Dear Reader,
In the hours after dark, when the creatures of the night walk—it is time for mystery—and romance. Diamond’s Detective Mystery Stories are a special collection which brings together mystery from my first and second novels, along with more enjoyable crimes stories.
Detective Diamond is an awesome man. In each mystery story, a few of the characters from my previous novels come to life again.
Yours truly,
Mary Beni
Author’s forward
Jack Diamond had been a New York City Police Officer. Then he became a homicide detective, who is now working for the Central Eye Agency. Diamond walks with a cool strut. He usually speaks with his cherry cigar hanging from his left lip.
Diamond will reinvestigate the police departments’ many cases of unsolved crimes. The files are down the block from the Woolworth Building in New York City. One Police Plaza isn’t very far from the dusty basement where the case files have remained for nearly one half of a century. These records sit in the duty basement of New York City’s Police Department’s archive. This office is bullet proof, and has steel walls.
Jack Diamond Schuster is known as a young hot cop with good character. There was a secret that he had. He is in fact a vampire. He was at the very first behind the scenes plans of the Declaration of Independence. He knew what when on from the beginning of time. He has been forty years old for centuries. Each time he is hired he uses a different name. The high power of the vampire kings is behind Schuster’s thrown. He comes from the kingdom of the days before Jesus Christ. He began studying the law of Christianity and liked them. He is determined to help save passive feminine ladies with his kiss. He will destroy evil men with the same promise.
My first novel which is titled The American Presidency set the tone for this crime series. The last investigation which Diamond did was the Conspiracy Theory investigation of the American Presidency files. This lead to his new assignments, which we’ll understand as we study the crime stories in this book.
Jack is now assigned to all the unsolved crimes that had been reported to the office of The Broadcast, which is a well-known media giant. The cases are sitting in the files.
Diamond wonders whether The Central Eye Agency may be part of the conspiracy. His paranoia become worries the reader too. Jack wants these cases solved. The families of the deceased need closure. The following stories in Diamond Investigations continue with some of the characters from the previous novels. I’m gratified that many readers have responded very well to these characters. Susan Dallas is especially liked. She works for I.B.F. News. Diamond and Rachel are still working for The Central Eye Agency.
If you have been following Diamond, you know that Jack Diamond Schuster has some problems with women in authority, with ladies in general, and especially with his own ego. These problems have had an effect on his life since he was a boy. Jack is also a Medical Physician, with a specialty in forensics.
The case file titled, Sister of Satan is very frightening—illegal drugs planted in American cities. But planted by whom? We know who our enemies are, so it’s time to speculate on who is doing this. Or is it? Sometimes we need to keep watch on our neighbors, family, and our friends.
It is interesting to see how Jack Diamond Schuster evolved from New York State. He was a product of New York Police Department. Diamond knew the ropes as a former police man who became a homicide detective. It is not a secret that he had been convalescing from psychiatric problems. He went to the farm that many New York City Police officers have been at. He believed that his crazies originated from his job. He knew that he was working with New York City Cops who were mixed in organized crime. His fears stemmed from the specialists who sent him to the police psychiatry department. Diamond was sent to psychiatry by demented law enforcement officials who were also mixed up in the conspiracy theory that Jack formulated a very long time ago. And of course from the disturbing crime scenes he has been assigned to. Jack’s crime scene work wasn’t easy. Dismembered people, raped woman, and other sick crimes have bugged Jack very much. He works with anti-sexual assault organizations that care for rape victims, at crisis center across the United States. This evolution is sad because of the way society is during this century. Inside cover ups, and high powered political rackets.
Diamond is a product of the century’s changes in technology, and everything else in the humanities. He first thought that being part of the sexual revolution was great. So while the street crime in New York City took him to investigate the hooker houses, he took pay offs and enjoyed apartment number 19. Jack became mixed in pushing issues under the rug, and was able to push it out of his mind. When he was in his vampire state of mind, he did nothing wrong.
Along the patch of his visits to the massage parlor, Jack Diamond contracted Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, from a hooker named Rachel Machiavelli. This woman became his boss. They both lived with their diseases.
In previous novels the beginnings of their work together are interesting. Neither agent knew during those days of anything about their own illnesses. What the reader enjoys is deciding for themselves whether each is actually a vampire, or not? Or is being a vampire simply a fragment of Diamond’s imagination?
Diamond didn’t know his boss from the Central Eye Agency had been a prostitute in the past. He fell in love with her. She was using him to cover up the conspiracy which Diamond eventually found was being controlled from inside, the American Presidency. The man controlling the conspiracy was clearly Charles Montgomery, Esq. the former president of the United States of America.
It goes without saying that Jack Diamond and Rachel Machiavelli are fated to meet always, and never to battle. At times it appears that Machiavelli is fragment of Diamond’s heart, and imagination?
This is a good opportunity for me to thank my readers for their continued interest in my novels. I hope you enjoy this collection of short crime stories as well as my other novels.

HUMAN RESOURCES FILES OF CENTRAL EYE AGENCY
Jack Diamond: A formally trained Central Eye Agency detective. He is reviewing ‘old case files’ that have been in the Times Square’s Police Station archive for many years. He also is working on ‘new cases.’ Diamond had been trained by the Central Eye Agency Director Clarence Weinstock. He began his cool strut as a detective on streets of East New York. He worked his way up to private eye. Diamond has a Doctoral Degree in Forensic Psychology. Immediately out of college with his Master’s Degree in social work, Diamond worked as a prison psychologist in Creedmoor’s’ psychiatric facility. He was the psychotherapist of the killer who sawed off the limbs of a boy whose head was found on the Belt Parkway. He has years of experience with problem-solving; especially with crime scene investigations. Diamond doesn’t like the district attorney’s office, because he feels that it should be the police that solve the crimes. He often complains to Rachel, that the District Attorneys’ have their ways of leaving evidence out of the cases all too often. Jack kept his book titled, The Fifty Minute Hour with him at all times. This was a reading he had to study when he was a student at the City University of New York , for his course in ‘abnormal psychology.’ This course was all about learning psychopathic behavior. Jack felt the spit of Rachel’s love in his mouth every minute. He worshiped her until she passed through the tunnel of light. Diamond didn’t realize that since she died that Rachel was only a wasteland companion. He was dizzy in love with a memory. This always interfered with his work as a detective.
Rachel Machiavelli: Rachel is usually right by Diamond’s side as they dive into the crime scenes. She’s Jack Diamond’s imaginary lover. She’s his spirit in the sky, whose love vibes give Jack the strength to carry on. She is his true love medium. She still hasn’t come back as a semi-human like Diamond.
Susan Dallas: She’s been with IBF NEWS AGENCY. She has worked with most of Diamonds’ cases as a Central Eye Agency News Woman. She still does the crime scene news. Dallas is also Diamond’s lover. She has come back in physical form from the dead. She looks as young as Jack Diamond.
John Farrell: This forensic pathologist also known as the coroner can determine a corpse’s time of death within fifteen minutes just by observing the deceased. He takes care of the toxicology reports, examines the body for missing parts, and determines whether the death was violent, sudden unexpected. He also finds traces of evidence, and is specialized in forensic serology and DNA testing. He is in his mid-thirties. He is not a vampire.
Detective Larry Swartz: Head investigator for local precinct. He loves lamb chops.
The District Attorney John Down: An elected official by a political party. He is in charge of the cases which go to court.
Detective Franklin Shaft: At five-feet-one, Detective Shaft can be an intimidating cop. His motto, Give them a Poly Gram immediately.
Hillary McKay: One of the best investigative journalists of the world. The American Presidency novel by Mary Beni explains the beginning of this characters life; and how she actually became Rachel Machiavelli.
Police Officer Sadie Rosen: Station house police officer.
Police Officer Sonia Raven: Station house cop.
Sniper: Diamond’s K9 dog.
Rosemary Ognibene: A brilliant defense attorney who finds that The American Presidency reveals that the entire world is caught up in hidden law-breaking, appalling secrets, and longings of the flesh.
Judge War: A party hack who always gets the corruption cases in the highest court. He’s famous saying is ‘it’s only life.’
THE MEDIUM
Jack Diamond was drinking rum and cola at the bar of a high end restaurant in New York City . He ordered Larry Schwartz’s lamb chops, and a twenty four ounce top sirloin for himself.
Jack looked at his watch, as Schwartz walked towards him. Hey old man take a look at my life, I’m very much like you.
Schwartz nodded, and said, Did you order my chops?
The bar tender placed smoking hot food on the bar. Both detectives smiled. They began to eat their dinner. Jack called the waiter to the bar. I’d like some wild rice.
Sure boss, replied the waiter.
Schwartz said, The wheels are in motion.
What are you talking about asked Jack Diamond? Schwartz called out to the bartender; give me a double Johnny Red on the rocks.
Swartz looked directly at Diamond and said, "Some woman called and asked for you. She told me she has a lead to the Mexican cartel. She wants to come to the precinct to talk to you about having her spirit connect to the drug Lords. Imagine that shit. She also told me that she knew you would believe her."
So diamond what’s up with the spirit connection, cited Larry Schwartz.
Diamond looked dumfounded. He began to mash his hot potatoes with three pats of salted butter. He stared down at his plate. The lady is right thought Jack silently to himself.
Swartz took a call on his cell phone. Hello Swartz here.
The caller identified herself as the, Spirit in the Sky. Listen lady this is the police department. We don’t have times for foolish games,
said Swartz. Then he clicked off his phone. He would give the number to the tracing department when he returned back to the precinct. Jack we got that nut calling again saying that she is ‘the spirit in the sky,
said Schwartz. Jack’s eyes shined as a halo surrounded him. Swartz was startled as the light around Jack’s head turned colors of the rainbow. Jack said, Let’s eat,
as Swartz appeared to have a nervous twitch to his left eye. Jack was took a bite of his lab chops. He was in vampire heaven as he knew the medium was in touch with him. He is certain that Rachel was now there with him, and Swartz. As Jack ate he began to feel a warmth throughout is entire physique. Heart of desire, my soul is on fire,
said Jack. What the heck are you talking about asked Detective Swartz? Diamond merely smiled as he began to eat his mashed potatoes. Swartz scratched his head, gulped down his drink, and called to the waitress to bring some buttered garlic bread to the table.
Diamond looked at Swartz and demanded that he tell the waitress to forget about the garlic bread. Jack was worried that the garlic would damage his aura. In fact garlic keeps vampires down from using their special powers. This is a fact about the vampire. Diamond we agreed on a strategy, and signed off on it.
What are you talking about? Swartz replied you have different visions of police work, and evidently they aren’t conventional.
The song Let the Good Times Roll was playing loudly on the jukebox. Jack was humming the song along with the record player. Today Jack was bright, and cherry. Smoke circled his head with the scent of his cherry cigar. Suddenly Diamond felt a dizzy spell coming over him. Jack began to speak to the spirit in the sky. He called out loudly, above the music coming from the juke box, Rachel my sweet darling, I’m calling you to me my sweet spirit in the sky. I did that to you not because I wanted to. My mind is troubled. The Jack said, I only did what I had to do. Come home my sweetheart, please come home.
Swartz looked at Diamond, and said, I’m requesting that you see the police shrink.
Diamond looked back at his boss, and cited, ‘what do you think that you’re my mother?’ Then Swartz told Jack Diamond, You better get your act together.
Diamond replied, God Only Knows, and so does the police psychic. Swartz put his hand on Jack’s shoulder, and said, Next you’re going to tell me that you’re a clairvoyant?
Swartz motioned to the bar hop to come to him. Then he told Diamond he should take a leave of absence. Diamond felt like this dramatic conversation should stop immediately.
Jack took off his jacket. He felt a dizzy spell coming over him. This spell always occurred before his psychosomatic mechanisms were beginning to open. His telepathic nerve endings or whatever paranormal thing that was beginning, had much to do with his dizzy spells. The lights in his head went out. He felt that all his were words gone. Jack appeared to be as if he were stargazing.
Swartz said, I’ve had enough of you today.
He asked the bar tender for his check, and hurried back to the job.
Diamond finished the food that Swartz left on his plate. His speech came back. Jack suddenly imagined a spiritual light across the room. Then he ordered a strawberry sundae.
He thought of how his mother didn’t believe he was in touch with the spirits in the sky. When Diamond was a child he would get dizzy spells. His mother took him to a psychiatrist; because he would tell his mother to leave him alone. He would make it clear to his mother that he was busy talking to the man who lived next door who died.
His mother said, Stop this nonsense you naughty boy, or you will get a spanking.
Sometimes in elementary school, when Jack should have been paying attention to his teacher he would be having conversations with himself. Or at least this is how it appeared to the teacher in charge.
Young Jack was overwhelmed with his extra-sensitive sense of smell, strength, and perception. The educator had to report this strange behavior to the guidance counselor. Jack told the school psychologist that he’s talking to his grandmother who died. Mr. Cohen the counselor said, This is only your imagination young man.
No it’s not, replied Jack. I’m taking you to see a specialist Jack,
said Carmelita Schuster. I’m not going cited the child. Yes you are.
The young child had no choice. Jack’s mother took him to a specialist called a psychoanalyst. After one thousand hours of psychotherapy for three times a week, for a year, the Doctor of Psychoanalysis determined that the boy needed to speak to a psychiatrist. This psychotherapist believed that he also needed medication to stop the delusions of speaking to the dead.
Ironically the psychiatrist diagnosed Jack with the illness called the Vampire Disease. He told Jack and his mother the clinical term for the illness, which is called porphyria. The sickness is a set of rare blood disorders. This illness causes the blood production of a human to go wacky. Jack’s mother began to cry when the doctor said, It’s not curable.
This now explained the reason that Jack was extremely sensitive to sunlight. This also explained why Jack’s urine is a purple color. Jack was getting in trouble with his mother for putting colored water in the toilet. He always said, Mom I urinated the purple piss.
She didn’t believe him. But now as the psychiatrist explained more about the Vampire Disease, both child and parent had a meeting of the minds. I’m not letting you be a vampire,
said Jack’s mother. The doctor looked at the woman with empathy. Sorry, nothing can be done for your son about the symptoms, but he can have normal life too.
Jack was shaving his body, and getting his mother angry because he used all her razors. Now they both realized that his hair growth increased from the vampire disease. This also explained his pointy teeth that appeared liked lion’s teeth.
Just as the psychiatrist stated, Jack would be able to have a normal life in the working world. His disease
