Preface
When I was preparing for my final year examinations at the University of Lagos, I came about the phrase Management Theory Jungle
. I became fascinated and decided to find out why Prof. Koontz chose to coin this for my favorite course. I also noticed that students of Comparative Management did not seem to know the Schools to which contributors of Management Theories belong. I therefore decided to embark on the writing of this handbook by bringing out clearly the classification of the various Schools and their contributions to the study of Management. Each chapter is devoted to each School of Thought for easy reference and understanding. This is a deliberate attempt to enable students, researchers and practitioners see at a glance each School, the contributors and their contributions.

Foreword
Prince ’Jide Adetule’s Handbook on Management Theories, is a well-researched, interesting and readable book. The painstakingly done catalogue of the Management Theories with the comprehensive list of management theorists and authors makes the book easily understandable. I am personally fascinated that in spite of office work-load, social problems in a society such as ours and home-front demands; someone still finds time to put this piece together as his contribution to enrich and widen mankind’s intellectual horizon. It takes a resilient, determined and disciplined person to produce this kind of book. It is a testimony to Prince ’Jide Adetule as an organized person not only in his university days but also in his working life.
I sincerely hope that this effort will spur other working class people to write books, which will complement those already published by various eminent scholars both within and outside our universities. I therefore, wholeheartedly recommend this book for the use of all PhD, MBA, PGD and undergraduate students. Professionals and general readership will find this book an irresistible addition to their libraries.
