The Star Patrol - BENJAMIN W. SCHENK

    CHAPTER 1

On the reddish-colored planet of Bazborn in the Orion Galaxy, in a huge castle; a large, 6'4, dark-haired, 37-year-old man is walking down a long corridor with a slim, 5'7, blonde-haired, 36-year-old man. The blonde-haired man is dressed in a white cloak, and the dark-haired man is dressed in a completely black outfit with a long flowing black cape behind him. A large sword is on a belt around his waist.

How far away are the Snaketars and the Empire? Derain Meandealra, the blonde-haired man, asks. Will we have time to move the ones that need to be moved?

We’ll make time. Can you determine which ones have a chance of coming out of their sleep? Asks Sir Beshnen Skeenin. Any that have a chance of survival, I want to take with us. If they are dead or have no chance of living, we’ll have to leave them behind.

I can make a determination of who is still alive, and who we can save. Derain replies. I checked on them less than a week ago. Some of them are beyond medical help. They will never awaken, and I am sure that they would rather we just took them off of their life-support systems.

A 5'8", dark-haired Reehari Seehisa joins the two, along with the fairly petite, brown-haired 27-year-old Taccney Meandealra. Derain sadly turns to his younger sister.

Taccney, are you sure you want to be here? Derain asks. What Beshnen, Reehari and I are going to have to do is very unpleasant.

Lycy and Riccer are in there, as well as my son. Taccney replies. I think I need to be here. What about the others with relatives inside? Shouldn’t they be here, too?

I’ve already talked to the adults out of them. The kids are mostly too young to understand. I know I do not want my daughters in here, and they mostly said that they didn’t want to see their mothers like this. Sir Beshnen replies. Most of them understand what has to be done, but they don’t need to see it. The originals of the Star Patrol know that the Empire is preparing to break the armistice, and that we need to get off of this world. There is no way we can fight the Empire, Snaketars and Fishtars with the small number of fighters that we have now. We can’t go against them until the kids are grown. Truth be known, most of them would rather the ones that aren’t going to make it see Bazborn as their final resting place than the MV or another world.

I guess I agree with that. Taccney replies, choking back tears. If Riccer, Lycy or Rain are going to die; I would want their final resting place to be Bazborn. Should I get Rearna or Bebhay? Their sons and their husbands are in there? What about Treetet? Her sisters and brother are in there.

I’ve talked to them. Sir Beshnen replies. They don’t want to be here if we have to unhook them. Rearna broke down in tears just thinking about it.

The blondish-brown-haired, fairly small, 33-year-old Bebhay Hardry hurries up to them. They turn to the beautiful woman, as she looks at the room that they are about to enter.

Randra and Rearna wanted me to come here, and take care of our family business. Bebhay replies, her voice sad. Rearna is on the ship, getting the computers online, and Randra is making sure the engines of the MV are in good shape. Rearna said that if her sons and husband were dead, that she would rather remember them the way they were. Like all of us, we trust you and Derain to make the right decisions.

Bebhay, your family members were some of the worst hit by the Kidonian Virus. You know that there is not a good chance that they are savable. Derain sadly says.

I understand. Bebhay replies, choking back tears. Besides, none of the Star Patrol was unscathed by the virus. Beshnen has already lost two wives to the virus, as well as six sons and three daughters. Caincevof and Tertakiekeer have been dead for more than a year. Lycy, Cinyric and Nynac are in the tubes, and we all know what happened to…

Bebhay stops as all of them turn towards her. She lowers her head.

I know that I can’t say her name, in case she or some of the others are near. It is just confusing. We’ve all lost a lot. Bebhay replies.

A man’s voice comes over a speaker, calling for Sir Beshnen. The large Sir Beshnen answers the call.

Buhiu and Jetirier just got back in one of the shuttles. They were doing a reconnaissance flight to see if the Empire was close. We need to hurry! There are hundreds of their ships and Snaketar ships in orbit above Bazborn, and they said some of them were starting to enter Bazborn’s atmosphere. Roosh reports. Beshnen, my sons are already on the MV. We need to get your daughters and Reehari’s family aboard, as well as the other children of the Star Patrol.

Get my cousins to come to the medical area! Sir Beshnen demands. Derain and some of the others are with me. We’re going to find out who we need to take aboard the ship, out of the ‘sleepers’. And get Disise and Rearna to help with some of the kids! I told my daughters to start packing, but most of them are still very young.

Beshnen, your oldest child is only 9?! Says a woman’s voice. They are all very young! They are only going to be able to do so much by themselves. I can help with a few of them.

Kimimmi, have Disise help Karikari and the twins! Sir Beshnen demands. Assign Rearna to mine and Tertakiekeer’s daughters.

Beshnen, this is Princess Jitjil! Says a female voice. I can help Hera and the other daughters of you and Nynac.

What about your daughters? Asks Sir Beshnen.

They are already on the ship and in my quarters. I’ll get somebody to help Britty and Dani. Jitjil replies. If you want, I will get Treetet to check on Krysala and Lara.

You, Kimimmi, Disise and Rearna sort it out among you. Sir Beshnen says. We’re starting to run out of time, and we need to get everything going, as fast as possible!

We’re on it. Treetet’s voice says over the intercom. Derain, are my brother and sisters going to make it?

Do you need to be here? Sir Beshnen sympathetically asks.

No. Treetet sadly replies. I trust you and Derain to do the right thing. All I can do is pray that they will be okay.

The intercom goes silent. Sir Beshnen and Derain open a large, very thick wooden door. Inside the room; glass, casket-shaped cylinders are spread throughout the room against the four walls. Hoses and electrical wires are attached to each of the casket-like enclosures.

Sir Beshnen walks over to where a cylinder with a beautiful blonde woman is. He glances back at Derain, as Derain checks the digital read-outs on the foot of the cylinder. He smiles back at Sir Beshnen.

Her signs are good. Derain replies. At least, to the point that shows she has life-signs without the medical hook-ups. We can definitely take her aboard.

A large, muscular red-haired man walks into the room. Sir Beshnen motions towards the cylinder.

You can load Nynac’s cylinder. Derain said she is still alive and that her signs are good. Sir Beshnen replies.

The large Densin detaches the hoses and wires, and starts pushing the cylinder out of the room. He glances back, sadly, at where Sir Beshnen and Taccney are standing over another of the cylinders. Derain sadly shakes his head ‘no’. Taccney starts crying and walks into Sir Beshnen’s arms.

I’m sorry, Beshnen, but Lycy is gone. Derain replies, choking back sobs. Our sister, and your wife, didn’t make it.

What about Riccer? Taccney asks, tears coming from her eyes, as Beshnen hugs her.

I checked him, earlier, Taccney. He’s gone, too. Derain replies.

You want me to tell Cheslea and Tea? Asks Taccney. They are yours and Lycy’s daughters.

No. Sir Beshnen sadly replies. They know that their mother was dying or close to dying. I don’t want to tell them until we get into space. Leaving the only home that they have ever known is going to be hard enough on them. They are just 7 and 5, respectively. All of the kids are young. I’ll find the right time to let them know what has happened.

Taccney, you really need to see about Autumn and Misty! Derain says, as he walks over to a cylinder with a young boy in it.

Not until I know about Rain! Taccney says. Not until I know about my son!

Derain checks the cylinder, as the stocky Rycek walks into the area. He turns to Rycek, smiling.

He can be moved! Derain says. Take him to the ship, and make sure my sister gets to her daughters!

    On it. Rycek says.

Rycek starts pushing the cylinder with Taccney following. Derain turns to Sir Beshnen, as Sir Beshnen starts towards one of the cylinders.

She’s gone, Beshnen. Derain replies. Cinyric is beyond help. I know the sorcerers tried the spell on Tertakiekeer after they did it to…

Stop right where you are! Sir Beshnen interrupts. There could be ears about! I do not want the wrong people hearing about the spell we put on her! Some of the adults are having a hard time with what happened with her. The kids are going to be scared and confused enough, as it is, and they don’t need that on top of everything else. Now, we need to find out about the rest and we need to hurry it up! The Empire is be getting close!

An explosion goes off outside of the castle! Sir Beshnen and Derain quickly turn in the direction of the explosion! Rycek, Densin and the tall slim Tyno hurry back into the room.

Go, Beshnen! Lead the forces! We’ll help Derain! Rycek says.

Sir Beshnen hurries from the room. Derain and the three brothers check on the rest of the cylinders.

In one of the many rooms of the huge castle, the very beautiful, petite, 28-year-old Disise Boost is helping three young girls get their clothes and things together. An explosion suddenly rocks the castle, sending the tiny, brownish-blonde-haired Karikari falling into Disise. Disise quickly steadies the tiny 7-year-old girl. The tiny girl looks back at her, tears starting to form in her bluish eyes.

Just hurry it up, sweetie! Disise says, glancing back in the direction of the explosion. We need to get out of here as fast as we can!

Karikari, crying softly, starts stuffing some shirts into a canvas bag. She glances over at where two taller, 8-year-old brown-haired girls are packing their things. The taller Cherly, her brown hair in a pony-tail, puts her arm around Karikari.

Don’t worry, Kari, daddy won’t let anything happen to us. Cherly says, trying to soothe her.

Disise glances back at the open door to the room. She suddenly hurries towards the door, trying to push it shut! A large creature, half-snake/half-human, violently pushes the door open, sending the petite Disise back away from the door. Disise is about to react when more of the Snaketars barge into the room. She nervously raises her hands, as she glances back at the three younger girls.

What do you want? Disise nervously asks.

You, Miss Boost! Says a man’s voice, as a large, 6'3", grey-bearded, heavy set man follows the Snaketars into the room.

    Who are you? Disise asks.

Doctarus, son of Ahpla. The man says. My father died in the last battle with your Star Patrol. I should kill you for it, but I would rather you suffer on the slave market. Snaketars, kill the three kids!

No! Disise quickly says, getting between the three scared girls and the Snaketars. They are very important! They are even more important than I am!

What makes the children so important? Doctarus asks.

They are the daughters of Sir Beshnen Skeenin! Disise declares, hugging Karikari.

Then we will take them, too. Doctarus says. Snaketars, tie all four of them up!

Disise protectively stands in front of the girls, glaring at Doctarus and the Snaketars. Karikari starts crying in Cherly’s arms.

Don’t you put your filthy hands on them! Disise cries out.

They either get tied up or they die! Doctarus threatens. What is it going to be?

Give me the rope. Disise angrily says. I’ll do it. You might hurt them.

One of the greenish-grey-skinned Snaketars hands Disise a handful of rope. Disise turns to the three young girls. She sympathetically looks at the tiny Karikari.

Honey, put your hands behind your back. Demands Disise. I have to tie you up.

Karikari, crying, turns her back to Disise and puts her hands behind her. Cherly, standing defiant, with her arms crossed over her chest, glaring at the Snaketars. Disise walks over to her. She reaches for Cherly’s arms, and Cherly pulls away from her. Macy lets out a terrified gasp, as she looks past them at the Snaketars and Doctarus. Disise glances back to find two of the Snaketars aiming their laser-weapons at Cherly. Disise quickly and excitedly turns to Cherly.

Cherly, if you do not let me tie you up, they are going to kill you! Disise warns. Now, turn your ass around and put your hands behind your back! I’ll be danged if I am letting you die today! Do it, now!

Cherly lowers her head and turns her back to Disise. She reluctantly puts her hands behind her back and Disise starts tying them there. Cherly glances over at where Karikari is crying beside of them.

It’ll be okay, Kari. Cherly sympathetically says. Daddy will save us.

Your daddy is going to be very busy with the rest of my forces. Doctarus laughs, as he watches Disise tie up Macy. You’re next, Disise Boost! Get over here!

Disise nods her head. She puts her hands behind her back, and looks down at the three helpless girls. Doctarus starts tying up the petite woman. He leans down to the much shorter woman and whispers in her ears.

If you fight me, I will kill one of the three little girls. Doctarus warns. Their lives are in your hands.

Disise nods her head. Before she can say anything back, Doctarus pulls a cloth gag into her mouth. He turns to the rest of his Snaketars.

Gag the little girls and let’s get out of here! Doctarus demands. These four will be the first of the Star Patrol to fall to the new Empire!

A petite, one-armed, blonde-haired woman suddenly appears out of nowhere, just as one of the Snaketars gags Karikari! She put her attached left arm around Disise’s slim waist and vanishes with her! Doctarus angrily points at the three little girls!

Kill them! Demands Doctarus. I warned Disise what would happen!

The tall, slim, dark-haired Sorcerer Riccralerac appears with Sir Beshnen and Reehari between the three girls, Doctarus and the Snaketars! Sir Beshnen slays the Snaketar near Karikari, with his large sword. Sir Beshnen raises his large shield, as the Snaketars open fire with their lasers! The shield magically expands until it is larger in circumference than the three men and three girls combined, and completely shielding them!

Kill them! Demands Doctarus. I know that there are others in the castle that I can take! I will take at least one of the females of this great army, be it an adult or a child!

Doctarus leaves the room, as the five Snaketars continue firing their lasers at the shield. Sir Beshnen glances down at his three small daughters, as they watch, in horror. Reehari quickly unties the three girls’ hands.

Girls, I want you to get under your beds! Sir Beshnen demands. Riccralerac can shield you with his sorcery. Reehari and I have work to do.

Daddy, what are you… ? Karikari starts, as Sir Beshnen puts his hand over her mouth.

Get under the bed and close your eyes! Sir Beshnen demands. You do not want to see what we are going to do.

The three girls hurriedly crawl under the bed. Sir Beshnen glances over at Sorcerer Riccralerac. Riccralerac raises his arms and a glowing orb surrounds him, the bed and the three girls!

Sir Beshnen lowers his shield, and he and Reehari charge into the five Snaketars! Cherly opens her eyes, and watches, in terror; as Reehari slams two razor-sharp screwdrivers into the throat of one of the Snaketars! Sir Beshnen swings his sword and decapitates a second one! Cherly quickly closes her eyes, as the greenish Snaketar blood covers the floor near the bed. Sir Beshnen turns and slams his shield into the face of a third one, stunning it! Sir Beshnen grabs a large knife from his belt and slams it into the chest of the stunned Snaketar! He turns and swings his shield, cutting through a fourth Snaketar’s chest. The fifth Snaketar tries to flee from the room! Reehari grabs the large nail-gun strapped around his shoulders and opens fire, hitting the Snaketar repeatedly, in the back, and killing it!

Sir Beshnen calls for the three girls and they hurriedly get out from under the bed. Karikari turns and is about to look at one of the decapitated Snaketars when Sir Beshnen turns her away from it.

You don’t need to see that, sweetheart. Riccralerac, get them and their things to the Multi-Vehicle! Sir Beshnen demands. Reehari and I will make sure the rest are ready to go.

In another of the rooms; the very beautiful, blue-eyed, petite Princess Jitjil Saltill is helping a slim, 9-year-old girl with long brown hair with her three younger, dark-haired sisters. The tiny dark-haired Cita walks over to Jitjil and looks up at her.

Is mommy coming with us? Cita asks, near tears.

I don’t know, sweetie. Princess Jitjil says, as she picks up the tiny 6-year-old. Your father and the doctor are checking on the ‘sleepers’ while we got the rest of you ready to go.

But where are we going? Asks the 5-year-old Stepha. This is our house.

With the exception of the first war, I have lived in this castle since I was born. Princess Jitjil sadly says. Your father and I may be cousins, but we are probably closer than any brother and sister have ever been. When he grew up, he became my personal protector, and my personal knight. Until the virus hit me, I was blind, and I counted on him for nearly everything. The virus nearly killed me, but in a way, it helped me, too. Now, I can see. I am 37-years-old and up until the virus hit, I never could see the way you and the rest can.

What do you mean by that ‘Aunt Jill’? Hera asks.

I am what they call a ‘seer’ or a psychic. Princess Jitjil says. I could always visualize things, but I could never actually see them. I could sense danger and sense what something or someone looked like, but I couldn’t actually see them. Now, even though the virus made me deathly sick and nearly killed me, the after-effects gave me my sight. I can actually say that for me, it was a blessing. I can actually watch you, your sisters and my daughters grow into the beautiful young ladies that all of you will become. I just wish it hadn’t killed so many of us. The Kidonian Virus nearly wiped out our galaxy.

Princess Jitjil suddenly turns towards the door leading to the room. She starts for it, and glances back at the four girls.

Hera, I want you to stay in here and do not come out until I come and get you! Princess Jitjil demands.

But where are you going? Hera asks.

I sense a dangerous presence. Princess Jitjil replies. Stay here!

Princess Jitjil walks out of the room and closes the door. She takes a key from above the door’s thick wooden frame and is about to lock the door shut, when she quickly turns to find Snaketars standing around her! She is about to scream when a large hand covers her mouth. The large Doctarus has hold of the petite woman.

Scream and you die! Understand? Doctarus threatens.

Princess Jitjil frightfully nods her head. Doctarus turns her towards him.

What is in that room? Doctarus asks, as he removes his hand from her mouth.

My treasures. Princess Jitjil frightfully says. Who are you?

Doctarus, son of Ahpla! Doctarus replies. My father and Agemo would not allow me to fight in the first war, because I was still learning the traits of a sorcerer and an emperor; but I saw the pictures of you and the other original Star Patrol females. As soon as I laid eyes on your photo, I knew I had to possess the beautiful princess of Bazborn, the most beautiful princess in the universe.

Sir Beshnen will… Princess Jitjil starts, just as Doctarus puts his large hand over the beautiful woman’s mouth, again.

He is busy! Doctarus laughs. I have many Snaketars and soldiers already inside of this castle. He will not be able to stop me from taking you and the beautiful Treetet.

Doctarus pushes Princess Jitjil into the arms of some of his Snaketars. Princess Jitjil lowers her head, as one of them forces her arms behind her back and starts tying her wrists.

Tie her legs and gag her! Demands Doctarus. Leave her on the floor in front of her treasure room. We will retrieve her and her treasure, once we find Treetet. Two of you stand guard over her!

Doctarus walks off. Princess Jitjil is about to call out to him when the Snaketars gag her with a white strip of cloth. They force Jitjil to the floor and tie her legs, sitting her against the door. Two of them remain behind and the remaining four hurry off after Doctarus.

Laser-fire suddenly hits the wall near the Snaketars and Jitjil. The Snaketars look up to find a fairly small, blonde-haired man and a beautiful brown-haired girl standing before them! The Snaketars open fire on them, just as the man and woman hurry down the long stone corridor away from the room. The Snaketars instinctively chase after them.

The door to the room opens, and Hera and her sisters slowly step out of the room. Hera quickly drops to her knees in front of Princess Jitjil, and nervously takes the gag out of Jitjil’s mouth. Jitjil looks at her, a little perturbed.

I told the four of you to stay in the room! Princess Jitjil says, as she glances back at where the 5-year-old Stepha is untying her hands.

The very large, brown-haired, bearded Roosh Nosnococ, the small man named Jetirier Meandealra, and the beautiful Reorn Snebin hurry into the area. Roosh smiles down at where the four young girls are freeing Princess Jitjil.

Some things never change, do they, princess? Roosh remarks.

Princess Jitjil nervously smiles at Roosh, as he helps her to her feet. She smiles back at the four small girls.

Some things do, Roosh. Princess Jitjil says, smiling, as she hugs Stepha. This time, some of my rescuers are little kids. What happened to my attackers?

The two that were guarding you are dead. Jetirier says. Reorn and I had to get them away from the door, in case Hera or her sisters came out. We couldn’t take the chance that they could get hurt before we took care of them.

I told them to stay inside until I came and got them! Princess Jitjil says. I guess they are as stubborn as their father is.

It is a good thing Sir Beshnen is that stubborn, princess. Roosh replies. It is probably a very good reason that you are still alive.

Princess Jitjil nods her head. She suddenly looks in the direction that Doctarus went.

They went after Treetet! Princess Jitjil says. She’s with Krysala and Lara!

Explosions rock the area! A portion of the stone roof falls near them. Princess Jitjil quickly scoops up the screaming 4-year-old Mika!

Beshnen and Reehari are checking on the rest of his children and the rest of you! Roosh says. My assignment is to get you and these four to the MV! Now let’s go!

Deeper in the castle, Reehari’s three young daughters are with the beautiful, 5'2", brown-haired, bespectacled, 32-year-old Rearna Hardry. The very small, blonde-haired, 12-year-old Sadie Seehisa is holding a tiny three-year-old girl, and the small, brown-haired, 12-year-old Mesa Snebin has a 2-year-old girl in her arms. The chubby, 10-year-old Roan Seehisa is helping Rearna pack the girls’ clothes and toys in some cardboard boxes.

The door to the room is suddenly slung open! Rearna quickly and frightfully turns! The Snaketars stand before her with a very muscular man. The man grabs her and forces her arms behind her back, as she tries to get away from him.

The two baby girls start crying in the arms of Sadie and Mesa. Roan is about to run from the room, when two of the Snaketars turn their weapons on her! Rearna, her hands being tied behind her back, turns in Roan’s direction. Rearna shakes her head ‘no’, and Roan stops.

A skinny, blonde-haired woman suddenly appears out of nowhere! The colorfully dressed woman snatches Rearna away from the shocked Snaketars and vanishes with her!

Kill the kids! The Snaketar demands.

Sorcerer Riccralerac appears with Reehari and the 5'6" Randra Hardry! The two open fire and quickly kill the Snaketars. Reehari turns towards his daughters, and the infant daughters of Sir Beshnen.

Let’s go! Demands Reehari. Get Feffy and Brindy out of here!

But we haven’t finished packing all of their stuff, yet?! Remarks Sadie.

Sorceress Jaccralerac reappears with Rearna. The brother and sister sorcerers look around the room.

Are all their belongings in here? Jaccralerac asks.

Yes. Rearna replies. But we didn’t get to finish before the Snaketars showed up.

That won’t be a problem. Jaccralerac says, smiling.

Jaccralerac waves her arms and the clothes, toys and belongings disappear and reappear inside of the boxes. She smiles at the rest, as they pick up the boxes.

If you can do all of that, why don’t you just magically make us appear inside of the ship? Roan asks.

I can carry only a few people at a time with my powers. Jaccralerac replies.

Jaccralerac and I are limited with living beings. I am more powerful than she is, but I can’t carry a large group of people, either. It keeps our powers from becoming too dominant. All powers of humans and other creatures have a weakness to keep them from becoming absolute. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Riccralerac says. Jaccralerac can take the babies with her. That will keep them from getting hurt if we run into more of the Snaketars.

Sadie and Mesa hand the two crying girls to Jaccralerac. Jaccralerac vanishes with them. Riccralerac looks around at the rest.

I can take more of the girls, or I can take the belongings of Feffy and Brindy? Riccralerac says. What would you rather I do?

Take the belongings. Reehari says. Randra and I can keep the girls safe on the way back to the ship.

Riccralerac vanishes with the boxes in the room. Reehari looks at his shocked daughters, and the equally surprised Mesa.

Girls, before this is over, that might be the least surprising thing you will ever see. Reehari says.

In another room in the huge castle, the beautiful, blonde-haired Treetet is helping an 8-year-old and 5-year-old girl put their clothes in some bags. An explosion violently rocks the area, and the 5-year-old, brown-haired Lara falls to the floor. Treetet quickly helps her to her feet and picks up the now crying girl. The dark-skinned, 8-year-old Krysala tearfully looks up at her sister and the 37-year-old Treetet. Another explosion goes off and part of the roof falls to the floor, barely missing Krysala. Another chunk falls, hitting Treetet in the head. She is immediately knocked out and falls to the floor. Lara falls out of her arms and safely lands on the bed.

Krysala starts screaming, as more of the roof comes down around her, her sister and Treetet. Rycek, Tyno and Densin rush into the room. Densin quickly checks on the bleeding Treetet, as Rycek and Tyno grab the two small girls. Densin scoops up Treetet and the three men hurry from the collapsing room with the three girls.

Down the collapsing corridor, Taccney is carrying the 5-year-old Dani, as the 7-year-old Britty follows them, dragging two canvas bags behind her. Taccney has another of the canvas bags in her left hand, as she cradles the crying Dani in her right arm. The area directly ahead of them suddenly collapses as explosions continue to go off outside of the castle. Taccney stops, looking around in terror, as the castle collapses around them.

Sir Beshnen and the very stocky Seve Yarg hurry out to them from the opposite direction of the collapsed part of the castle. Taccney, fear starting to overtake the young woman, looks up at Sir Beshnen. Britty frightfully hurries into her father’s arms, dropping the bags that she has been carrying. Seve quickly picks them up.

Beshnen… ? Taccney asks, as the castle collapses around the five of them.

Sir Beshnen raises his shield over their heads. The shield starts expanding until it is more than fifty feet in circumference. The shield starts forming itself into a bowl until it completely covers all five of them! The castle walls and its interior collapses all around them!

Minutes later, the majority of the castle has collapsed. Reehari and Roosh hurry over to where the five were. A large mound of rubble is covering that area. Sir Beshnen forces his way up out of the rubble, still holding onto the huge shield. He reaches down into the area that the shield kept clear of the rubble and picks up Dani, handing her out to Reehari. He reaches down, again, and picks up Britty, handing her out to Roosh. He helps Taccney climb out of the area and she is followed by Seve with the bags from the girls’ room.

Sir Beshnen, Roosh and Reehari turn towards the field leading to the castle, as more than twenty of the egg-shaped Snaketar ships land. Sir Beshnen draws his sword, and Taccney quickly stops him.

We can’t fight, Beshnen! Taccney excitedly says. Think of all of the kids! If we fight, they could get killed! Dani and Britty are in the open! Do you want them to get hurt?

She’s right. Roosh says, Britty in his arms. We need to get out of here before they get hurt.

Sir Beshnen agrees with him and Taccney. The five adults hurry towards a huge ship that stretches over a mile in length, and 200 feet high. The 5'8" Buhiu and Randra stand in the door of the ship, a slanted, red-carpeted ramp leading down from the door that is a good twenty feet off of the ground. The men and Taccney sprint up the ramp with the small girls. Buhiu and Randra open fire behind them, as hundreds of Snaketars come out of the shuttles!

Inside the ship, Roosh hurries towards a console of blinking lights, buttons and toggle-switches! He hands the crying Britty off to Disise, as Taccney takes Dani from Reehari. Roosh sits in a large padded chair in front of the console, and is joined by his 5'4", heavy set wife, Kimimmi. The two start punching buttons and flipping toggle switches. Behind their chairs are three more chairs positioned in the center of the bridge. Rearna hurriedly takes a seat behind a computer station, and Bebhay takes a seat to the left of hers, at another computer station. Buhiu hurries onto the bridge and sits down behind another station with a large screen. Randra rushes on to the bridge!

Engines are fired-up and fully charged! Randra reports. Buhiu and I had them warming up while you were retrieving your girls! We’re ready to go when you are, Beshnen!

Roosh, take us up! Sir Beshnen demands.

The mile-long ship starts rising into the sky. Rearna turns back towards Sir Beshnen, worriedly.

I scanned outer-space above Bazborn! There are 1,123 Snaketar ships overhead! Rearna replies.

    Buhiu? Sir Beshnen asks.

Even with the superior fire-power of the MV, and its shields; there’s no way we can withstand the onslaught of that many ships. Buhiu replies.

And the MV can’t outrun them, either. Randra replies. Snaketar ships are just as fast as the Multi-Vehicle is.

We can’t stay here! Taccney exclaims. The Snaketars would love to get their hands on your daughters, my daughters and the other female descendants of the Star Patrol.

A large, heavy-set, 38-year-old man walks onto the bridge; followed closely by a shorter, slightly chubby, 34-year-old man. The shorter man hands Sir Beshnen a glowing ball.

That ball can get us out of here! The shorter man reports. If you can get it into space, it will explode into three black holes. You can take the MV into one of them and we can escape the Snaketars!

Sir Beshnen turns to where Sorcerer Riccralerac and Sorceress Jaccralerac have walked onto the bridge. He hands the ball to the male sorcerer.

Can you get Birna’s ball out there? Sir Beshnen asks.

Yes. Sorcerer Riccralerac replies. Birna, you said that we could take the MV into one. Won’t the Snaketars just follow us?

No. As soon as the MV enters the black hole, it will collapse. Birna replies. The Snaketars won’t be able to follow.

Where will it take us? Disise nervously asks.

Does it matter? The larger Cameroon says. We stay here and the Snaketars will either destroy the MV or take it over.

Cameroon’s right. We need to flee! Sorcerer Riccralerac replies.

I created the ball from Birna’s specifications. If he says it will create black holes, then I believe him. Cameroon replies.

I cannot guarantee where the black hole will deposit us, Beshnen. Birna replies. We could come out on the other side of our solar system, or on the other side of our galaxy. We could even come out on the other side of the universe!

Either way, it is better than where we are, now! Sir Beshnen replies, as he looks at the 100 foot wide and 50 foot high front window of the ship and the many Snaketar ships in front of the ship. Buhiu, can you and Randra take out the ships ahead of us?

    Easily. Buhiu says, smiling.

Count on it, Sir Beshnen! Randra says.

Buhiu and Randra push some buttons on the computer consoles in front of them. Missiles and balls of energy shoot out from the ship’s guns and blasts apart the ships in front of them! Sir Beshnen turns towards Sorcerer Riccralerac and nods his head! Riccralerac’s hands glow and the ball disappears from his hands and reappears hundreds of yards in front of the ship! It explodes into three black voids.

Sir Beshnen hits a button on the arm of his large chair. He glances back at the rest.

I want everybody to hold onto something! Sir Beshnen demands. Jitjil, Treetet, Ginge, Rycek, Densin, Tyno, Jetirier and Derain; the children of all of us are in your hands. Make sure they are secured and cannot get hurt. We are about to go on a long trip! You have five minutes to carry out these orders!

Sir Beshnen glances over at Buhiu and Randra. He turns towards where Taccney has sat in a chair and fastened herself into it, still tightly holding onto Dani. Disise quickly takes a chair beside of her and puts on a seat-belt, still holding onto Britty.

Buhiu, Randra; we need five minutes. Sir Beshnen says. Can you fight them off for that long?

Beshnen, we’ll be lucky to hold them off for one minute. Randra says. The MV may have strong shields, but you’re talking about those shields taking the blasts of over 1,000 Snaketar and Empire ships.

Sir Beshnen hits his communication’s button, again. He worriedly looks around at the rest on the bridge.

Time’s up for securing the kids! Sir Beshnen demands. Hang on tight! It might be a rough ride!

The bridge crew locks themselves into their seats via the belts on each of their chairs. Sir Beshnen turns back towards where Roosh and Kimimmi are waiting.

Hit it, Roosh! Sir Beshnen demands. Take us into the third black hole to the right!

Roosh takes the Multi-Vehicle into the black hole. It collapses upon the ship’s entrance. The Snaketar warships roar into the other two black holes. All three black holes collapse, seconds later.

    CHAPTER 2

In a faraway galaxy, the mile-long tube-shaped Multi-Vehicle comes out of the dark void. The rocket boosters beneath, and at the back of the Multi-Vehicle turn off, as the Multi-Vehicle floats in space, drifting through the stars.

Inside of the ship, Sir Beshnen and Reehari stand near the 100-foot wide front window. They glance back at where Roosh and Kimimmi are punching buttons on the ship’s control panel. The two men turn back towards the window, their arms crossed over their chests as they look at the endless array of stars before them. Sir Beshnen walks back to where Rearna and Bebhay are feeding in data in their computers. Rearna looks up at the much larger Sir Beshnen, her eyes bewildered.

What’s wrong, Rearna? Sir Beshnen asks.

We’re not in our solar system or our galaxy anymore. Rearna remarks, almost in disbelief. Beshnen, the computers can’t be right?

Why? What does it say? Roosh asks.

I’ll feed you the coordinates, and you can see for yourself. Rearna says, punching some buttons.

Roosh checks the coordinates and then turns to Sir Beshnen and Reehari, nodding his head in agreement with Rearna’s findings. Kimimmi stands and walks over to the window, along with Buhiu and Randra.

Your computer is not wrong, Rearna. According to the information that you sent me, we are most definitely at the edge of the Milky Way Galaxy. Roosh replies.

Cameroon, Birna, Sorcerer Riccralerac and Sorceress Jaccralerac walk onto the bridge, followed by Derain and Jetirier. Cameroon and Birna walk over to the large window at the front of the ship and gaze out at the stars.

Do you know where we are? Sir Beshnen asks.

Yes. According to the alignment of the stars, we are in the Milky Way Galaxy. Birna replies. I told you that we could come out anywhere.

Rearna, check and see how far Bazborn is from where we are, now. Sir Beshnen demands. And scan the area to see if there are any Snaketar or Empire ships around.

Rearna starts punching in some data. Sir Beshnen turns towards the corridor leading to the bridge, as he can hear footsteps and voices approaching. The 9-year-old Hera walks onto the bridge, holding the hand of the 6-year-old Cita. The two girls stop at where a circular window is on the left wall of the bridge. They nervously look back at their father, as they look out the window.

More of the daughters of Sir Beshnen, as well as the descendants of most of the original Star Patrollers, walk onto the bridge, some of the smaller ones being carried by some of the older ones. Princess Jitjil and Treetet walk out to them and take some of them by their hands. Taccney and Disise leave their seats and hurry over to the girls, as well.

We’ll get them back to their rooms, Beshnen. Princess Jitjil says.

No. Let them stay! Sir Beshnen demands. They are in this, just like we are. Bebhay, you or Rearna got the information I requested?

Yes, but I am not sure if it is right. Bebhay nervously says. The information I got says that we are more than 100 trillion light years from Bazborn.

Most of the descendants turn upon hearing Bebhay’s remark. Sir Beshnen nods his head towards Taccney and Disise, and the two girls, along with Princess Jitjil and Treetet, hustle the descendants down the corridor away from the bridge. Sir Beshnen calls out to Princess Jitjil, as she has one of her daughters in her arms.

My room is pretty large, if you want to take all of our younger family members to it. The Skeenins and the relatives of the Skeenins should be together. That includes your family, and the family of the Darkstars and the Yargs. Sir Beshnen replies. As soon as we get things sorted out on the bridge, we will all go to our respective families and talk to them about what is going on.

Treetet and I will try and calm them down, as best we can until you get there. Princess Jitjil replies. We’ll get Ginge and get her to bring Linada, Mindy and Miney there, as well. I know you, Reehari and Roosh need to figure out what to do next.

Princess Jitjil, Treetet, Taccney and Disise lead off the descendants of the originals. Sir Beshnen turns back towards Rearna and Bebhay.

Find us a world with atmosphere and climates that we can survive. Sir Beshnen demands. Make sure it is not one under the control of the Empire.

The Empire never got to the Milky Way Galaxy. Birna reports. You and the other originals stopped them in our galaxy, and they recalled all of their forces from the nearby galaxies to try and fight you. Once all of you had killed Agemo, Arutrot, Dracea, Ahpla and the armies of King Randor and Queen Palam; the entire universe thought it was over. After the Kidonian Virus wiped out 90 percent of our galaxy and the surrounding galaxies; everyone thought that there was no way for the Empire to regain its power. I guess the fact that we were hit by the virus convinced them that taking over, again, was possible.

There weren’t that many survivors from the original war. Sir Beshnen replies. More than half of us died in that war. Only about half of the main warriors made it back from that war, and some of them have died from the Kidonian Virus since then. Now, with a lot of us having children, the Empire has decided that attacking us, once again, was the right move. For them, I guess in a way it was. We can’t battle them without risking the kids, and none of us are willing to do that while none of the kids have their powers, yet.

Beshnen, I’ve found a world that could support us; but it is a long ways away from here. Rearna replies. It might be too far away for us to reach it.

    Where? Buhiu asks.

It is 100 million light years from here. Bebhay replies, as she looks at her computer. My little sister is right. It can support us. It has an oxygen/nitrogen atmosphere, gravity and a four season climate. But 100 million light years is a long ways.

Roosh, how long would it take to get back to Bazborn? Sir Beshnen asks.

We wouldn’t make it back without another black hole to deliver us there, and as Birna and Cameroon have said, black holes can deposit you anywhere, just like they did here. Roosh replies. One hundred trillion light years is an impossible journey. Even if the Multi-Vehicle could make that trip, we couldn’t.

The planet my sisters scanned is a good deal closer. Randra remarks. It is not Bazborn, but we could probably make that trip.

It is closer than Bazborn. Sir Beshnen says, agreeing with Randra. Buhiu, you and Randra are the ones that kept the Multi-Vehicle equipped and ready for action at a moment’s notice. Do we have enough supplies to make that trip?

Roosh, how long would it take to get to that planet? Asks Buhiu.

The Multi-Vehicle travels at twenty-million light years a year, so it would take approximately five years to reach that world. Roosh replies.

Then we could easily make it. Buhiu replies. To be honest with you, the food and supplies would last about fifty years, maybe more. We are the ones with a less lengthy time span. We can definitely make that journey.

With the exception of a few, all of the original Star Patrol survivors are on the bridge. Sir Beshnen says, as he looks around the bridge. The one benefit of the five years journey is that some of the younger kids will be teenagers by time we reach that planet. Bebhay, did you and Rearna always have your changeling powers?

No. They first started showing up when Rearna hit thirteen. I was a year older, but as you have seen, we have to be together at least once every 24 hours to make our powers work. Bebhay replies.

And I know that very few of the descendants have showed any signs of powers. The only ones that have are, at the very least, teenagers. Five years from now, Hera and the sisters closest to her age will be near thirteen or older. Truth is, the five year trip might be to our benefit. If the Empire and its forces find us, at least a few of them will be able to act. Sir Beshnen replies. I think we should go to that planet, but I want the input of the ones here! Does anyone disagree with that move?

You are our leader, Sir Beshnen. Rearna replies. It should be your choice.

You led a force of less than a hundred of us through the first war against billions of soldiers from the Empire. Bebhay replies. We will all be in agreement with what you decide. The biggest problem is that it is going to take five years to get there. The adults of us can probably handle being on a ship for that long; but can the younger ones.

And how do we keep the secret about… Rearna starts, and then stops, as the rest turn towards her.

That secret has to be kept! Sir Beshnen demands. Until she reaches the age of an adult, I do not want her or any of the others knowing what we did. It could cause a mental breakdown for her, and possibly for some of the others. When she is old enough, we will release the spell on her, and then we will have to deal with what we did. She does not need to know until then. She will grow up, just like the others, without knowing what has happened.

The ones on the bridge agree with Sir Beshnen. Sir Beshnen and Reehari walk over to the huge window. They glance back at Roosh and the rest on the bridge.

Set the course! Sir Beshnen demands. Put the ship on auto-pilot, and see to your kids, Roosh! All of the ones with dependants need to check on their people. We will see enough of this bridge for the next five years. For the rest of the day and night, I want all of us calming the nerves of the younger ones.

Sir Beshnen starts off the bridge, and Bebhay and Rearna hurry up to him. He glances at the two girls, curiously.

Your wives are either dead or in comas, with the exception of one, and we all know what has happened to her. Bebhay replies. You have thirteen children and Jitjil has two. I know your cousins are going to be there to help you, but Rycek, Densin and Tyno have kids to worry about as well. There are going to be nineteen young members in your group, and that’s if Seve doesn’t bring his there, as well. Every last one of them is females with the exception of Jor. Let Rearna and I help you with them.

Please, Beshnen? Our kids and husbands died from the Kidonian Virus. We need to do this. Rearna replies.

Sir Beshnen agrees with them, and the three walk off. Roosh, Kimimmi and Reehari start off of the bridge. They glance back at where Riccralerac, Jaccralerac, Cameroon, Birna and some of the others are standing.

We do not have descendants. Cameroon replies. Like a lot of the others, ours died from the virus.

Then help with the others or get some rest. Reehari replies. The fact that we are going to have to spend five years on this ship is going to be bad enough for all of us. None of us should be spending the entire time on the bridge or just standing around. We are going to have to find ways to occupy our time.

Roosh, Kimimmi and Reehari leave the ship. Sorcerer Riccralerac takes the hand of his pretty twin sister, and heads off of the bridge. Riccralerac glances back at the rest.

It will be a long journey. Riccralerac says. We do need to occupy ourselves, otherwise. We need to get settled.

    CHAPTER 3

In a room that is 200'x200', Sir Beshnen walks in with Rearna and Bebhay. Inside of the room, Princess Jitjil and Treetet are with his descendants, as well as the two daughters of Princess Jitjil. Seve sits on a couch with his dark-haired wife, and their 7-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter. Rycek is close to them with his 19-year-old, blonde-haired daughter, and her 3-year-old daughter. Densin sits in a chair with his 15-year-old, blonde-haired daughter beside of him. Tyno is close by to Densin with an 8-year-old, blonde-haired girl.

Rearna walks over and sits on a bed with the very small Feffy and Brindy. She puts her arms around the two girls and slides against the wall with them, trying to comfort them. Bebhay sits down on a small sofa with the 7-year-old Cheslea and the 5-year-old Tea. Sir Beshnen looks around at his many descendants and cousins. He shuts the door and turns towards them, his arms crossed over his chest.

    Any questions? Sir Beshnen asks.

Beshnen, you’re the father of most of them, not their commander. Bebhay says. Act like that. We’ve all watched you during the peace-time we had on Bazborn. We know how good a father you have been. Just because we are at war, now, doesn’t mean you have to change towards your children.

Sir Beshnen nods his head. He turns to where Karikari, Cherly and Macy are sitting.

The three of you are the ones that saw the most violence on Bazborn. You are the three that had a close-up meeting with the Snaketars. Sir Beshnen sympathetically says. Are you okay?

Cherly and Macy nod their heads. The tiny, 7-year-old Karikari walks into his arms, and he picks her up.

They scared me, daddy! Karikari cries. They made Miss Boost tie us up and they put cloth in our mouths. It was scary.

But were you hurt, other than that? Rearna asks.

No. Cherly replies. But it wasn’t very comfortable being tied up, and like Karikari, I was scared to death.

I know how the three of you feel. It happened to me, in the first war, a lot. Rearna replies. And it happened to Bebhay, Jitjil, Treetet, Disise, Taccney and a lot of the others. But we lived through it, just like you did. That is what is important.

So we’re supposed to just let them tie us up? The 9-year-old Hera asks.

Yes! Princess Jitjil replies. Yes, you are! If you’re ever in a situation where you can’t get away, you will do just that. The creatures that attacked and captured Karikari, Cherly and Macy will kill you if you do not cooperate with them. The older ones of us lost a lot of friends in the first war. We know how dangerous these things are. I was tied up God knows how many times by them, and I was tied up, again, at the castle before we fled, and if I have to be, I will be tied up God knows how many times more.

    But mom… The 7-year-old, brown-haired Lassie starts.

No buts, Lassie! Princess Jitjil replies. Right now, we are hopefully a long ways from the Empire and its soldiers; but I have a feeling that we will all see them, again.

And when we do, they will go after the capture, on females, first. Sir Beshnen replies, letting Karikari back to the floor and kissing her on the cheek. They are conquerors, but they are also slavers. Unless the issue is forced, they won’t go for the kill on any of you, first. If the fight is not winnable, I do not want you risking your lives. The Darkstar brothers, the rest and I will find you and we will free you; but we can’t free you if you are dead!

The tiny Karikari starts rubbing her right wrist, a little painfully. Treetet walks over and gets on her knees in front of her.

    Are you okay? Treetet asks.

My arm hurts. Karikari replies, her bluish-gray eyes watering.

I’ll take you to see Dr. Derain once we are done here, sweetie. Treetet says, hugging her. He can fix your arm.

So what happened to the twins and Karikari will happen to all of us? The nervous 6-year-old Cita Skeenin asks.

It is possible and it will probably happen, if we run across the Empire and their armies, again. Sir Beshnen replies. We fled Bazborn because of the Empire’s attack. We may or may not see them, again; but if we do, we will have to fight them. And if they find us, they will go after all of you. The fourteen of you that are mine, as well as the female descendants of all of the Star Patrol will be the main targets of the Empire and its forces. You will be valuable as females, but because you are the daughters of the original Star Patrol; you will be the most valuable people in the universe to the Empire! They will come after you, and they will try and use you against the rest of us. You are not only the most valuable to me and the rest of the Star Patrollers; but you are also the most valuable to the Empire! You are the ultimate trophies!

Why didn’t you stay and fight them? Britty curiously asks. We may be little, but we all know that you beat them before we were born.

Sir Beshnen walks over to the very pretty girl. He lifts her up and holds her in his arms, turning towards the rest, as he does.

We ran because of all of you. Sir Beshnen replies. At the ages all of you are, now, you wouldn’t be able to defend yourselves against the Empire. None of us would risk it.

But according to your history, they once ruled almost everything? Cherly remarks. What if they do it, again?

Then, also like our history, we will take it back! Sir Beshnen declares. Look, most of our descendants are not even ten-years-old. Against the armies of the Empire, you would be helpless. Our war with them can wait until you grow up, and we are able to teach you how to defend yourselves.

Sir Beshnen glances over at the yawning, 4-year-old Mika, as she can barely keep her eyes open. He turns to where Jitjil’s 4-year-old daughter, Maddie, is asleep against her.

We can talk in the morning. Sir Beshnen replies. A lot of you are worn out. You need to get some rest.

Derain walks into the room. Sir Beshnen and the rest turn towards him.

I’m checking to see if any of the ones in here got hurt when we fled Bazborn. Derain replies. Autumn, Taccney’s youngest daughter, had some cuts and I have already healed them. Disise said she was captured with three of your kids, and I know some of the rest had to get out of the crumbling castle. Do any of them need medical attention?

Treetet hustles Karikari over to Derain. Derain gets on one knee in front of her.

What seems to be the problem, honey? Derain asks.

Karikari holds out her right arm. Derain puts his glowing hands on the right wrist. Karikari and the rest of the girls watch, in amazement. He removes his hands and smiles at her.

    All better? Derain asks.

Yes. Thanks. Karikari replies, turning back to the smiling Treetet.

    Anyone else? Derain asks.

Macy nods her head, and walks over to Derain. She holds out her left arm, and Derain touches it with his glowing hands. She smiles and goes back to Cherly.

Derain looks around the room. A bruise is on the forehead of the 5-year-old Lara. He walks over to the long-haired girl and comes towards her with his glowing hand. She backs away, her blue eyes very wide. Jitjil steadies her and smiles down at her.

He is going to help you, honey. Jitjil says. He is our ‘healer’. He is the reason that most of us are still in one piece.

Derain touches the bruise, and it magically heals before the rest. He looks over at where a scratch is on Krysala’s right arm, and touches it, healing it instantly.

If any of you need attention, let Derain know. Sir Beshnen demands. He can help you.

Tea holds out her right foot. Derain curiously looks at her.

She’s been limping since we got out of the castle. Cheslea says. She tripped over some of the falling stuff.

Derain nods his head and touches her right ankle, healing it. She smiles at him, and she and Cheslea hug. He stands and heads for the door.

If any of the others need me, bring them to my office. Derain replies. I’ll check on the rest of the families.

Derain leaves the room. Sir Beshnen turns towards the many people in his room.

In the morning, I want a meeting with the originals of the Star Patrol, as well as our older members. Sir Beshnen says. For now, we need to get the little ones to bed. Hera, there is a room that you and the rest of the daughters of me and Nynac can use. It has four beds in it, already. I can take you to it.

Do you want your daughters together by who their mother’s were? Treetet asks.

That would probably be the best way to do it. Princess Jitjil adds.

True. Sir Beshnen says. Rearna, will you put Karikari, Cherly and Macy in a room for me?

But Karikari… Rearna starts, and then quickly stops, as eyes lock on her.

Bebhay glares at her younger sister and shakes her head ‘no’. Rearna, a little embarrassed quickly turns to the three girls.

No problem, Beshnen. Rearna quickly says, picking up Karikari and heading out of the room with Cherly and Macy on her heels.

I’ll talk to her. Bebhay says, as Sir Beshnen looks at her, a little frustrated. It’s been hard on all of us.

Bebhay picks up Dani, and she walks out of the room with Britty following. Princess Jitjil motions towards Krysala and Lara. The two, as well as Jitjil’s daughter, follows her from the room. Jitjil smiles back at Sir Beshnen.

We’ll get through this. I think the other problem might be bigger than the war. Princess Jitjil replies.

And if the other problem gets out, it could be just as confusing and dangerous. Sir Beshnen replies.

Princess Jitjil nods her head and leaves the room with the four girls. Treetet is about to walk off with Feffy and Brindy, when Brindy turns towards him.

What other problem, daddy? Brindy curiously asks.

It’s an adult thing, sweetie. Sir Beshnen replies.

    He’s right, honey. Treetet
