This story, partly fiction, partly fact, will open your eyes to the question - Are we safe?

Since 9/11 we have experienced individual radical Jihadic attempts to kill people and affect the economy, namely Fort Hood, the Christmas plane, and Times Square, but not any attempts at mass terrorism.

Does this mean we are safe?

Not at all!

Plots of mass terrorism could be lurking all around us and we are not only ignorant of efforts, but feel comfortable that we are being protected.

Al-Qaida The Spider reveals that mass terrorism may be more than a one day plan. Plans to adversely affect many people and the economy may take many months or years, and Jihadists may be in place in our communities plotting simultaneous or timed actions.

Are brainstormed ideas being developed? And is needed protection in place?

You will hope that people like Toni Sharp are in place and have the responsibility to do the best they can to keep us safe!

Only recently has Art Aronson taken the time to begin to fulfill items on his Bucket List; writing a book is one of those items. This book is the first of what will be a Series. There are many parallels between the Author and the lead character Toni Sharp. However, there are obvious major differences. Mr. Aronson is an independent thinker and an American patriot who likes politics but not 'time wasters', incompetence or people who cannot think for themselves. This means he can be liberal on some issues, and conservative on others. He would therefore vote for the best person or solution, regardless of Party. Too many people blindly spew out Party rhetoric and memorize group reasoning, instead of asking what they can do for their country! As a Chemical Engineer, whose life and career were partly in the Corporate World, the author has lived in the Northeast, South, Far West, and Midwest of America. He has worked with and managed people of all kinds. He is an avid movie-goer and sportsaholic. He loves working in Sales and helping people get what they want. He has also worked in the Insurance and Automotive industries. So his interest in protecting people and preserving the economic foundations of the United States are basic, as is Homeland Security as a means to thwart mass terrorism. Art tries to help the reader understand and believe that protecting life is our inalienable right; not destruction, killing and false martyrdom. Why would a creator of life choose to support a killer of life; especially since the killer was totally and irreconcilably evil?

Preface

What’s our next terror threat?

That’s the title of the cover story in USA Today on January 26, 2010. This story covered concerns and cautious optimism on terrorism.

Six people, well stationed, famous in the military, politics, and law enforcement, were interviewed, and their answers on terrorism were published in the article. I won’t mention their names; you can read what they say. I can’t refute their opinions, but I cannot believe their lack of imagination, which is one reason I wrote this book.

The jihadist plot in this book is imaginary. However, my emphasis is that the potential can be real, and that is why the threat cannot be taken lightly. That is why attention needs to be focused more sharply on possible situations that can be hatched. That is why more great thinkers like Toni Sharp, connector of the dots, must be promoted and rewarded to dedicate themselves to preserving the security of our country.

The results and the outcome here have the potential to be different. Just realize what might happen if Toni did not have appendicitis? I will let you figure that out as you follow the story; but realize that al-Qaeda and terrorism and the jihadist trends and threats must continue to be discerned, uncovered, and thwarted wherever they arise.

This book bears absolutely no prejudice toward Muslims but basically reflects a defensive posture in the United States against jihadists.

Chapter 1

Toni Emerges

Fort Hood’s terrorists soldier killer and the would-be Christmas Day plane bomber and the Times Square bomber were individual amateur attempts and actions by people who had become radical jihadists. These were different scenarios than the United States was exposed to on 9/11 of 2001, when mass terrorists flew planes into the Twin Towers in New York City, the Pentagon, and the ground in Pennsylvania.

These individual attempts have mistakenly led ignorant people to assume that al-Qaeda is weaker than it was because some of their adherents have been captured or killed since 9/11. This could not be further from the truth, based on what the terrorist organization is planning long-term for the United States and other Western capitals in the future.

These were the thoughts expressed by Toni Sharp, the newest member of the undercover antiterrorist support team that the CIA had established specifically to unearth the newly radicalized jihadists springing up as a trend domestically and around the world. The Jordanian doctor who suicide-bombed a number of CIA operatives was another example of individual latent tendencies that needed to be detected, exposed, and defused as soon as possible wherever they existed.

Toni Blaze Sharp was a product of the early 1980s born of Jewish Ukrainian immigrants who had decided to settle in the Boston area. Her father was a meek man who had been a shopkeeper in Eurasia and looked to do the same in America. Her mother helped in the family neighborhood clothing store; even with the stiff competition of department stores, people still liked to have local shops to get personal friendly attention at bargain basement prices.

Toni had much older siblings who were married and lived on their own; she saw them only at family functions or holidays. She had a number of cousins in the area who had also come from Europe after WWII to settle in the same Massachusetts communities.

Toni was a latchkey kid, as her parents were always working long hours in their shop six days a week. She grew up like an only child, with little parental attention and almost zero intentionally transmitted love. She was of superior intelligence and did not have to do much studying, but she liked going to school and having friends. She was also very athletic and sports minded.

Her parents also made her attend Hebrew school after public school to learn Hebrew and Jewish religious customs and traditions.

Toni grew up as a tomboy in an ethnically mixed neighborhood that included Irish, Italian, and Portuguese, mostly boys, which helped toughen her up. Almost every street that had kids growing
