    Chapter One

    It was a warm summer day when I was standing outside looking over the pasture. The sun was dancing over my pale skin warming me from the inside out. It was a long winter and a boring spring if you could call it that. Half of spring was still winter, and the other half was rain and storms. Standing here looking out, it is a picture-perfect scene. I could sit here all day and watch the sunrise and the sunset, but I can’t I have animals to tend to.

    I go into the house, and let the three rambunctious dogs outside to play. It’s only 6 am so I start the coffee brewer. I open the drawer to pull out a K-cup, and a note drops on the floor. I pick it up to read it, and I quickly realized what it was. It was the note my ex left saying it was time to go our separate ways. After six years of being together, he was probably right. While I was frustrated with him, I knew somewhere deep down it was meant to happen. I try not to dwell on the whys or what ifs because I know how much that can mess someone up in the head.

    Ring Ring Ring

    I grab the phone to see who is calling me so early; it’s my best friend. We have known each other for ten years, and have only grown to be best friends, more like sisters.

    Hey, what’s up? She asks

    Getting my day started how about you?
