This book is a fine primer on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, providing a brief biographical sketch of MLK, some historical context for his fight for racial equality, and some details about how people may honor MLK on the national holiday in his honor. The book is complete with photographs of King and supporters. There is a short (one line) mention of his assassination, which I just skipped over when I read this book to my class of toddlers (who were none the wiser that they missed anything and are too little to grasp such a concept). All in all, this a helpful book to educate children on an important figure from our recent past.
