PROLOGUE
Fascism is very much like communism. Both are highly centralized in authority. But communism scares the hell out of people. It reminds people of the gulag, murder, killing, and everything unpleasant about government.
Fascism doesn’t have that scary characteristic. To some, Fascism means the control of those menacing
, greedy
multinational corporations. And the people do not really object to that.
But Fascism seeps slowly into the freedom of a nation. Like a leaky pipe, you hardly notice it at first. Then slowly the little leak gets bigger and bigger, and finally becomes a gusher and your freedom is gone!
It took Mussolini over two years to finally get complete control of Italy.
How long will it take Obama?
CHAPTER I
"
WE FOOLED THEM ALL"
Sounds from the oval office.
We fooled them all!
Everything worked,
said Axelrod.
Like a dream!
said Emanuel.
Just like Alinsky said it would,
said Obama.
Trillions,
said Emanuel. Trillions!
Have you ever counted the zeros
?
The President shook his head, No
.
Twelve zeros,
laughed Axelrod.
Bankruptcy!
shouted Obama.
Absolutely! Bankruptcy!!
Twelve zeros,
muttered the President, as if rolling the figures over in his head.
There was a pause, as if they were silently digesting the zeros.
Finally Obama said, Create enough chaos and you can change the world.
Das Kapital?
I’m not sure,
said Axelrod. It could have been Saul Alinsky.
There was a pause.
Finally Emanuel broke the silence. Have you seen the stock market?
It’s about 7,000.
Just three zeros,
laughed Obama.
Even Hitler couldn’t do that.
Nor Mussolini.
We’ve fooled them all!
laughed Obama.
You’ve done the trick,
said Emanuel, looking at the President.
It’s time to collect.
Now we own GM…
And Chrysler…
And the banks…
And the mortgage companies…
And the insurance industry…
We own America!!!
And in just over 100 days…
It took Hitler five years…
And Mussolini over seven.
We’ve made hash out of capitalism in 100 days!
said Obama.
You can’t beat that…
And we’ll make it over in a year,
said Obama.
You’re the real Pied Piper,
said Emanuel.
The real Pied Piper,
reiterated Axelrod.
Looking at the President, Emanuel said, You have the magic touch.
Who said there is a sucker born every minute?
asked Axelrod.
I can’t remember.
I think it was P.T. Barnum.
But just remember these suckers are God’s people,
laughed Obama.
And then Axelrod said, Have any of you guys read the Manchurian Candidate?
They shook their heads no.
Ever see the motion picture?
Obama shook his head no.
Axelrod continued, You’re the hero.
Me?
Yes. YOU!
continued Axelrod. You’re the Manchurian Candidate.
There was a long pause as the group digested the Manchurian Candidate. Then Obama broke the silence.
The design was perfect,
he said. Perfect.
Bush was our demon.
He was our fake target,
said Obama.
Axelrod laughed. I liked the way we hid the real target.
Only after the election would the folks find out our real mission,
laughed Axelrod.
It was the system,
said Obama.
The system,
repeated Axelrod.
If the voters had known our dreams, our real target would have been squashed like a grape."
That’s why I insisted we use the teleprompter,
said Axelrod. We knew the exact words we wanted to say.
There is an art to misinformation,
said Obama.
And you’ve mastered it,
laughed Emanuel.
Only Rush knew what we were doing.
Our real target.
American Capitalism!
American Capitalism!!
echoed Obama.
Emanuel laughed. And the suckers thought Bush was the demon.
And nobody liked Bush except his mother!
said Obama.
But Axelrod, who wrote the stuff used on the teleprompter said, We wrapped Obama in swaddling clothes and made him the modern messiah. We were amazed how some of the most sophisticated and cynical newspaper men were so fooled. I remember one TV commentator saying, ‘When I heard Obama speak I almost peed my pants.’
