South Dakota - Jeremiah John Jackson

Iam Zipp’s old man .
He has his own story but, as stories go, everyone’s story is caught up in everyone else’s story, so his story is about my story too.
Here’s how Zipp’s story goes when it comes to me:
Two families had come together – mine, that was the Schultzes, and my Blackfoot friend Wick's, which was Manygrayhorses, and they came together because of our fathers. Back in the 70s our old men had gone to Wounded Knee together in a black LTD, heading straight for South Dakota without stopping because there was an uprising, Indians had taken up guns and soldiers had them surrounded.
We never stopped,
Dad told me when I was twelve. "All those yellow hills one after another. And buffalo, sure, we went past a herd of them but we kept going because all the stuff was coming down at The Knee and the guns were out. Our friends said we'd never get in because the whole place was covered, US Marshals, FBI, troopers, but Big God laughed and opened the ring of steel as easy as you open a charm bracelet. We showed up and there was a truce. They'd been shooting to kill the night before and now there was a truce so I'm driving and we come around another hill and there's an army halftrack, cam green, and this guy swings a big 50 around and points it at me.
"I slam on the brakes and Wick's Dad, Jimmy, is saying, Hey, what are you stopping for, get going, get going, he won't shoot, he's just trying to scare you! A 50 caliber cartridge is what, five inches, six inches long? But I creep up on the halftrack because Jimmy is pounding on the dash, Get going, get going! I finally put my hands up and I climb out of the LTD and until then I had to pee bad, but I didn't even feel it now. Go down at your own risk, Mister 50 says. So Jimmy tied a pillowcase to
