Prologue
Lightning Lord woke up from a very long sleep. He was in his lair. His lair floated in the air. It was perfectly camouflaged so nobody knew it was there. He walked around his lair. His lair had windows that showed its location above the atmosphere. His view of earth was the same as the astronauts on the space station. He had television screens. He had a couch and tables. He had no pictures on his walls.
He thought to himself about how his evil goal of an unpopulated world would finally become a reality. Lightning Lord made frequent flights over White Horse for a couple of weeks. People saw it. People photographed it. There were rumors.
Lightning Lord saw that there were more people on the earth than before his long sleep. He was also lazy. He wanted super villains to do his work. He could then play video games all day and night. He found video games while he was exploring what the world had become. He loved them.
A family was in a car at the intersection of Yukon 1 and Yukon 2. It was a rainy day. Lightning Lord and his panther were there. Lightning Lord zapped the panther. When that happened, the ground under the vehicle sank at a rate of one foot per second. It stopped when it was 20 feet deep. The mother driving the car was frozen with fear. You would be frozen in fear and confusion too. When the ground stopped sinking, a blue portal opened. A panther came out of it. The panther became humanized.
Hunter said, It has been a while. Are you still evil? Do you still want this earth to have no people?
.
Lightning Lord said, I don’t want people on this earth. I don’t care if God or the earth want people on it.
.
Lightning Lord tried to zap Hunter with lightning. Hunter opened a portal in front of himself. The lightning went through the portal. Outside of the hole another portal opened. The lightning exited the portal outside of the hole. Canadian Royal Mounted Police agent Marc Strong was driving by when that happened.
Lightning Lord’s black magic panther charged Hunter. Hunter opened a portal. The panther went through it. Lightning Lord flew away. Lightning Lord flew by Marc Strong’s car. Marc wasn’t sure about what he had seen because people can’t fly. The thing going by him was too fast to be certain. Marc thought about human shaped beings that can fly. Marc would have expected a god or angel to be glowing more than the being that flew by him.
Marc drove into the hole. Maybe he would have noticed it if he wasn’t distracted by the flying being that zoomed past him. Before he crashed into the bottom of the hole Hunter opened a portal under him. The portal exit was on the road on the other side of the hole. Marc stopped quickly while trying to understand what had happened.
In the hole the rain was gathering without a place to go. The family in the car was beginning to panic. Hunter opened a portal in front of them. They didn’t know what to do.
The father in the passenger seat said, That thing came second. It might be a good guy.
.
The child on the right side said, Yeah, a kitty.
.
The mother said, I don’t know.
.
The father rolled down his window and called out to Hunter, Hey, who are you? What should we do?
.
Hunter explained, "I am Hunter. I am a super hero. That tall man who just left is Lightning Lord. He is a super villain. Drive through that blue circle. They drove through the circle and almost hit Marc because Hunter didn’t expect him to stop when he came out of his portal. After the family dodged Marc, they pulled over. The husband got out of the car and ran over to Marc’s car. Marc got out.
Marc demanded, What happened? Are you alright? Did you make that hole?
.
The father said, We didn’t make it. We are surprised but otherwise well. We—
.
Marc said, Hold that thought. Do you have any emergency flares or reflective triangles?
.
The father said, I think I have something.
Marc said, Help me put out those things, so people don’t end up in the hole.
.
The two of them marked the hole on all sides with emergency road flares and reflective triangles from
