About this ebook

How far would you go to get back what was rightfully yours?

Rayne Rhymes worked hard to earn enough credits to buy her space ship, the Bodicea.

Under Deneb law, all of Rayne's possessions belong to her scoundrel husband, even after their divorce.

Rayne's husband makes her an offer: do him one small favor and he'll return her ship.

This short story, A Small Favor, gives one woman's answer.

Charley Marsh

In her younger days Charley Marsh’s curiosity drove her to climb mountains, canoe rivers, and explore caves and wilderness areas from Maine to California. She's been shot at, caught in a desert flash flood, and almost drowned off the Maine coast. Once she tobogganed down a 5,000+ foot mountain.  Life is always an adventure if you have the right attitude. Charley never set out to be a storyteller, but looking back on the elaborate lies she made up as a troubled teen she can see that she always had the makings. Now, in the immortal words of Lawrence Block, she happily “makes up lies for fun and profit.” If you would like information regarding Charley’s new releases or simply want to contact Charley visit: https://charleymarshbooks.com/

A Small Favor - Charley Marsh

Rayne Rhymes scanned the broad orange plain as she landed the Bodicea. Nothing but desert lay off the ship’s port side. To the starboard lay impenetrable and dangerous jungle. The opposite biomes lived side by side as if precisely separated by an invisible, physical wall.

A pair of towering dust devils, tornadoes of orange sand, spiraled in the distance, twisting together and apart in a fluid yet deadly dance before winking out of existence.

She couldn’t think of a single reason why anyone would want to visit the inhospitable and dangerous planet known as Klamarra—and yet here she was, leaving the safety and comfort of her ship to perform a scoundrel’s errand.

It’s barely out of your way, her almost-ex husband had wheedled a week before.

"All you have to do is give my friend a lift, maybe help him a little. It would mean a lot to me. Besides, you owe me. Under Deneb law I could claim your ship in the uncoupling hearing. I’ll sign the Bodicea over to you free and clear if you do me
