Part of the rhyming word families series, this is the -am word family book portraying the main characters of the story on the cover; a clam, a ram, jam, a ham and a boy named Tam. The ram’s name is Sam and the clam’s name is Pam. In two sentences there is another -am family word included to say more about the characters. The story is simple and there is even some humor; Pam and Sam do not like ham, there is more for Tam. Colorful illustrations wherever possible. The dam, ram, and clam are grey. Tam is a diverse character which makes this a true 21st century book for beginning readers. The larger typeface and short sentences make this a good read for a beginning reader. All words in the -am family are in a bolder typeface. The end spread is a review list of all the -am words and a to find the rhyming words among the 6 illustrations.WrittenPre Kindergarten through 1st gradeAD+
