After more than twenty years of weekly Bible study groups, I consider myself well versed in that influential work. As an active member I have often given public discourses on Christian doctrine, prophecy, and literature, as well as Bible history. However, nothing in my religious background prepared me for the experience of a most amazing spiritual transformation and radical shift in consciousness. I have always believed in divine providence and miracles, but there was no scientific explanation for what occurred when I began transcending our physical world and hearing the Voice from beyond.

I was born in Europe and grew up in a Christian family. My father served in the Foreign Legion during World War II, and after the war my family moved to Brazil where I grew up. I got married at 18, had three daughters and my life seemed to have been on a straight course. I always carried a strong inner desire for mission, but I could not see a future outside my religious devotion. Gradually, by 1990 what had been a stable existence was marked by a divorce, a lack of support from my religion and friends, the loss of both parents, and the premature death of my youngest sister. On top of grief and financial pressure, I slipped into depression. Not understanding God’s purpose in so much heartbreak, I had to remind myself that just when all seams hopeless, life can unexpectedly turn around. There can be no death without a rebirth. The phoenix bird was consumed in flames only to rise from its own ashes. So you too will rise again. I read this passage many times, and the words gave me hope. Nevertheless, feelings of loss, loneliness, guilt, un-forgiveness, resentment, and even hate ravaged my body and mind.

Then in the spring of 1997, I had a significant dream that affected me deeply. This dream brought an entirely new sense to what lay dormant within my Self. I was running and felt anxious, as if I was in a hurry. There was pressure between my legs; I was in labor and was ready to give birth. I had to stop running because the head was bulging out. I put out my hands to hold it back, but I couldn’t stop this birth. I felt no pain and looked on as the veiled head emerged. It looked distorted at first, but one more push and the baby’s head came out, flawless. I gave a sigh of relief and cried out, Oh, it is beautiful! It is perfect!

Although I did not make the connection until much later, it was at this point in time that I started an ambiguous birthing process, a mystical spiritual awakening. It resembled the veiled head emerging in the dream. I could not hold it back anymore; it was due. I gave it one last push, and experienced the birth of an amazing miracle—my soul, my higher Self. From this point on I knew I was unraveling a mystery that would take time.

Each chapter in this book is a series of steps that helped me understand Who Am I, and Why Am I Here? We are body and soul collaborating as one authentic Self (chapter 2). We do not need to die to see ourselves as soul. We are soul having a human experience. We come here to know ourselves as soul. This truth enlightens and empowers our human experience. The most difficult thing while unraveling this mystery was letting go of my haunting fear of organized religion, of evil, of the mysterious unknown.

I was raised in an ambiguous religious concept of fear and judgment. I had no personal relationship with the God of unconditional love. I struggled with the most perplexing issue of separation from God; consequently, the personal tragedies and hardships challenged my belief system and the religious concepts all the more. Finally after that significant dream in 1997, my life unexpectedly turned around, and I started emotional and spiritual healing by trusting my own Self. The most incredible phenomenon on my journey was hearing the Voice. I was hearing and receiving guidance from God. Every morning before dawn I would wake up to an invisible energy guiding me to write (chapter 1). I had enough Bible knowledge to know divine communication was a common phenomenon throughout history. However, was it sacrilegious to assume that I could be hearing and receiving guidance from God? All my life I was taught anything supernatural was evil. I believed that divine enlightenment was reserved for the monastic few, the hierarchy of the Church. Obviously, while these religious leaders promoted themselves as the mediators between God and man, they cut themselves off from the mystic origins of their own traditions, which were spawned from this kind of mystical experience.

History is filled with ordinary people having the most extraordinary experiences, including the renowned Joan of Arc, who had the gift of telepathic hearing. According to the court testimony at her trial in 1431, she heard Archangel Michael, who inspired her and gave her the courage to lead France during the Hundred Years’ War. Nevertheless, the church declared her a sorceress and burned her at the stake for heresy. About thirty years later, she was exonerated of all guilt and ultimately canonized in 1920.

With much determination despite the initial uncertainty and some opposition from skeptics, I continued my journey to higher levels of spiritual consciousness propelled by the Voice. My reality was shifting, and I realized my greatest lessons and blessings emerged from what appeared to be the many tragic situations. My spiritual transformation originated because of pain, not in spite of it. Just like the phoenix bird, I was rising from my own ashes, reborn and transformed. The ultimate discovery was the fact that separation between the dimensions is an illusion. Consequently, communication with the other side is normal. There are levels of being, or aspects of reality beyond normal human perception. After much personal research on this phenomenon, and countless testimonials from other people, I accepted with an open heart my divine purpose after the following invitation:

"Irene Sonja, you are the miracle. I love you! The Miracle from the Heart is you! I am happy with all my children, but some are seeking to contribute to ease the pain of this generation. While you are seeking, you will see that you are not different from anybody else—yet you are a temple, and God wants to fill you with His Spirit. I want you to carry on my secrets. I want these secrets publicized. Publicize! Make public your secrets! You have divine secrets!"

The message, received in 1999 was the beginning of my commitment to the relentless work of compiling the recorded material. However, I had no idea how to start making these divine secrets public. Eventually the writing of a book kept coming up, and the title Miracle from the Heart was specified to me as well. Thus in the summer of 2004, I trusted the divine direction, and committed to writing Miracle from the Heart. Unfortunately six months into this project, I had to put the writing aside to dedicate to a secular job for financial reasons. Not finding a publisher after many attempts added to the disappointment of having to put everything on hold. Finally in 2010, with renewed commitment to finishing the writing, and with more experience and testimonials from my own spiritual counseling work, I had so much more to share with the reader.

The italicized messages from beyond are not partial to my individual journey. They are concepts and solutions for anybody and everybody who wants to search deep within to attain spiritual peace, and a better sense of the divine Self. My Christian background and the relationship I have with Christ is the focus in the messages. However, Christ Consciousness is universal, it is being conscious of the light and guide within. It is not a religion or cult. It is a christed state of spiritual enlightenment that Jesus Christ achieved in His human life. It means to realize our true nature, and actually Be It. We are called to remember that we are conscious beings in a conscious universe—We Are All One. In the light of this undeniable fact, we can collectively move our planet forward by being fully invested in Who We Truly Are.

Introduction

The nine chapters in this book are the result of my gradual discovery of the higher Self in communication with God. I discovered we are infinite beings, divine particles of God that are loved and never separated or abandoned. This is not a mere illusion; to the contrary, the religious teachings used to control the masses have been delusional and detrimental to true spiritual enlightenment. This is not an easy time for those who are sleeping. The time has come to claim our true identity: Who We Really Are, and Why Are We Here? This is truly a new age in which we have more spiritual freedom, and clearer awareness and discernment within Self. Enlightenment cannot be controlled by any religious authority anymore; we are witnessing an individual spiritual awakening without restrictions. The time when the holy teachers and prophets were persecuted or killed has passed. In other instances these holy people were set up as gods to be worshipped. People built elaborate religions and rituals around them, which they used to control the masses and each other as well (chapter 8). They did everything except follow the simple teachings that were offered, and consequently we forgot Who We Truly Are.

The current planetary shift has opened up a path to higher spiritual consciousness unlike anything we have seen before. Life on this planet will require a great deal of discernment. We can collectively move forward by being fully alive and invested in Who We Are. True globalization will come when we realize the need to work with the emotions from the heart and less with the mental, which is ruled by judgment. Love is an emotion from the heart, and thus requires the highest frequency to balance the current global fear, which carries the lowest frequency. Our planet is a living planet and is in its own evolutionary transition; consequently we are in this shift together—We Are One. However, God has not forgotten us—hence the call to Christ Consciousness. Christ Consciousness is evident in a fast-growing group of people called Lightworkers. These children of Light are all those who have a desire to serve humanity, and spread the Light during this turbulent transition. The following communication was one of the many messages I have received on this subject:

"Oh children of Light, I am holy to you, and you are holy to me. Open your eyes to see that you are not blind! The world wants you to be the victims of this system of things. You are not the victims, and neither are you the aggressors. There are only two ways to go in the polarity—victim or aggressor. But the new awareness is that you are actually the ones who are discovering power in Self to be the warriors of a much higher vibration. This world has no more power over you. You are the Light of the world because you are not here to succumb; you are here to know you are enlightened and powerful. No more victims do I need. No more suffering do I honor. No more do I need you to feel abandoned. Christ is here in Spirit to teach you. He is here to validate you. You are the ones to be just like Him. You cannot be the weak vessels. You are powerful, because at this time of the end I am sending all of you. You are all saviors and you have power from within to balance the energy on this planet. You know the way because Jesus showed you the way. Amen!"

I put this information together to help those searching to understand the extrasensory manifestations that accompany the spiritual awakening process (chapter1). The first few chapters help us remember that we are soul having a human experience, not the other way around. We are not an accident from an ambiguous source; on the contrary, we are co-creators with the Creator, and thus we have abilities to transform our lives and the world. Clearly the truth for which mankind is desperately searching outside is in Self. Once this is understood, we discover the true meaning of Oneness (chapter 5). The chapter on fear (chapter 6) expands on the many detrimental aspects of fear opposed to love. Fear cannot be eradicated, but there are many practical ways to balance this emotion for a happier and healthier life.

Spiritual awakening is a sudden shift in consciousness, it requires expansion of our existing beliefs, and the Bible is still a powerful reference. There are messages and discussions of the biblical prophecies for those awaiting the Second Coming. Jesus Christ has been my guide and inspiration, and when writing the last chapter in this book, I had to completely trust His Spirit to tell what will happen in the future. The information was astounding, to say the least! Nevertheless, the urgent warning is not coming strictly from the prophetic predictions, but a fact accepted by scientists and environmentalists as well.

In the midst of so much uncertainty, it is essential to be fully aware of God’s protection and to recognize the army of support from ascended masters, angels, archangels, and guides. People are aware of this spiritual realm but do not know how to consciously work with the nonphysical intelligence. I am honored to say that these spirit beings have been very involved in the writing of this book, as well as my current spiritual counseling work. The following message expresses so well the love and validation they gave me when I willfully accepted to serve my higher purpose.

Irene Sonja, you have a divine purpose in your world; you are a spiritual counselor for the souls awakening. You have made the registry in heaven, where you are a registered entity, and you are not ever left to do it alone. You have angels, archangels, and open communication with Christ’s Spirit and the Holy Spirit. You are the oracle and I am the Voice. You are a mystic channel.

The italicized messages shared in each chapter were originally addressed to me; however they convey a universal message to everyone who is interested in unlocking the mystery of life. In general I omit my name so that it can resonate with the individual reader.

Chapter 1

My Mystical Journey

God has always been very real to me. As far back as I can remember I had a genuine desire to serve a religious cause. In my early adulthood I joined a very zealous Christian group, and completely submerged by authority figures, I followed the strict dogmas. However, all my religious devotion only led to disappointments and shattered dreams. Consequently, I lost my purpose, and left the community. There were moments of doubt while outside the religious influence, but deep down I knew that God had not abandoned me. Actually, the contrary was true; I was ready to connect with my soul’s deepest purpose. Back then, I didn’t know there was another way to understand reality, a reality that goes far beyond the physical dimension. There is an ultimate wisdom that is outside of time and space. At that level is God, and God no longer feels outside of Self. Rather, we are One; we are merged. Everything is part of God, and communication is natural. At this blessed state of consciousness we achieve clarity of perception, and freedom from religious ignorance.

Once we steer away from fundamentalism, we realize that God is much bigger than the small box religion has tried to put Him in. We can consciously participate in this evolutionary process that will help us to think outside the box. We are always choosing to live our lives from a material consciousness, or a spiritual consciousness. A material consciousness is where we experience life through our five physical senses. A spiritual consciousness is experiencing life through spiritual discernment, insight and revelation. The urgent need of our times is to enlighten humanity; thus the need to explain some basic, important steps for understanding the world beyond the physical and making the world more visible and available for practical exploration.

When I embarked on my journey of transformation, I was facing a personal, and a spiritual crisis—the dark night of the soul. A spiritual breakthrough usually happens in the midst of an intense physical or emotional crisis. An inner turmoil, sometimes only subconscious, is usually the fundamental component that opens the way to a profound change. However, nothing had prepared me for the shift into higher consciousness that awaited me on this journey. In the human constitution we are always balancing fear and love for our own physical and emotional well-being. This is not different when experiencing a shift into higher spiritual consciousness.

From the beginning of the supernatural phenomenon, I was intuitively guided to look for help in my Self. This was not a very familiar route, and I had no map to follow. For the first time in my life I was completely alone, void of any human help. My personal tendency was always to seek help from others better versed to handle spiritual matters. I had a relationship with God in the context of religion, but I knew very little about the true divine wisdom in the hidden Self. Up until then my relationship with family and friends was a very important aspect of my life. I was oblivious of anything to do with having a relationship with my own Self. Puzzled by what was happening in my psyche, I received this surprising message.

"Irene Sonja, you are human and I know it, but you are the product of my Spirit in you also. I am awakening this Spirit in you. You are the most important aspect of this journey that you will share with many. You are small, but you are also the most important entity in this equation. You are love and you are Light. You are human and you are special, and you will succeed and exceed. But you are always in the dual mode of things: You are the love and the hate in your Self. You are the strong watchtower and the china doll. You are the sky above and the hell bellow. You are logic but you are still fear. You have the sky above to speak to, but scary is the Voice you hear. You are not relaxed on this journey because you are always on guard. You feel sad, and conflicted right now, yet positive is the outcome.

Now, why is it so much work on this journey? It is work because the human constitution is always in the opposite, working out the healing of the soul. You are not different because of your integrity, but you have always put more pressure on yourself. Now you are healing the traumas of the past, but you are not yet ready to go Home. You cannot to go Home before you found your Self far from Home. You are alone here, and you will go there all alone in the beauty of your Self to know that you have not been alone ever.

The strange conflict in my psyche had to do with some kind of duality in my Self! Before I could fully understand the message, and where this strange crisis was taking me, I was guided to go back in time. This brings me to the beginning of my true story. As far back as I can remember fear had always traveled with me. This is true of all souls coming back to this plane to live and learn in the physical confinement. But in the course of a chain of lives, we can better harmonize fear and ultimately perfect love. Every action has consequences, because our actions cause cosmic vibrations that affect not only this life but our life to come. However, what we do not learn from our relationships in this life must be learned in the next. Although there is no escape from this comic law, these relationships are actually opportunities for learning, healing, and forgiving.

The most painful in my own living and learning experience was the disillusionment in my marriages and my religion. Each time one of these relationships came to a decisive end, it was very difficult to deal with the depression and the feeling of abandonment. I sought to replace the empty void and loneliness, spending years trying to understand what true happiness was. At the height of happiness in any relationship, there is distraction away from the empty void; however, when things are down again, it is easy to blame unhappiness on those involved in the failed relationship, and this mysterious void comes up again, and again.

To find any significant answers to my dilemma with happiness, I had to keep going back to parts of my growing up as the oldest daughter of European immigrants. My family settled in the United States in 1965, after living in South America for a number of years. My two younger sisters and I grew up in a household plagued by my father’s alcoholism. Through the magic of naive innocence, we were able to survive a difficult childhood, where only the good was remembered and the bad was blocked for survival. As far back as I can remember I had always been very devoted to God and religion. In my teens I developed a sixth sense, a strong awareness of the spirit world around me. I wasn’t afraid of it, but I was not interested enough to try to understand this extraordinary phenomenon. I had religious fear of such supernatural manifestation, and instead of accepting it as a natural gift, I dedicated myself more to church and studying my Bible.

I was married at eighteen to escape the emotional abuse of the alcoholic home environment. I married not for love, but to escape! Raised a devout Catholic, I left the church and converted to a very zealous Christian Organization in my twenties. Together with my husband we became very dedicated to the organization. My life was filled with family, children, and the weekly Bible groups. This zeal for an organized religious service made me very judgmental of those in opposition to my rigid religious beliefs. I was strong and very self-righteous. My husband had a respected elder position in the congregation, and we traveled to many outside communities. My three daughters grew up in this strict environment. In spite of a growing unhappiness, I stayed faithful to the marriage until the end, when the whole family fell apart and we divorced. The bittersweet was not only my divorcing a man after more than twenty years—I was cast out from a religion that couldn’t understand why, after my divorce, I wouldn’t look for a fellow member for future marriage. This disconnect from a group of people I had known for most of my life, as well as the silent treatment from my lifelong friends toward me (imposed by the rules in the organization when a member leaves), made my life scary and lonely. Nevertheless I believed that now I had the chance to find love and that perfect romantic partner of which I had dreamed.

Shortly after, I met the one I believed to be my soul mate and fell in love. After all those years of being in a loveless marriage, this time I fell very hard, and before I had a chance to heal from all the trauma of my divorce, I embarked on a major roller coaster ride of emotion. Romantic love is one of the most exciting relationships! It can be appropriately compared to the adventure of two people on a roller coaster, with the ride made up of many highs and lows. The source of this excitement is the intense passion in such idealistic relationships. Obviously the Creator understands our human makeup very well: "The longings in the flesh are the most precarious, because the flesh is fighting with senses of powerful energy and you are not restraining the thoughts, but the senses. Love is human, but love eternal is godly, it comes not from desire, but from the heart."

I did not know enough about love eternal, so I immersed myself in the human love completely. I would write poetry and drive for many miles just listening to music, allowing this in love emotion to take over all my senses. Love had touched every fiber of my being. Our body is the recipient of being in love, and in the highs of it, the very essence of our being glows from the healing touch of the beloved. Being in love affects the whole psyche and every cell is nurtured by the lover’s touch. Poems have been written about the excitement and passion between lovers. God understands the ecstasy of this emotion, and the Bible spares no details: O that you would kiss me with the kisses of your mouth! I am my beloveds, and his desire is for me. Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the fields… There I will give you my love… . Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; for love is strong as death, jealousy is cruel as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, a most vehement flame. Many waters cannot quench love; neither can the floods drown it. If a man offered for love all the wealth of his house, it would be utterly scorned. (The Song of Solomon)

After a premature marriage in this soul-mate illusion, I found out that falling in love was not enough to save me from the painful disappointments in this relationship. Very soon it became very obvious that it was impossible to harmonize our cultural differences in the marriage. The Arabic culture and my open-minded free spirit did not mix well. The separation from this man was slow and painful, but to accept that even an in love relationship can have a tragic end was emotionally devastating. Again I was abandoned, scared, and lonely. However, in the midst of this emotional and financial upheaval, I started to notice missing a more meaningful spiritual connection. Only God could state how I felt. "You knew your greatest love was God. You were drinking in his essence and his passion. You were so in love with the reality, only to experience the illusion in the physical. This illusion was the physical love and the need you had for your human love, but your every fiber was in love with God. You had been addressing issues and pain from the past, but you knew God was the only fulfillment in this longing you had." How true!

Since my separation from my former religion, I had lost a true sense of God; I questioned organized religion and the negative control it had over people. Even though I started searching in numerous religious institutions to find God again, I found limited spiritual comfort in a biased and conflicted system. Obviously I could not find much personal help and direction there, either, so I was forced to face the painful financial consequences and the responsibilities of raising my children alone. Furthermore, I had no professional skills and no steady income on which to support myself. However, none of this went unnoticed by God.

The world wants you to be to be the victims of this system of things, but we in heaven have nothing to do with this. You are not victims; you are the ones to choose if you believe in victimhood. I gave you the human desire of your heart, but you can never say I have a hospital of broken hearts. I actually have a haven of souls mending in order to be together for a purpose in life. You are the cause of your own longings, and you are the one who needed time to see herself in the eyes of God first, before planning a future where you will not need a man to support you but to love you for what you are. You are lost in time when you cannot see your purpose in this lifetime. I smile when you cry the tears of joy in the choices you have made and already carried out.

Not understanding the reasons for the choices I had made, I was far from crying the tears of joy. The spiritual and financial upheaval left me emotionally empty and deserted. In the 1990s I traveled through the longest decade in my life,
