The door locked behind me as I turned to find Cassie with a mischievous look on her face.

Hold it right there mister. I did not relieve you from duty yet, Cassie said in a playfully sultry tone.

I am a sweaty mess after finally cleaning out the basement and I was just trying to shower up and be ready for duty Captain Cassie, I said as I stood at attention.

It was so fucking good to be home. After two tours with my brothers in every godforsaken corner of the world, I was finally done. There was part of me that would forever feel guilty about leaving my fellow SEALS behind but Cassie deserved better.

The life of a SEAL wife was about the hardest job I could imagine. While I went into harms way often with little notice and absolute secrecy, Cassie had to just sit at home and wait for me to return, never quite knowing when that might be.

Despite having the best crew and the most powerful military behind me, every time that I said goodbye to Cassie could have easily been my last. I owed her more than I could ever possibly repay her but I was going to do my damnedest to try.

Since retiring a few weeks ago I had cleaned out the attic, replanted the dying lawn, organized the garage, and finally cleaned out the basement. I did all of this while dutifully fulfilling my spousal duties…nightly!
