Y Correa
Y. Correa is a literary seductress, luring one in with her talent of Romancing the Words, keeping one hypnotized with dynamic characters, and stimulating one with engaging narrative voices, strong plots, and epic conflicts. Her writes are as complex and as distinct as her person; a delightful combination of eclectic and antiquated. Therefore, the mere mention of fitting into one set genre is laughable. The multi-genre decadence is where she showcases her magnificence. Y. Correa's works include: Solo Works: ~ Historical Fiction "MarcoAntonio & Amaryllis" ~ Sci-Fi Mashup "Earth 8-8-2: The Genesis Project" and "Earth 8-8-2: Genesis' Rebellion" ~ Paranormal Romantic Drama "Lilith's Dominion" ~ Short Story Anthology coined after her catchphrase, "Dimensions of Literary Seduction" Anthology Participations: ~ "Concordant Vibrancy: Unity" ~ "Holiday Keepsakes" ~ "Crackles of the Heart: Divergent Ink Book 1" ~ "Concordant Vibrancy: Vitality" ~ "Concordant Vibrancy: Lustrate" Would you like to enter into Y. The G Particle
The clicking sound of G's laptop when it opened was so very familiar. For the oddest of reasons G found solace in it. At times he almost felt as if his computer were an extension of himself. Then again, he was a Computer Programmer specializing in Video Game Design so, in a manner of speaking, the computer indeed was a continuance of him.
Today, like every day beforehand, G got up, dressed and prepared for work, caught the number 7 northbound bus to Randolph Street, crossed the road and walked into the enormous edifice which was his workplace. He hated the morning commute. The redundancy therein made him sigh in contempt. This however, was reality. The long and the short of it, so he might as well deal with it.
Just like he did every day before, G went to the break-room, fixed himself a cup of coffee. Cream, no sugar. Trekked to his cubicle and plopped on the chair to start his mornings labors. Not that this type of work could really be considered labor, but work was work, and he got to fiddle with what he loved the most, so it was fine, G supposed.
G was fascinated with the way the little people which he created moved around unaware that he was the manipulator at the controls of their lives. He the master and they the puppets. As G swiveled the mouse back and forth, he watched attentively as the avatars came alive. He was fascinated by it all. These things always reminded G of the complex things in life. As he fiddled with the little people of his own formation G speculated about love, science, religion, and things of the sort. Being the nerd that he was, the unexplained always intrigued him. Especially, the thought of God and the discovery of the god particle.
He couldn't help but think about its complexity.
The god particle was the informal name for Higgs boson. Which was a subatomic particle whose existence was predicted by the theory that unified the weak and electromagnetic interactions. In layman terms, the god particle was the particle that unified the universe and everything in it. G was awestricken and marveled at the implications. Everything is one. Everyone and all things are connected …
G couldn't help but wonder if the way that he handled his creations was the same way that our Creator influenced us. G sighed in admiration, quickly drifting off into La La Land as he busied himself with the task at hand.
The question persisted, stabbing the back of G’s head as he worked. Were we, too, just pawn in the board game of God? Fascinating.
G said aloud accidentally. Flinching he looked around and then over the wall of his cubicle to ensure that no one was listening. Luckily, no one here ever listened.
Fidgeting around with his mouse and swaying from side to side in his office chair while engulfed in his creation, G lost himself in the complexities of the universe.
By the end of the day G had done his eight hours and was ready for his trip home.
Again, G took the number 7 bus, this time southbound, walked down the incredibly quiet suburb road of Lafayette Street, reached his house and pulled out his keys to open the door.
During the remainder of the day, G went out to dinner with his best friend, came back home to watch the game, had an insignificant argument with his girlfriend over the insufficient time that he spent with her, then had a beer before showering and jumping in bed.
Closing his eyes, he had one last thought before dozing off to sleep. "God, I hate that my life is so boring. A little excitement for once would be nice. I dunno, just saying. Good night, God. Amen."
The clicking sound of His laptop as He closed it always gave Him solace. I think I need to make G’s life a little more exciting.
Said God, as He clapped his laptop closed.
Genomegenics
The Year 2085
Big City, USA
The announcer’s voice blared loudly through the speakers of the virtual reality billboard. 3D images of him bounced off its pavement and sprang to life. His movements seemed so real that anyone could easily mistake the digital reality for a real person. The announcer’s hair was slicked back and dark, held by a bit too much hair-gel and he wore a notably expensive Armani suit. A wink and a brilliant smile with a twinkling tooth preceded the announcement. Some of the passersby stopped to look, others ignored the billboard altogether.
Are you tired of being normal? Tired of always fitting in? Tired of being just another jellybean in the bag? Are you sick of not being pretty enough, smart enough or strong enough?
Try Genomegenics. Our specialized laboratories can not only make your dream of being extraordinary come true, but they can make it happen without the need of cloning or rebirth.
What is a genome after all, if not a cell that can be moved or replaced?
Then don’t wait any longer. Genomegenics is waiting for you!
The narrator put special emphasis on the word Genomegenics, his inflection sing-song.
Exchange that high blood pressure for high cheek bones. Change that nearsightedness to super-sight. Trade out that mediocre brain of yours for nothing short of Einstein’s. In a matter of minutes, you can go from drab to fab!
All it takes is a simple call … Better yet, a visit to Genomegenics!
Just as quickly as the broadcaster had finished his dialogue, a more enthused announcer splayed out a string of incomprehensible information at the speed of light. Once he’d completed his portion, the screen flashed with an array of colors and sparks which led to the bursting of the gold and red company logo, with a one eight hundred number just below it.
The pièce de résistance was the first announcer popping back on
