been proven that the Holy Bible is the most historically accurate ancient text known to man. As you will observe, the evidence shows that Jesus performed many miracles and was resurrected from the dead, as over five hundred people saw him in the flesh on one occasion after his death. This book will show that the Holy Bible really is God’s Word and that Jesus really is the Son of God.
