Enchanted Souls Series Tour book 2 - Alice Jamison

    CHAPTER ONE

It's so beautiful up here, I'm going to miss this place, Dove said as her head rested on Jackson's chest. They were back at Jackson's spot on the mountain with a great view of the town below. The trees slowly moved to the sound of the wind and the birds chirped. There was nothing more peaceful and beautiful at the same time.

We can always come back ... after the tour, Jackson said.

After the tour I'll have go back to college for my last semester, Dove said with a tint of regret in her voice and she was surprised at herself that there could be a time when she was not so excited about going back to college.

What about the holidays? We could come here for Christmas, Jackson countered and he watched as Dove gently rubbed on her necklace as she contemplated.

And we could put your necklace on a freshly cut tree. It would be enough to light up the tree, Jackson added and Dove chuckled.

Ever since Jackson mentioned that her necklace was glowing, she had been so astonished by the fact. She didn't really know why that happened. She had gone back to her cabin that night and it had returned back to its dark olive green color. She'd mentioned to Jackson how bizarre that was and he had said something about it being affected by daylight. Dove was inclined to believe him, but why hadn't the necklace gone bright before now? Why did it have to be Crested Valley's sunlight?

Her inability to provide the answer to the question had made her push it away. The necklace was causing her no harm and it was the last gift from her mother. Perhaps the shining light was a sign her mother's approval of her recent life choices, she'd cheekily thought.

I think Christmas will be great. Although, I think by then everything in sight would be white. It's April and it's still very white here.

Yes, we are guaranteed a very white Christmas in Crested Valley, Jackson said and leaned in to kiss her.

Dove loved the fact that they could make plans with no fear of the future and she was beginning to embrace this future. She had taken her father's advice, no matter what lies in the future, all she wanted was to be happy and make Jackson happy. Now it felt like her life had a new purpose and it was to love this incredible man who made her happy.

So we head on to Los Angeles tomorrow and your tour begins in two days. Are you nervous? Dove asked after the kiss.

No, not really. It's been a while since I've gone on tour, but I have a feeling it's like riding a bicycle.

What's it like, these tours...? Dove asked. This would be her first time on tour and she wanted as much details about it as possible.

Jackson's hand played with a tendril of her hair as he spoke. They can be exhausting. Not only the travelling, but the rehearsals and in some other countries you've got to pay courtesy visit to some people. And then there's the jet lag. It can be pretty crazy.

Jackson paused and looked into her eyes. It was pretty selfish of me to ask you to come along in the first place. Are you sure you still want to come?

Jackson Teal, are you trying to make me change my mind?

No, Jackson said with a small smile and the worry lines still evident on his forehead, I'm just worried that you might hate it.

The last few days he had taken pleasure in the little things, in hearing her laugh, watching her win yet another skiing tournament. He would miss this: sitting against the tree with her in his arms and listening to her breathe. Her blonde hair was carried by the wind and the way her face got serious when she was thinking about something. He wanted to have more of this in Crested Valley, away from all the fanfare the tour might bring, but the tour was non-negotiable now. And for the first time since the beginning of his career, he was hesitant about going to tour.

Both Veronica and Alex had called last night telling him about the jet that would be sent to pick him up in Colorado tomorrow. They had both been excited and couldn’t wait to get the show on the road. Part of him was excited about Dove coming along, and part of him panicked. What if she hated the tour?

Jackson wanted more than anything to have this present moment last forever. He would die happy if all he had to do all day was to be in her arms and now he feared the tour may threaten that.

I'm a journalist, the road isn't supposed to be easy. At least that's what Professor Davis says. She said straightening the worry lines on his head.

This reminds me... She reached for her backpack, bringing out a journal and a pen. We need to set some ground rules as we go on this tour.

Jackson raised an eyebrow. We do?

Yes, I'm coming along as both a journalist and your girlfriend, of course we need rules, Dove said.

Jackson smiled and murmured. Say that again.

What? Dove asked with a glint in her eye.

You are my... Jackson trailed off.

Dove playfully hit him on his side. Don't be cocky now, Jackson Teal, that's one of the ground rules. We keep the fact that I'm your girlfriend in-house between family and friends.

She wrote it down as she said it and then circled the word ‘girlfriend.’ She still couldn’t believe that she was someone’s girlfriend. For the first time in her life she would be taking on a label to be with a guy. And more so, she was a girlfriend to the man of her dreams.

She enjoyed being his girlfriend and every day since she’d told him she loved him, she had woken up with the thought of him and spending the day with him. Now that they were going on tour, he would be Jackson Teal, the famous musician once again and she wasn’t sure what it would entail to be a girlfriend of a celebrity.

She continued to circle the word ‘girlfriend’ with her pen and Jackson watched with fascination as she got lost in her thoughts. He’d noticed that, when she worried about something, her brows twitched while her green eyes became extra determined.

A penny for your thoughts? He said, bringing her out of her reverie.

A penny? You are a freaking rich guy, I’m sure my thoughts are worth much more than that.

    Jackson chuckled. "I’d
