About this ebook

When I was a small child, my grandfather made whole family pray. I remember that some of the family members used to get tired of praying everyday. They would run away from the main farm house and hide. However, that would not stop granddad Maxin Mwanyenya Mutambanengwe. It was like some fire had been put on him. He would pick up his walking stick and go round all the outer buildings as though he was hunting for a thief.

Why did he do that everyday? He would come back with all the boys who were hiding from him. Only then would the prayers start. He never got tired of this activity. Even if only one of the boys was not there he would stop and go and look for him.

Now I know he was actually fighting with the devil. I am sure he used to chase the devil away from all his grandchildren.

We had the bible but in those days he is the one who read the bible for us. He loved singing therefore we had a praise and worship session and then read from the word of God. Then he would pray and dismiss everyone.

Now that I know, I hope Prayers that Moved Mountains Still Move Mountains will be of assistance to those families that wish to have prayers on a daily basis. Just as reference to how these people prayed and how their prayers were answered. Prayers that Moved Mountains Still Move Mountains is a selection of powerful prayers. Men of God prayed and these prayers were answered in most miraculous ways.

God will answer you just as he answered those powerful men and women. He has answered my minor and major prayers.

Jesus offered prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears.

Florence Marilyn Mwandiitaani Mutambanengwe was born in Harare on the 1st of June 1942. She is the second child of nine children; six boys and three girls. She grew up on farm with her Grand-father a Methodist Reverend and Step-grand-mother until she was six and she went back to Harare to school. She did her primary education in Harare, went to boarding school for Grade 8, which they called Standard Six. Then she did her Secondary Education at Old Mutare Mission School. She went back to Harare where she trained as a Nurse for three and half years. She left Nursing and went to Ghana where she was trained as a Secretary. Later she went to Canada where she did an Instructors Diploma at the University of British Columbia. Professionally she worked as a Private Secretary for fifteen years; then worked as a Lecturer for nineteen years. Though she was born in a Methodist Christian family, married to an Anglican Christian family; she became a Born Again Christian in 1986. She became a Deacon in the Ambassador’s for Christ Ministries International Church and was later ordained as an Elder. In this respect she attended and organised several workshops and conferences and has been to many different countries. Her passion in all her books is for people to read the bible for themselves. And get the word directly from God and experience what God has in store for them. This is her fourth book, which goes to show that what the bible says: that with God anything is possible is true if you press on. Florence has looked after several orphans and widows; and gets satisfaction in seeing how well the orphans have turned out. Most of them are doing exceedingly well.

    APPENDIX

Prayers that Moved Mountains Still Move Mountains

    Introduction

It is so interesting to know that praying is just speaking to God. It is like talking to your dad about something that matters a lot to you or to someone else. Therefore you have to know who you are talking to first of all. The way you know your dad, is the way you would have to know God.

God himself normally gives us direction on how we should go about praying as stated in the following verses:

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

    (2 Chronicles 7:14)

But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the judge of all men, to the spirits of righteous men made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel (Hebrews 12:22 – 24)

Once you make it a habit of speaking to God, through his Son Jesus Christ you will have opened a door into a whole new experience. It is true that burdens are lifted and prayers are answered. This is one of the major reasons that I selected the prayers that I have included in this book. God answers prayers.

    The aim therefore is:

black.jpg    To provide a list of biblical prayers.

black.jpg    To identify the situations in which they were used.

black.jpg    To relate them to our own current situations.

black.jpg    To expect results from our own prayers

When I was a small child, my grandfather used to make the whole family pray. I remember that some of the family members used to get tired of this praying everyday situation. They would run away from the main farm house to other outer buildings. However, that would not stop granddad Maxin Mwanyenya Mutambanengwe. It was like some fire had been put on him. He would pick up his walking stick and go round all the outer buildings as though he was hunting for a thief.

Only now it makes sense to me.

Because of this all my brothers and sisters turned out well.

I know we had the bible but in those days he is the one who read the bible for us and we listened. He loved singing therefore we first of all had a praise and worship session and then he would read from the word of God. Then he would dismiss everyone on the farm to go and sleep. No one and I mean no one would go to bed before prayers.

Now that I know, I hope these Prayers that Moved Mountains Still Move Mountains would be of assistance to those families that wish to have prayers on a daily basis. Just as reference to how these people prayed and how their prayers were answered in the bible. Prayers that Moved Mountains Still Move Mountains is a selection of very powerful prayers that are in the bible. Powerful men of God prayed to God and these prayers were answered in most miraculous ways.

These prayers can be used by anyone in similar situations and God is the same yesterday, today and forever; he will answer you just as he answered those powerful men and women of those days. He does not look at how minor or how major your problem is, if you want it answered God will answer it. He has answered my minor and major prayers.

    1. Jacob’s Prayer

    Then Jacob prayed:

"O God of my father Abraham,

    God of my Father Isaac,

O Lord, who said to me,

‘Go back to your country and your relatives and

    I will make you prosper,

I am unworthy of all the kindness and faithfulness

    You have shown your servant.

I had only my staff when I crossed this Jordan,

But now I have become two groups.

Save me, I pray, from the hand of my brother Esau,

For I am afraid he will come and attack me,

And also the mothers with their children.

But you have said, ‘I will surely make you prosper

And will make your descendants like the sand of the sea,

    Which cannot be counted.’"

    (Genesis 32:9 – 12)

    God Answers Prayers

Prayers that Moved Mountains Still Move Mountains

    What was Jacob praying for?

    • He was praying for freedom and acceptance to be given by his brother Esau.

    • If you know the history of Jacob you will understand how big this mountain was.

    • Here are some major issues that were in Jacob’s life:

    About Jacob:

    • Jacob is the son of Isaac and Rebekah;

    • He was the twin brother of Esau.

    • He bought Esau’s birth right for a pot of stew.

    • Jacob tricked his father into giving him the blessings which were supposed to be given to the older son Esau.

    • Jacob fled from Esau and went to stay with Laban the brother of his mother

    • Jacob had a dream in which he met God and was blessed – Genesis 28:10 – 22 He called the place Bethel which means house of God; though it used to be called Luz.

    • Jacob was tricked by Laban into marrying Leah a week later he married Rachel both Laban’s daughters

    • He worked seven years for each of his wives.

    • Jacob had twelve sons and one daughter

    • He wrestled with God, and his name was changed to Israel. Genesis 32:28 – Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome.

    • He saw God face to face and his life was spared – Genesis 32:30 – So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.

    • The Descendants of his twelve sons became the nation of Israel.

    • He prayed the above prayer when he was going to meet his twin brother Esau.

    Scriptures on Jacob:

    • Genesis Chapters 22 -50

    Lessons to Draw:

    • Perseverance brings results – Genesis 32:26 Then the man said let me go, for it is daybreak. But Jacob replied, I will not let you go unless you bless me.

    • Jacob wanted to marry Rachel but Laban wanted the older daughter to be married first. That is why he gave Leah to Jacob first. The Lesson here is that Jacob had tricked his father into getting the blessings instead of Esau, now here he has also been tricked into marrying Leah instead of Rachel. As a result Jacob had to work again for Rachel. What goes round comes round.

    • God created Adam and Eve. That was the family unit that God wanted us to have. Whenever man has gone out of this family unit situation and had more than one wife there has always been a problem. Read about Abraham, David, and Solomon to mention a few. Although Jacob really wanted to marry Rachel and Leah was imposed on him; he also could have looked at the package he was getting. He had worked for Rachel for seven years, he could have taken time to speak to her and explain to her what she meant to him. Ask her also how she felt about all this long waiting.

Since he did not take the time he got the wrong package instead. Secondly, He could have put his foot down and not had children with his wives servants.

    • We should not be in a hurry to do certain things without first making sure that the materials we are using are the right materials.

    • When praying we should also know what we are praying for; Jacob was sure of what he wanted in this prayer; to be free from his brother and his prayer was answered.

    • From the names of his children we also learn that there was no peace in this place, for example Reuben is associated with the Lord seeing the misery of Leah.

    • There was no love in this place as Simeon refers to God hearing that Leah is not loved.

    • There was no attachment as Levi refers to Jacob being attached to Leah because of the three sons.

    • However there was praise as Judah made Leah realize that the only thing to do was to praise the Lord.

    • There was hope as Dan refers to the Lord vindicating and listening to the plea of Rachel by giving her a son through her maid servant Bilhah.

    • There were struggles between the two sisters who were married to Jacob, Leah and Rachel as Naphtali refers to a great struggle which Rachel though she had won since now her maid servant had two sons.

    • Where a man marries two or more wives there is always bickering as indicated by the names of
