About this ebook

As the title suggests, this is a legal argument to demonstrate the existence of God, by drawing on science and myth to present an objective evaluation of the evidence that each presents. The author is neither a scientist, nor a clergyman, but a lawyer by profession and so he has presented the evidence, arguing that there are in fact significant parallels between the bible and other mythical accounts of our creation by God, and recent scientific discoveries.

The author identifies the essential similarities between different religious pursuits, arguing that science has confirmed that divine forces indeed inhabit the very essence of our being, and that God is the uniting being in human being.

In his attempt towards the Truth, author Brent Crafford has discovered the Highest Universal Principle, the One Unitary Truth. Consider this argument and these insights on your path towards Enlightenment.

    Author’s Note

As the title suggests, this is a legal argument to demonstrate (mainly to myself) the existence of God. I have drawn on science and myth to present an objective evaluation of the evidence that each presents. I am neither a scientist, nor a clergyman; I am a lawyer by profession and so I have presented the evidence. In a way, I have written in the fashion of a legal argument, the way in which a lawyer would present a case to a judge or jury.

The first two parts of this work is written in a sequence based more or less upon the chronological confluence of events that have brought us to this moment, 1 March 2017. The material I have drawn upon is widely available and I have relied heavily on the research and information in Wikipedia, to whom I owe immense gratitude (and have made a small donation). I don’t claim any original thought in relation to this evidence; I have merely attempted to argue that one needs to view the evidence from a different, more objective perspective, connecting the dots, as it were, in a different, unconventional way.

Whilst I started off in this fashion, the third part - the insights - is based on the personal insights that the cosmological evidence in the first two parts presents.

Although the insights are written in a type of sequence or theme, it is more in the fashion of verses, perhaps more in keeping with the intermittence of the insights I have experienced. I have gone back to that part and tried to edit towards a more structured pattern, but I have found it difficult to do so, perhaps because it ventures into a metaphysical realm, wherein mere words cannot fully describe the immensity of it all.

So, not only are the findings the natural conclusions drawn from the available cosmological evidence, but so, too, are they insights to which I have been able to go back and reflect upon, most verses containing insights within the confines of that passage. I invite you, therefore, to be the judge and do the same.

    Introduction

It was never my intention, as a young man, to practice Law; my parents dragged me through the process, to their credit, they understood that qualifying as a lawyer would provide me with the tools to earn a decent living and so we suffered together. I am now, more than ever, grateful to them. I had no intention to actually practise Law and, instead, resolved to travel once I had completed my post-graduate degree in Law. However, through changes in circumstance, I commenced Articles of Clerkship whilst studying part-time, completing my Law Degree in 1988, and was admitted as an attorney in 1990. I have been exposed to the practise of Law ever since.

What prompted me to embark upon this process was a question that had been posed to me a few years ago, when I’d been asked, Who is Brent Crafford…? and I could not answer that question!

Since then, I have embarked upon a journey to discover some answers. Along the way, I came upon certain archetypical characteristics and a bunch of beliefs, both conscious and subconscious. I have read a lot about Cosmology, I have learned a few tricks to quieten the mind and I have spent some time in solitude. Surprisingly I have found that the answers lie close to the surface; they are just beyond perception. The lifestyles, norms, conventions and the thinking mind camouflage the important stuff, but, with perseverance, you come to experience your life from a slightly more objective perspective and, in stepping back, are you able to witness yourself. I now see that this innate need to seek the truth is, indeed, one of the attributes of being a good Lawyer, too.

    Opening Statement

Perhaps it is as a lawyer that I have embarked upon the process of considering the evidence of God, but I have done so on behalf of my ever-present client - my principal, my soul. It has been a process of accumulating and considering the evidence that has brought about within me a fundamental realisation of the truth. The practice of Law is after all, made up of two basic principles, firstly; the original teachings of the prophets, codified by religious adherents, developing later into a philosophy of its own and resulting in the presently complex system of laws, all of which is designed to regulate human interaction, in essence, an intricate evolution of one of the fundamental Laws, Do not take from another. And secondly, a pursuit of the truth, by demonstrating that that which can be proved on a preponderance of probabilities, is fact.

In seeking to find meaning in and for one’s existence, the greatest difficulty is to overcome preconceived ideas about more recent religious dogma and the usual explanations proffered for our existence and spirituality. The particular reason for this difficulty is our respectively unique biological nature and the years of nurture, i.e. the years of being subjected to arbitrary religious, political, economic and social systems for the proffered common good, not forgetting our respective unique psyches. This, together with the daily art of survival, leaves little room for considered thought.

I have found, perhaps through legal training, that it is better to lose these prejudices and objectively consider all of the evidence as a composite, and then draw objective conclusions. The definition of ‘objective’ (adjective) is: unbiased; being the object of perception or thought rather than the thinking subject. Of or relating to something that can be known, existing independent of thought as an observer as part of reality. Consider objectivity as being formless, beyond perception, looking in from the outside, considering this from the position
