WHO I AM

My years casting and coaching for television & film taught me how to spot the best qualities in people and draw them out. I have helped transform and tweak total images, everything from speech to style. My years writing, producing, hosting, directing and acting have given me the unique opportunity to work with, break bread with, and come in contact with some of the most famous, successful, extraordinary and engaging people in the world. I have hired and trained talent who have gone on to appear in major motion pictures, national & syndicated television series and more. I have produced and directed live concerts and documentaries with legends, and had the privilege of performing with ridiculously talented actors, musicians and directors.

I have written, directed, produced and starred in a multi-award winning feature film, interviewed Oscar winning actors & Grammy award-winning performers, produced thousands of hours of television programming that have been seen in all corners of the globe, guest starred on national primetime television series, founded my own production company, been recruited as Chief Operations Officer of a publicly traded entertainment company (whose name is synonymous with iconic blockbusters like Rambo, Terminator 2, Basic Instinct, etc.), been certified in culinary courses at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris (even though I couldn’t cook!), repelled in the South of France (despite my fear of heights), and the list goes on and on. Every day is full of empowered living. Life is FUN and full of surprises. I recently enticed Boy George to sing to me simply because I was confident and enthusiastic (and perhaps because I was dressed like a drag queen). I feel like I am only beginning to hit my stride.

My path, however, has not always been so clear. There was a long time when I was unable to get out of my rut and pursue my own amazing life. Like you, I’ve made lots of mistakes, faced financial and emotional devastations and life-altering events outside of my control. I often felt as if I was lost, drowning in uncertainty. Until one day I had a revelation. I was my own best resource. I had been blessed with an unbelievably unique opportunity to learn from all of the invaluable experiences I have had working and connecting with extraordinary people. I’ve rubbed elbows with those who have defied the odds and observed firsthand how they behave when the cameras are on and off. Not just what they say, but what they actually do. They know how to tap into the resources we all have, but just don’t always know how to use.

I started asking myself what do they have that I don’t? What are they doing that I’m not? I put all the answers down on paper and it formed a roadmap for me becoming the woman I wanted to be. The end result was my reinvention recipe…and now this book, The Diva’s in the Details.

By using this list, this roadmap, I began to genuinely believe in myself. Within a year I found the courage to start my own production company. Within three years I had written, directed, produced and starred in my first (award-winning!) feature film. The following year I was asked to join Carolco Pictures, Inc. as its COO!

This guide works and it is just too good to keep to myself. Those indescribable qualities, the details, I dissected and defined them. Then I used them to fuel my inner confidence and define my sense of self, allowing me to pursue my dreams and change my life. Now I want to share it with you so you can do the same.
