About this ebook

Many life stories are represented in this book that is presented as a poetic autobiography. The author uses the poetic "voice" to announce that we are all "wonderfully made" despite being told or treated otherwise. Although there is anger, pain and protest on the pages, there is also love, pleasure and power included. The book is both cultural autobiography and poetry therapy. It is both sad and sassy. The goal is for the reader to leave the work with a new sense of priceless value. What is most interesting is that the author gets to your heart and brain with powerful poetry that can assist you with self expression and empowerment.

    Praise for Nanthalia’s Work

Some time ago, the author of this book presented me with a precious gift: the opportunity to read her poetry and provide a critique of her work. Woven through her words, she not only revealed part of herself and her soul, but also she presented me with a mirror that afforded me a glimpse into my own. The lines of her poems brushed past me, inciting a range of emotions from blue funk to eroticism to equanimity. The end result was an intimacy between my consciousness and the intensity of her literary voice. This book is a gift I encourage others to unwrap.

I re-read your book of inspirational and thought-provoking poems. As I journeyed through the poems, my school days crept up with memories of light-skinned, long-haired, oh-so-cute classmates who did not befriend me and teachers who overlooked my appetite for learning because I didn’t have that outward beauty. Even during those times, I knew I was WONDERFULLY MADE because mother and father told me so…I am ready to stay in the race to help others reach their potential.

Nan, your book causes me to reflect on the first time I met you as a college freshman. Even then, your awareness caused me to sense that you were a person far beyond the ordinary. Little
