As the sun rises on Munk Chippers rambunctious family breakfast, his oldest son, Freddie sits strangely removed and quiet. Whats on his mind? And why does he dart away, disappearing after the meal? Concerned, Munk decides to follow his son, as does Freddie's mother, each in secret pursuit. Wearing laughable disguises, they set off to solve the big mystery.

Soon the rest of the family, plus an entire town follows, like a parade of hapless, chipmunk sleuths. Into the dangerous forest, would-be detectives scamper after Freddie. But they risk the very jaws of a hungry coyote. Where was Fred off to? Will the secretive young chipmunk lead them all into disaster? What special lessons about love, can young readers learn, in the end?

Young children, especially, will love the colorful and detailed illustrations by the author. Readers of all ages can learn some classic, life lessons while exploring the natural world. Based on a true story, this very humorous story includes a bonus, with its surprise ending. It just may be, a formerly secret and delectable, gluten-free recipe will be revealed.
