ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Gene H. Gause has practiced and taught martial arts for over 39 years. His journey began in 1967 after learning a few hand-to-hand combat moves from his dad. More formal training began in 1968 at a local Japanese karate class in Florence, South Carolina.
The system included various karate styles combined with judo, aki-ju jitsu, kobudo weapons, Iai do (quick draw sword), and zen meditation. The organization was headed by Dr. Albert C. Church. Jr. Master Gause was lucky enough to learn a special black belt kata and the quick draw sword directly from Dr. Church and earned his first black belt in 1970.
In mid 1970, Master Gause moved to Washington, D.C. to work for the government. He spent a short time learning Tang Soo Do Mu Do Kwon from the famous Master Kim Ki Whang.
Then in 1971 Master Gause joined Lin’s Kung Fu, the newly opened Tien Shan Pai school run by Lin Shih Kuang (Master
