About this ebook

Adam Pierce is a successful millionaire. He inherited a percentage of his father’s business, but also has amassed his own fortune in the stock market and expert investing. After meeting Mason, a sexy and patient construction worker, at a charity silent auction, all he wants is to be close to him again. Except there’s one problem-- the press. According to gossip columns, Adam is an insatiable slut and while that may be true, he wants more than a one night stand with Mason.

Adam wants to keep the gossip column out of their relationship, but when Mason confronts him about it, he only has two choices: come clean or lie through his teeth.

This book is book 2 in the Adam’s First Kiss series. It can be read as a stand alone, but for better context, you can read Adam’s First Kiss (book 1).

    Part 1

The Monday after his date with Mason, Adam scheduled things. He woke up in his California king sized bed with sheets recently changed to blue from gold and a comforter changed from thick winter to thin summer. His workday routine started with a quick shower while listening to a fifteen-minute morning newscast. The Ben and Stevie morning show covered local current events as well as highlighting national events of importance. This morning they reviewed the events of the weekend, mentioning how much money the art gallery event raised and when the public donation was going to happen and mentioning which local celebrities (people who made enough money for others to care about their personal lives) made an appearance. Mr. William Calloway attended with a young man on his arm. He arrived late, presumably busy with other things, and left early. The impeccably dressed Mr. Calloway placed bids on several art pieces before leaving, still with the dark haired young man at his side. Ezra Rothchild-Yates escorted his aging grandmother through the gallery. Adam zoned out as the men discussed Ezra, his mother, and all the people he talked to at the event. They also discussed her illness and how she’s been in and out of hospitals but will not open up about her disease. Had she paid them to cover her life story? They listed her vast accomplishments and her grandson’s afterwards. His were brief as he was barely old enough to vote, let alone have any true accomplishments behind his name. He rinsed his hair as he heard his name float through the speaker. What? Adam Pierce sported a blue checkered Canali suit with a yellow-orange (amber) shirt, blue bowtie, and dark brown loafers. He arrived alone and despite talking to several men of his class, he left with a stranger. He shut off the water at seven minutes and forty-five seconds into his shower, scowling.

Once in his office, he forgot about the news report in favor of burying himself in work. Iwana left messages on his desk in order of importance. First, Stock Market Weekly called to discuss a spread on how young people can invest in the market. Iwana doodled stars around this message-- her way of telling Adam she wanted him to do it. The next several messages were potential new clients, alphabetized. The last message was from his accountant to schedule their quarterly meeting. Monday was scheduling, Tuesday was research, Wednesday he sent article proposals to Stock Market Weekly. Thursday, he stayed in bed except for using the bathroom and a casual evening walk around his property.

At 3:15 on Friday, he had a video chat meeting with Stock Market Weekly about the proposals. At 9:45, Iwana burst into his room, yanking the curtains back and splashing him with sunlight.

No. He muttered, burrowing in his sheets.

Yes, Mr. Adam. You have a busy day today. And you have a surprise.

Define ‘surprise’. There is ‘your mother is back in town’ surprise versus ‘the stock market rose considerably overnight and new clients are taking over the phones’.

Neither kind of surprise! It’s better. Adam narrowed his eyes at the cheerful woman now buzzing around his room. She collected glasses from the previous night, resettled his books and papers, and collected his
