Ordinary Words - L.M. Kazmierczak
ORDINARY WORDS
There should be no such word as ordinary,
Since it cannot apply to you.
Our vocabulary works inadequately,
When I try describing you.
Words are my life, and I’m at a stand still,
Stuck with mere tools of my voice.
So let’s start from scratch and make up new rules,
So that I have a much better choice.
Ordinary words are weary. Regular vocabulary
Never will do justice to the way I must express myself.
I’ll throw out the dictionary. Build a new vocabulary.
Ordinary word won’t make its way back onto my bookshelf.
Normal dreams just are not ordinary,
‘specially when they include you.
Net my dreams from a dictionary.
In its web only are bits of you.
Every day is not ordinary,
Now that I am around you.
All my days I’ll be searching dictionaries,
As I try describing you.
ASTERISK
An asterisk is a ref’rence mark

That is how I feel when you are near.
Tell me isn’t that absurd?
That a tiny star called an asterisk
Would indicate an absence.
And not a heart with an arrow through
But a star of silence.
*
When I think of you my mind is filled,
Marking footprints to my heart.
My voice is stilled, and I’m forced to use
That tiny asterisk mark.
I hope this makes sense in some way
Because I can’t express
My love for you that has no words,
So I’m left with the asterisk.
BON MOTS AND ALL HAPPY THOUGHTS
Peter Pan has no corner on
thoughts happy as me.
You’re my happy thought lately,
and you know you set me free.
I’m moving the moon and stars to reshape our
