trust
i wake to find i am a microchip,
silicon,
a component.
i walk to the edge of my bed;
this long trek takes all of five hours.
reason is a buffalo soldier,
light is a latitudinarian guest,
my anthology is an unfounded thought.
looking down from this elevation,
Babylon,
Crete,
Mount Ida,
seven hills and a wolf calls.
an envelope within time,
a cavern base camp at the foot of an elastic equinox,
there at the foot,
my shoes—
they are also microchips.
they call to me,
‘if you jump we will catch you,
we must all comply.’
closing my eyes,
i jump—
icarus,
meteorites,
a Chinese kite string,
flaccid in an October sky.
halfway down i open my eyes,
I see my shoes walking away.
updraft
updraft,
elevator in corduroy wind,
helium balloon in mid-air,
aeroplane aerofoil,
zeppelin autopilot,
a crest of heralding air
in a ragged flux disregard.
i episode,
my skin tensing,
my tingling skin ebbing.
an updraft beneath my feet,
airborne,
moving but trapped,
flying but never arriving.
a Buddhist monk,
levitating,
Zen.
this butterfly transient experience,
