About this ebook

Book One may appear to be a little scary to read because it takes you into evil and the destruction of lives. Far too many people won't begin to take a look. What mankind doesn't recognize from afar is that he has been in agreement with many of the lies being perpetuated, through the deceitfulness of evil and his lack a awareness. He managed to get himself in, and now he must fully participate in getting himself out.

The good news is Book Two is providing the help necessary to bring you out. It's giving you the map, and the access to understanding that which will help to set yourself free. You will find you cannot do all of it alone. The life of Jesus Christ is being utilized in Book Two as our ultimate leader, teacher, and guide. You will want to understand the heart, courage and genius which was developed Him from living His life in faith. The attributes of Jesus can and should be studied and duplicated. His teachings are aptly quoted to illustrate various results of life; and provide oppositions of thought to counter the mechanics of evil being levied against us through the minds of the self.

Jesus gave us His teachings, examples and demonstrations over two thousand years ago. Mankind has made progress since then in maintaining his sanity and integrity, but our progress has not proven, to me, to be enough. Look closely at people and their problems and you will see that far too many people are living with way too much pain and fear. And we all hear stories of good religious people who experience a fall as they become subject to sinning. Yes, we are all sinners but much of the sinning we do is because we do not greatly understand! The mechanics of evil and the thousands of approaches Satan has to engage a man, are often overwhelming! I look at our world today and can see the many compulsions at work in the minds of men in mass, and I'm genuinely concerned. Man doesn't begin to understand the size, complexity, and scope of all that he is up against in our world as it is. We've all heard of Satan, and most of us will acknowledge he is there to damage our life, but generally that's as far as our knowledge of him goes. It is our ignorance of him that make us most vulnerable. When we don't recognize the decisions we make are in league with supporting his working mechanics in pain, then we don't have much of a chance. We need to become enlightened in order to be protective of our souls, which is the basis and design of book number three.

Book Two has two agendas which I continue to present throughout. I continue to show the reader the ongoing dilemmas he has to contend with through the cunning and deceit of evil in full cooperation with the six major steps of the longest and greatest lie ever told. Various aspects of the lie are a part of each one of us, and the lies will literally have to be removed. This will take a lot of time and hard work. While you will be steadily at work getting to the truth, I will continue to show the you the things you will need to actively involve yourself in, in order to bring yourself out. There are no easy solutions, and there is little gain to be made without the accommodation of some pain. But the pain will be tolerable and the end will remain as a blessing in your sights! You have the Trinity of God working within you through your deep and deliberate breathing. You have scriptures of truth to be studied at your disposal, and you will have the blessings of your memorized prayer. You have the love, faith and forgiveness of God working within your essence of being. You will be learning to let go and trust in God. The more you learn to love them as the Trinity, the more you will grow in faith. And as Jesus told us, It is from faith, God will make us well.

    Dedication

This book is dedicated to my mother. My mother has always been one of the hardest working people I know and I respect her very much. She was a school teacher for many years and when she sat down to read my first book she called me to say, Because of the mistakes that were missed with the editing, I needed to republish the book. She helped me immensely with reediting of the first book and now she has done much of the same with my second book. I was able to re-write and clear up the ideas that had not been clearly presented. Thanks mom, for a job well done . . . and I love you very much!

    Introduction

When I sat down to write these books I was planning on writing only one book under the title Good vs. Evil . . . Overcoming Degradation through the Love and Brilliance of God. My first draft was only 230, type-written-pages long, which would have worked out to be about 340, book-written-pages. I began doing re-writes of the book to improve the proficiency of my wording, as well as the contents of what I had to say. After a dozen and more re-writes the book grew into well over 600 type-written-pages and it continues to grow as I continue to work on Book Two. I will begin to revise Book Three again with Book Two’s completion and God only knows where it will all end up.

I found it necessary to turn one book into three books due to the size of the subject matter and because of the way in which the contents of the book changed. Book One begins by giving the reader an introduction into the workings of evil in the minds of men and therefore what I give to the reader as sound reasoning for having God in his life. The size and scope of the mechanics of evil in the minds of men is huge, and complex in it’s nature, which is why much of man’s knowledge and understanding of it has remained very limited.

Nobody I’m aware of has put together the whole package of how evil works in the minds of men. Once the reader begins to understands how The Longest and Greatest Lie has made a prisoner of him in so many different ways, he will greatly appreciate the fact that Book Two and Three were written with the sole purpose off helping to bring him out from the resulting quagmire of mud, blood and tears, and set him free.

Book Two has a lot to do with the teachings of Jesus Christ. I’ve studied the life and teachings of Jesus extensively and use His words as a primary source for providing inspiration. The goal of Book Two is to provide the reader with a higher form of understanding their relationship with God, which will begin to free him from the suffering and limitation he has experienced in his life.

Book One, if well read, has enabled the reader to become aware of all that stands against him. If the reader doesn’t have a bond with Jesus when he begins Book Two, he may well have a bond with Him by the time he finishes. The teachings, examples and demonstrations given through the life of Jesus provide the reader with the way and the truth for living the good life. The reader’s insights and understandings will provide the ground-work for him to learn about his imprisonment, and through understanding, work to become free. Anyone who studies the Gospels will grow to honor, love and respect Jesus Christ.

Book Three provides an ongoing conclusion of the work needing to be done and at this point, if you’re still connected, you will forever be on a journey towards a state of attaining higher enlightenment. The goal is to be free with the enlightenment that comes from seeking God in spirit. What stands in your way is your dependency on the false self. Your true self has long been lost through Satan’s lies, manipulations and deceit and now you need a map to find your way back to existing as your spiritual self.

Jesus provides a map through your reflections with the understanding of your soul. The soul has long been damaged but through God’s work in faith through you, your soul can be healed. But it will require you full participation. You cannot be lazy! God is not in favor of feeding a man who will not work. He does not say good things of the foolish man who remains idle throughout his day. You will soon discover your healing will require your persistence of work. You will need to be hard at work in developing the reality of your spirit/yourself to enhance your active relationship within the presence God.

It has been my ongoing relationship with the Trinity of God that has provided for my comfort and joy. Your relationship with your God will become of the utmost in importance. Once you really gets this, you will be convinced of the need to continue onward in the journey, as your life will be on a path which will lead you to becoming forever more complete.

Two of the main ideas I’m presenting in my books are good and evil represent the opposite ends of the spectrum of life, and the results we create from the decisions we make are the same for everyone. Good and evil are at the exact opposite ends from each other but they work from within the same sphere. Each and every day will involve you in situations where you will recognize your need to make choices between the two. The choices you make will in turn, involve you in an outcome, which will weigh heavily in the determination of the future choices that will be made available to you. Each and every choice you make will help determine where you will exist in the immediate future. When you choose well, life will remain generally good, and when you choose poorly, life can eventually become far too difficult and complex.

Most people will go through their days choosing well for 50, 100 or 300 times in a row. And then because of an unresolved personal issue, their 301st choice may become their first bad decision in a month. They may tell a small lie to get what they want. If they need to tell no other lie then life can move on without incident. But if one lie leads to the need to tell another, then the first bad decision can lead to complicated results and to limited options, which can lead to making additional bad choices. It is from our bad decisions we are placed into experiences which can often involve us with some kind of pain and/or loss. It is the pain and fear in life from suffering a loss from which we all hope escape. And when we can’t escape we will sometimes turn to some form of denial.

The working mechanics of good and evil are huge in scope. It was because of the complexity and breadth of the mechanics of evil, and working so perfectly together, that I needed to break down the material into three complete books. Books Two and Three provide a shift in your focus and your direction of work but I never leave the workings of evil completely out of the picture. I believe our potential for choosing evil will forever be persistent in the ways of man. Evil will never give up on finding ways to attack a man through his vulnerabilities of desire which exist in minds of all men. There are hundreds of different ways for us to be attacked through our wants and desires and with the deceit of evil through the working mechanics of Satan, his lies will always be working to manipulate us even more.

We must always remain on watch as Satan will never leave us and he doesn’t rest. We were told how he attempted to manipulate Jesus in the desert after Jesus had just completed a 40 day fast. If Satan is willing to go after Jesus at what appeared to him to be an opportune time, then you can be sure, he is coming after you. Learning exactly how he operates is one of the best ways I know of to avoid him.

I concluded the second edition of Book One after completing 16 re-writes. The completion of Book Two has taken a similar number of re-writes and I am certain Book Three will require nearly the same. Much of the material in my books, which I consider to be original and unique, came from God. I began my writings from my life experiences but the wisdom and understanding that came forth with the writings, eventually came from God. I believe all wisdom originates with God and His wisdom is infinite.

The subject matter I write about is not considered by most people to be lighter reading material. My work is of the Spirit and requires your understanding comes from your spirit. This kind of understanding will take time and persistence. But the book is simply written and can be understood by any who will apply themselves. The information is unique and exciting when understood, and I believe it may well become one of the most important readings to which you will ever apply yourself.

Many of you who decide to buy this book will not have read Book One. Book One is subtitled, Evil . . . and the Destruction of Lives and I can see the title has the potential to drive some people away from wanting to read it. To be perfectly honest with you, Book One is not a scary read. You can read it objectively and it is not with the purpose of creating nightmares in the reader. Book One conveys how, exactly, the mechanics of evil are at work in the minds of men and therefore shows the reader how to avoid becoming trapped by them. I’ve worked hard to write as an easy read but the scope of it is vast and complicated. The information, once fully understood, will put you in a position of retaining your God given powers. You can retain the power of your soul with the improvements you’ll gain from making better decisions!

Retaining the whole truth is not scary thing, once it is completely understood. Book One gives you the opportunity to understand a combination of things of vast importance. The range and complexities of evil, for the most part, have not been completely understood. If the mechanics of evil had been completely understood, mankind would be much better off than he is today. The information I’m providing will now be able to be taught in schools and churches and through seminars. If it had already been done throughout history, your 6:00 o’clock news would be far more sedate in the stories being told. The sanity of man in general would have been raised, or, would not have fallen, to a whole new level.

If mankind was more sane, then the news would be more about providing the viewer with generally interesting information. If mankind was more sane, the news would not be bent on providing the world with the downfall of man in his daily operation. The news would not be plagued with the destruction of lives through man’s participation in his own devastation, leading to his despair. Coming to understand how, exactly, evil is at work in the minds of men is a blessing and a benefit and this knowledge should ideally be sought after by each every one of us.

Allow me to declare that reading Book One, first, is not essential. If you prefer to take on a lighter, spiritual position provided in Book Two, as a gradient introduction, I completely understand, and even encourage it. Looking closely at what the teachings of Jesus have to say and what the love of God can do for you is far more uplifting than looking at the mechanics of evil at work in your life. I would agree with the reader who would want to read this book first. You can read Book Two without having read Book One and you will still get a lot of good from it. After you’ve thoroughly read Book Two, you will definitely see the need to go back and read Book One to compete your understanding.

Understanding Book One will provide you with your particular needs for doing the work contained in the second and third books. Book One will provide you with the clarity of the trappings we have all been caught up with in simply living our life. Until you fully understand the magnitude of your imprisonment from believing in the lies, you won’t fully appreciate the freedom being offered through the second and third books.

The order in which you learn the material is not all that important as there is so much to learn and no particular order in which you must learn it. I advise my readers to read my books two or three times and more because there is so much about you to sort through and absorb. The order in which you begin to digest this information is not as crucial as in taking the time to truly understand it. Thus, you can begin where ever you please.

I do strongly advise you go back and read Book One after you become familiar with Book Two. I advise this because my perception is Satan will never cease in his attempts to hurt you. We’ve all heard a story of a leader amongst us, someone whom we considered to one of our best, having been led astray from keeping with his good decisions and taking a fall. Sexual affairs and the lust for money are two of the more familiar stories for our failures. This can and will happen because of the lies we have all subscribed to, unknowingly that is, and for our entire lives. This is where Book One becomes important.

We are all vulnerable because of the lies we subscribe to that have affected our choices somewhat, and for many years. Many of you may feel you have been fighting some kind of uphill battle and for oh so long, and you don’t know how to stop. If we don’t come to understand the many lies and how they’ve been affecting our viewpoints through our anger and compulsions and various forms of denial, then we shall continue to remain vulnerable to making bad decisions. In knowing the whole truth about ourselves, we become free to do the right thing . . . as was told to us by Jesus.

We truly are a slave to our sins . . . as we have nearly always been. It doesn’t have to be that way but unless we get to a point of being able to see the lies at work in us, we will remain a slave to the lies. If you remember, Jesus did not come to call on the healthy but on the sick, which includes the vast majority of us in various stages. When Jesus was asked, Why does your Teacher eat with the tax collectors and sinners? He replied, Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. It is over 2000 years later and far too many of us are still sinners, and mostly because of our ignorance.

I do not know where those who are righteous exist today because the way I see it they are far and few in number. The vast majority of us have at least some degree of sin that can return to be at work in us. We continue to sin because we’ve never completely understood the working mechanics of evil from it’s lies and deceit which have long, lured us in. We’ve had the teachings, examples and demonstrations given to us by Jesus and this has been a big help to many. I consider His offerings to be some of the best of what we have had to study. We’ve also had the advantage of being led by God through His stories, songs, psalms, prophets and commandments. But our sinning has continued and I fear the density of sin amongst mankind may be getting more evenly spread out throughout the masses.

Yes, there are really good people who exist in our world today but far too many of the good people don’t have a large following of students. Good people are often being dismissed today by the numbers of people who think they should be in control and who actually have their own issues. Far too many of us give our attentions to people who being angry, and get off on saying saying outrageous things. Being angry and frustrated themselves, they like hearing their anger being expressed. The number and types of people who are competing for recognition and control is staggering. And far too often, the people who gain the control are only interested in gaining more influence. Nobody wants to give up their power.

And there are waves of disobedience and chaos coming from people who claim to be godly. Jesus told us to love one another and not judge, but some of the so-called godly are amongst the worst in making judgments. How are we going to get to the truths about ourselves with so much turmoil and opposition coming from within us? Many of us are being overwhelmed today with our compulsions to be top-dog and in control. What each of us needs to do, as individuals, is recognize our compulsions as flaws and go to work on that which we can see about ourselves that follows from our experience.

This work is about the repentance of your sins. The sins you can readily see and understand are the easy ones from which to repent. The sins you can’t see or understand are the more difficult sins to get to and will take a lot more work on your part. If you can’t see the sin then you can’t repent of it. Jesus shows us the way towards repentance through His teachings and your job is to become more responsible for your decisions and actions by becoming much more truthful and aware.

There are no guarantees with the paths we are taking to heaven; and in spite of what you may have heard, this lack in guarantee is a possibility for one and all. Making a public proclamation of faith to the name of Jesus Christ is good, and it indicates a certain degree of understanding, but it provides no guarantees. If we are choosing to live in ignorance and degradation then Jesus may well say to us, I never knew you; depart from me, you who practice lawlessness. Too many people believe that because they are a Christian, they don’t have to remain fully aware in order to be responsible for themselves.

We do have to remain responsible for our soul and there are many warnings given to us by Jesus about those who will not enter the kingdom of heaven (read Mathew, Chapter 7, verses 21-27). And then Jesus devotes a whole chapter to giving examples and demonstrations of those who will be excluded from entering the kingdom of heaven (Mathew, Chapter 25). If you read the Gospels and remain honest and open you will see there are no guarantees for your entry to heaven.

What is required of us for the personal safety of our eternal future is a lot of hard work that comes with our faith. We must learn to be in the present moment with God, full time, in order to have His word be fulfilled in us. Jesus said, For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother. This statement is made from the Spirit and our understanding requires our spirit. We must remain obedient in ourselves in spirit as we attempt to fulfill the word of God. The word is that we be perfect unto ourselves as we learn to wait on the Lord with the expectation of His arrival. We probably won’t be perfect but we have to at least be trying! I choose to believe God will look favorable on those who are working at being their godly best, which requires their very best efforts.

What we are being called to do is to be in a full-time relationship of obedience with God. Book Two is about the beginning stages of that relationship. It is sub-titled, Seeking to Duplicate the Heart, Courage, and Genius of the Lord Jesus Christ. What we ought to be seeking is the heart of Jesus which is represented by His love. If you’ve read Jesus, you’ve read about His love being constantly challenged. He was able to hold steady, and under the most dire of circumstances. In Spirit, He could respond with a demonstration of love that came from the heart. He advocated we learn to adhere to the same kind of love from within ourselves.

Jesus was truly able to serve as a reflection of God’s love from Spirit, which gave Him an enormous internal strength. He tells us of our need to be like Him with the administration of our love. And He warned us about our compulsions to be and have more with the idea . . . Those who will be last will be first, and those who will be first will be last.

If you’ve read the entire story of Jesus you will have discovered just how courageous Jesus truly was. Jesus was easily able to face the hard challenges that were put before Him, everyday. He did not shy away from the quarrelsome questions targeted at Him by the scribes and the Pharisees in order to trap Him. He did not choose to look away and do nothing about the money changers who were operating for profits in the temple. He did not turn His back on the hundreds of people who came to Him, begging for help. He courageously faced up to the challenges that were put before Him, big and small. And then He faced the ultimate challenge when He allowed others to put Him through a torturous death, so you and I could remember Him and have an abundant life.

Anyone who has read Jesus will readily admit He was a man who was truly courageous. It behooves us to seek His courage and we ought to be seeking His genius as well. Jesus had a marvelous presence and response with everyone who spoke to Him. He came as a teacher and a healer, and to spread the message of the kingdom of God. He rightfully proclaimed to be the Son of God and yet He was given as the gift to the people on planet earth.

If you read the gospels you can see Jesus was an enlightened human being. Yet He was able to live His life as if He were the lowliest of the poor. His life was about making sacrifices! He gathered no wealth, no home, and no comforts and yet He gave to all who asked of Him. He chose to have less and be less in stature than the people who came to Him. He was able to choose to be less but He couldn’t deny being recognized as the genius that was in Him. And I ask you, Where do you think His genius came from? Was it simply because He was the Son of God? I believe He was God’s Son but I also believe He had to learn about all that He was in regard the things of this world, just as do we. His genius was in place but it had to be developed. And from His teachings, examples and demonstrations we can learn and develop as well.

I believe the genius of the man we know as Jesus Christ was able to grow in Him perpetually because of His ongoing, relationship with the Father. He never turned away from God. We don’t have the advantage of being the firstborn sons of God, as was Jesus, but we can be in an active, ongoing relationship with the Trinity of God and be greatly inspired by that relationship. I have stated, All wisdom originates with God. The more time a person spends with God, the greater his potential for acquiring His additional wisdom.

My wife began to read the Bible daily and to follow up with a little prayer work and it wasn’t long before she began to discover what I call, good ideas. The good ideas we discover are little pieces of wisdom that come from God. Whatever genius we may acquire will come by way of the Spirit, as has all forms of knowledge originating from genius. I will present that all brilliant ideas which have been discovered before us were discover by man through the brilliance of God’s Spirit. God exists within us and tapping into His Spirit is the best that we can be.

Yes, Jesus was enlightened and divine, and No, we (we, being 99. 9999999999% of us) are not. We were born of God’s Spirit but we got greatly ensnarled along the way with our false perceptions of our own importance. We have become confined to the inner limits of our mind as if we were our body, mind and ego. We got hung up in improving the limitations of the false self, a deceitful trapping, and we’ve forgotten whom and what we really are. We’ve all too often got sidetracked by our selfish desires, and our need for self importance. We’ve become somewhat alienated as we can’t help but repeat the compulsions that come from for our self-centeredness. Far too many of us have stopped looking to God for our salvation and delight, and we have suffered for it greatly.

It is time for us to wake up from our many illusions, delusions and denial and return to preeminently loving God with all our hearts. There is no greater place we can be! He is the giver of all life and by loving Him we can come to know and love ourselves. And our worlds can begin to go round ever so smoothly through His love, peace and joy.

The Trinity of God has become the all of importance in my life and this is GOOD! Your job, as I see it, is to get to the point where you want Them (the Trinity of God; or your God) to become the all in your life. Being in a minute by minute relationship with God may seem radical and unrealistic but it only starts out that way. What’s important in your relationship with God is in the degree you have with your desire for being there. If you can get to the place where you can see the benefits of being one with God in Spirit, then you will be more available for doing the work. From my experience, you will soon want to develop in your capacity for having a totally dependent relationship with Him. This is about the losing the self and in time you will have long discovered there is no greater place you can be.

There is no greater love! There is no greater wisdom! And there is no safer place you can be than to be in the center of a joyful and peaceful God. And this kind of relationship can be accomplished in you with the typical living that goes on in your life. Life’s disappointments and disadvantages can be turned around to feel different in you. With the right state of mind, they can become the material that will provide feelings in you of having an advantage and experiencing joy.

You are in fact everything you need to be right here; right now . . . but you don’t know this yet. You are a child of God who was born of His Spirit. You can be centered in His love and become the effect of His mercy and grace. But the really hard part is getting you to fully realize this. In not fully knowing Him, you have not been in an ongoing, working relationship with Him. You have not knowingly been within the protection of His all consuming love. And in not depending on Him, you have most likely prided yourself on being independent and mostly on your own.

If you have seen yourself as being independent and on your own in the world, then you’ve probably not had time for developing serious allies. Having allies would require your trust and your trust would require your time. You’ve probably been much too busy being super competitive; in order to win; and may well not have had the time or desire to learn to trust in someone other than yourself. There will have been times, I’m sure, when you would have needed to face up with what appeared to be impossible odds. And yet somehow you managed to struggle through it, as if you were all by yourself.

So how is your being total independent working out for you . . . or, do you think there might be room for improvement? If you could somehow have your life transformed into whatever you wanted, What would you need to believe in to make it happen; and what would you like to have happen? Would you like to be able to trust in letting go, and keeping it simply; and still be able to get what you need? Or maybe you would like to have the faith of Mother Teresa . . . , i.e., have the advantage of living your life in strength and with a continuous, inner peace? The thing we all need to realize is that everything good has its best possibility of existing within us when we’re one in Spirit with God! He is the creator of every living universe and all of life is sustained through His blessings and His love.

Love Him first and foremost and the things of real importance you desire and need will become more readily available to you. I can say from my experience, there is nothing more comforting and secure than being in a loving and open relationship with the Trinity of God. But in order for you to remain open to God you are going to have to open your eyes until you can fully see. And then you will need to open your ears until you can fully hear. God will be with you, as He always has been, but you are going to have to be able to look until you can realize, and hear until you can understand, the knowledge of His presence existing from within you.

Book Two was written to help you become removed from the lies you were never aware of, but in which you have always believed. This will happen as you begin to see the advantages of learning to depend on God. This book was designed to show you the safety net being provided through an obedient relationship with the fullness of His Spirit. To personally know God, as the Trinity of love in your life, will open doors for you to the things that were hidden and never understood.

To become one with His Spirit through your spirit will provide you with understandings you’ve never reached before. His Spirit will provide you, at times, with what I refer to as godly intuitions. There will be things you will fully come to know that can only come from God. This is about you being lifted up from all forms of degradations and despair. This is about you coming to know and understand from the knowledge of the many lies, to which we have all been subjected. My hope is you will choose to be with God and do the work required to become as free with your soul as you were originally meant to be.

    To The Reader!

This is not a fast reading book. This is a book you will want to read in shorter durations. Then, hopefully, you will find the time to think about the ideas presented in the writings and how they relate to you. This book is really all about you.

This is not a book that will be beneficial for everyone! Some of you will find you just don’t have the interest. For those of you who do find this material interesting, let’s discuss how you might go about taking it all in.

There are books I’ve read that proved to be such good reading material, and because they were so insightful; they were worth reading two or three times, and even more. These kinds of readings become more of a study than a reading for pleasure. With this kind of material I want to understand all that the author has to say and then I want to remember as much as I can by making it my own. As a rule, one reading of this type of book will not give you the depth of the material being presented and will not allow you to remember very much.

Once you are sure you are interested in the subject matter provided let me suggest how you might go about reading this book. Begin by reading through the book the first time to simply acquire an awareness of the content of ideas that are being presented. Read through in shorter durations in order to stop and contemplate the ideas being presented. You want to come to as full an understanding of the material as possible and this will generally take place over numerous readings.

Read through a second time and begin to think about the content being presented as it applies to who you think you are and how you perceive you live your life. Think about yourself in relation to how the material being presented applies to the things you have always believed in. Imagine that I’m talking to you directly and we are examining every aspect of whom, what and how you conceive of yourself as being.

Take the time to stop and reflect on the reading after you reach the completion of each idea being presented. You will recognize when the end of a fully completed idea has arrived as the next idea to be discussed will begin with darker letters that will continue through the next fully printed sentence. The beginning of each new idea will begin with a wholly darkened sentence or two as opposed to a partially darkened single sentence. A partially darkened sentence denotes a change in direction but with the same original idea that began with the last fully darkened sentence.

Read through the first time to simply understand the ideas as best you can. All of the ideas being presented are connected, one to another, and your job is to see how they all fit in and work together. The more you come to understand, the more you will be free. You won’t begin to accomplish much until you’ve come to fully understand the contents of the ideas and how they apply to you.

You will want to read through a second time but this time you will want to bracket sentences and paragraphs that you find particularly important. The things you will find important are the things that apply to who you think you are. You may want to begin writing journal after reflecting upon yourself from the ideas being presented. Take your time in this work but try to do at least a little bit of reading every day. Don’t be surprised if your mind should begin to give you reasons to quit at every step along the way. But then if your mind should behave this way, pay no attention to it, as it is not really you.

After your second reading and markings are complete you can go back through the book a third and forth time and simply review your markings. It’s a great way to quickly go back and restudy the contents in order to put to memory the important ideas conveyed that apply to you. It is these ideas, in particular, that are worthy of being known and understood by you.

This book should be considered more of a study manual in regards to knowing the truth about who you think you are. Your capacity for understanding, and then changing the things you deem appropriate, will go up significantly with each reading. Your goal is to apply this material to your everyday life, and you will begin to change for the better. But then we are talking about metabolical changes here for both the body and the mind and changes in our structures are never easy.

I wish you well in your work and pray you will come to know the full measure of power that comes from experiencing the love of God in your life. May this work become His gift to you as you work to become a reflection of His love. From my perspective, there is no greater objective we can hope for.

    CHAPTER 1:

    Love is the Key to

    the Universe

Twenty years ago or there about I read a book called Love is the Key to the Universe and I was amazed by its contents. I could see the truth with the principles that described love as the key for unlocking the limitations we’ve suffered from not dealing the whole truth about ourselves. And I could see the numerous benefits to be gained as a result of acquiring a key that could provide us with so much more. I could see the truth and the benefits to be gained from being in love but I also recognized my limitations in my capacity to give and receive from love. I discovered the quality of the love that existed in me was laden with conditions, and I knew in that moment I had a problem with the area of love in my life.

The only love I was able to muster forth in the course of my life had always been reserved for the woman I loved and then with smaller increments for my immediate family members. And at that moment I wasn’t sure about the love I felt as really being love or some kind of ideology. I could see my ability to be at love, as it was being described in the book I was reading, was flawed in me. Unfortunately, I did not get the best in education and experience when it came to the giving and receiving from love. My education tended to lean more towards the giving and receiving from pain and fear along with the need to be in control.

For me, the love I held for the woman in my life had more to do with our getting along, and was tied more to the quality of the sexual relations we were experiencing; and these varied on a day by day basis. If we were in a good space and were having great sex then I thought of myself as being greatly in love. On the other hand, if we were not in a good space and were having little or quickie sex, then I would sometimes wonder if I really loved her at all. In the first years of my marriage I unwittingly thought of love and sex as being one and the same.

Even after I attended classes which taught us love and sex were not the same, my attitudes and behavior that would result from them didn’t change. I needed to have sex to feel loved and my compulsion to fantasy about other woman would become more active in me during those times of sexual absence. For me, love, sex and getting along continued to go hand and hand and were dependent, one upon the other, in order for me to experience those so called feelings of love.

Openly loving our children was not easy for me either. I loved my children but not from the fullness of capacity my wife had to give. My dad was not able to openly love me as a child with hugs and admiration and the only physical affection I was able to feel came through a form of hands-on boxing when I was small. He also did not choose to engage with me in meaningful conversation until I was 19 years old, so I didn’t grow up feeling loved through words that might have inspired me. And to make matters even bleaker, there were no endearments from my dad, as he had received no endearments from his dad while he was growing up.

My dad was not generous when it came to giving compliments or encouragement to his children. He was somewhat self-centered and partially burdened with his deeper emotions of vulnerability. He kept many of his emotions buried deeply within him. He did not openly and outwardly love his children and did not appear to be overly bothered or informed about his responsibility in supporting their internal needs. He spent much of his time with his mind being absorbed by a book. He could escape through his reading.

My dad was an extremely competitive person. He was not considered an angry or mean spirited man by his family and friends but was witnessed by his children as quickly turning sour in his demonstrations when things didn’t go his way. Losing at any game he played would send him into bouts of shouting, making accusations, and carrying on (usually in what was meant to be good humor). He had a compulsion to compete and win and this compulsion would always stand in the way of his have a loving and fulfilling relationship with me. I didn’t fully recognize this until the end of his life and it took me about three years after his death before I could let go of the resentments I held towards him in order to truly forgive him for what he was incapable of giving me.

My mother was the one to openly demonstrate love in our household. If there was any love that was going to be expressed it would come from my mom. She would sometimes show me affection by applying gentle caresses to my forehead or by messaging my back. My mom was at her best in showing her children love when it came to taking care of us. I remember my mom taking tremendously good care of me when I had a severe case of mononucleosis at seventeen years of age. She changed my soaked bedding twice a day; bathed me from a pan with a wash cloth twice a day; and brought three meals to my bed side for ten days in a row.

For 10 days I was too sick to wake up and do anything except eat (it was amazing to me that as sick as I was I never lost my appetite). And not once did I ever hear a word of complaint from her. Her constant care for me was about her giving from hands of love. She made a sacrifice to me by giving a commitment of her time and I will always remember her attentions favorably. I felt her actions in those circumstances, clearly demonstrated her love for me.

My mom was as hard a working a person as you will ever find and she was driven to feed her family, clothe us, clean for us, and then would help to provide for our other necessities as well. My mom helped to provide for the family through the income she brought home from having launched a teaching career. She worked during the day and went to school at nights and I’ve always admired my mom for her tenacious capacity for working far beyond the norm.

I was better at showing my children love than my father with me, but unfortunately, my idea of showing love to my children had more to do with teaching them something. I needed to be teaching them something in order to be showing them love and rationalized my compulsion to teach with the idea that I wanted them to have a better life than my own. I would attempt to teach them all the little things having to do with their making better choices through logic and common sense. I rationalized that once these things were learned; they would make a difference in making their life easier.

So I was inclined to push my children and prod them along with help, but I was not good at simply being there with them and loving them. Helping them with my ideas of knowledge was my idea of loving them and I assumed the day would come when I would be loved and appreciated as well as respected and admired (several of my attachments).

Since my father didn’t communicate with me as a child, I had to learn some things the hard way. I over-compensated from his lack of communications by over communicating my ideas with my children. My hope was I could save them from having to go through some of the pains in life that I had gone through. I couldn’t help but notice the boys often had a hard time wanting to listen and I didn’t really understand why at the time. The closest I could come to simply loving them with hands on affection and adoration was by wrestling and rough housing with them when they were younger.

I now know from experience that one’s internal compulsions do not interact well with others and I was not greatly appreciated by my children at the time. Forcing your ideas on another as a compulsion to be in control is simply not going to be appreciated! Since I was a step-father it was easy to alienate their bonds of affection and trust. I recognized my mistake when they were in their early teens and I was able to back off. What I ended up doing for the most part was become adept at getting along and going along, while keeping the peace. I do believe they were able to respect me for the balance in discipline I was able to bring to our home.

It was lucky for all of us that in the role of the father, I was able to learn almost immediately that children do not have to be spanked in order to go along with what is expected of them. Because of that awareness, neither one of my children were made to suffer from the physical abuses they would have experienced if I had remained in the role modeling of my parents. My younger son received a second spanking, which I decided was one too many and then neither one of them was ever spanked by me again. And you can be sure I thank God for the awareness I was given with the raising of our children.

I recently learned something from looking back on my days of being a child. I was reviewing the past, in order to write about it and recognized every time I got knocked down with a spanking as a child, I
